Place is dirty, manager unbelievably rude and off hand. Everything was too much trouble. When she accepted our 3 night booking, neglected to mention the place was actually closed for 2 of those days and nights. Couldn’t even get a drink. Bathrooms were not cleaned.
Only upside is the dining. Looks to be independent of the hotel management, really good Asian food, served  with a smile.

Don’t go there

We stopped by for dinner, the pub is old but clean, staff were really friendly. The food was amazing. I have never had garlic bread as good. My wife ordered the ribs, which just melted in your mouth, I tried some, and I ordered the meat lovers pizza. The pizza was very delicious, and if I had to find a fault, I’d say there was too much topping as it filled me up too much and I had to leave some. All in all, we found the whole town of Katanning very friendly and well located in the region for day trips. We stayed at the premier mill hotel which is worth another entire 5 star review on its own along with the cordial bar in the basement.

Awesome food

We visited this Hotel and found easy parking just across the road . The small bar looked as if it had been recently renovated - decor was plain, simple and pub style. Wait staff were extremely pleasant. One meal of grilled fish was very good the fish was served with mash & greens. My meal of half rack was tasty although as is often the case with this dish it was over cooked.

LUNCH IN KATANNING

A traditional family friendly country pub.

We called in on a Friday afternoon after school was out. It was full of laughing kids and their mum's.

Old style but clean and a good blackboard menu that was changed as we sat there.

They have a nice e quite do ing room or you can eat in the bar.

Went for a drink, not a stay

Bar staff friendly and genuine and you feel part of the place really quickly. Excellent food coming out of the kitchen makes for a great place to drink and eat. Has a warm fireplace and family  friendly

Great place to have a beer and quality Pub  food with cozy log fireplace

Looking for somewhere to eat in Katanning on a cloud evening I came across the Exchange Hotel .Fire burning in the bar, a range of beer and great comfort food left me with a good feeling of the place.



Great meal

We, 9 people, stopped for dinner, the food was great pub food, the variety of meals ordered and delivered stand testament to the Kitchens ability to serve volumes of people without hiccups.
all meals were generous in their size, and very tasty. No complaints from anyone.
Thoroughly enjoyed the evening with friends and food.

Great Food

We heard a number of recommendations and comments on how good the chef was, but the restaurant was quite exceptional. Exceptional for a country town or even big city.  I had the ribs and was concerned to find the sauce on the side, not slathered over the ribs.  It was because the ribs were so melt in your mouth they didn’t need sauce, but make sure you add the sauce for an even better taste.  These were the most melt in your mouth ribs I have ever eaten.  The beef stroganoff was so good, you could cut the beef and see colour, the beef hadn’t been overcooked, as you would expect in a pub stroganoff.   Fab mushroom and spinach sauce.  Exceptional restaurant for a country pub.  

Exceptional country pub restaurant 

The Royal exchange has always been a great spot in the heart of Katanning for us to gather as a family or with a group of friends to grab a bite to eat and catch up. The food is always delicious and at a high standard with everyones needs catered to. The price of food and beverages is extremely reasonable especially for the delicious and large portions that you are given. The staff are always happy and friendly and welcome you with a smile. Accomodation is lovely and warm with a beautiful view of the town just from your bedroom window. Definitely a place you'd return to. 

Quaint and comfortable 

I made a booking from the roadside an hour prior to checking in, and  on arrival was promptly shown my room, also the back staircase with resident cats, as a shortcut getting my case in. Had a pleasant meal and drink before a shower with excellent pressure then sleeping in very comfortable bed. Free self help communal  breakfast provisions on bench and frig make the morning simple. If you are after a simple country pub on your travels,  this is it.
