We arrived around 4 pm on a Saturday and all the basic motel rooms were booked out.
So we paid a little extra and got a suite,  it was worth it lovely room, great shower,  warm - minus 2 overnight,  quiet . Nice bistro bar friendly staff would recommend

Nice Stay

The last time I stayed in a room so badly presented was in 1972 in Angola during that country's civil war. But. hey, this is 2023 in Goulburn, Australia. If $130 for a pet friendly room gets you this, then leave your dog with your in-laws. Plaster flaking off the walls, floor tiles broken, dark dirty shower, no exhaust fan in the toilet/shower room, electric wire (hopefully disconnected) hanging from the wall.

Bad trip down memory lane.

Great food but… order the Penne Lamb, beautiful until the chilli or spice used(not listed on menu) hit, what a shame to over power beautiful food with whatever it was. The presentation of food looked great, staff and venue are excellent. Stayed in rooms at motor also nice.

Great spot and venue.

Good value, basic room. It was comfortable and clean. Good location on the main street, but didn't hear traffic noise.. Staff were very friendly and efficient.  We were just passing through Goulburn and would choose to stay here again. Secure parking. 

Good value overnighter

This was one of the few cheaper motels to have a vacancy, we were given a twin room,it was clean, reasonably sized close to food outlets, only down side was we were in late afternoon about 6pm there was no parking left ,had to park out on the street, otherwise all good , staff were very friendly

Short notice booking

We stayed in the Astor Suites... Newly renovated part of the building. It was a huge room with coffee machine and large bathroom, comfortable beds. Everything was good on arrival with friendly check in. We slept so well that I had to phone reception in the morning as we were running late with our departure. They were great, no problem at all with extending check out time

Great stay in a lovely town

That old saying 'sounds too good to be true' actually rings true with our experience at this property. We should have trusted our instinct so partially our fault. So we booked the room online. Photo's looked good, place looked clean and reviews were overall quite good. We arrived and were told we actually booked a room upstairs from the pub on the opposite corner apparently. Obviously an overflow situation for sucker traveller's. That's okay because it was cheap and we're open minded after all. Open minded that is until we saw what we booked....apparently. No photos of this room on the website so somewhat misleading. Very misleading actually. To describe this shoebox sized, putrid at first sight, 'pay by the hour' looking room as horrid is an understatement. Back to reception we go and it turns out we can pay an additional fee to stay in the property we actually booked. Worth noting if you book to stay at the Astor you could potentially end up sleeping upstairs Tattersall Pub across the road. At this point we're told we couldn't cancel and get a refund because we booked online via a 3rd party. Sorry gents, my partner is a hotel manager of 35 years and we call BS but anyway we pay the extra money and get a really shabby alternative but a huge improvement on the pub room. Our faith is now somewhat restored until that is we head to the supermarket to grab a few supplies, arrive back only to find 2 male strangers sitting on our beds. I'm not kidding. They were upset that we walked in on them and had even moved our luggage to make way for theirs. So back to reception we go. 15 minutes later we were literally instructed to remove our bags and proceed to 3rd attempt at finding a place to stay, coincidentally an upgraded room. Awesome, we can finally settle in for the night. Nice enough room sure. Obviously recently underwent some upgrades. Wreaked of fresh paint, new carpet, fitted out with cheap furniture, some quirky modern touches, original circa 70's bathroom mostly but it was an upgrade so we'll take it thanks. Quickly learned can't put feet on the new carpet because it was riddled with ants travelling in via the carpark. Anyway, if it sounds too good to be true, trust your instincts and if you need to stay in Goulburn, avoid this property at all costs. You're welcome

Faulty Towers

Offset Smoker grill absolutely delicious. We had an amazing function upstairs. Most of the staff absolutely amazing. Great little pub. One issue but Manager informed. Stayed at well equipped clean three star motel. Mostly great weekend.

Great food. Lovely pub.

Yes it was a tad misleading, however, i chose the cheapest room available and chose the share bathroom option - obviously hoping for a vintage bathroom and I got it! So you check in at the Astor across the road then you go to the other pub and upstairs all nicely renovated till you reach a mystery white door. Open that door and be transported back in time, long dark hallway, mysterious rooms with sounds behind and work boots out front, sightings of people you never meet just a flash here and there, back stair to free and safe parking. The room was cozy and the bed was divine! warm, firm and with fresh clean sheets, pillow options and a tv what more can you want. It was quiet and the view in the morning over the town was great. Great cafe downstairs busy with people and a good Thai restaurant a few doors away. I would most def stay here again.

Wanting to treat my partner, booked Astor Suites Premium Double Room for an overnight stay. However, what was presented was a grubby, dingy, studio. The minuscule bathroom consisted of a shower recess separated from the toilet by a plastic curtain, with no room for a basin. In fact the basin was on top of the kitchenette cupboard providing a short person with a challenge to operate the taps. The area around the door handle was filthy. Staff had a "take it or leave it" attitude. To add insult to injury, on returning from a meeting with friends, our parking spots as occupied by a tradies ute, requiring us to occupy the last remaining parking spot. To offer such a grubby hole as premium accommodation is deceitful in the extreme and under no circumstances even think of staying in such a hole.
