We arrived here at about 6 pm and we really thought it had closed down for the season. A lady was on reception, the owner perhaps and she told us no she was open. That's good. So we booked a room for the night as we didn't want to drive any further and accommodation was hard to find.  We noticed dining room tables and chairs. No, she didn't do food the freezers were down.  She had also had a power cut for 3 days. Hmm.  Didn't sound too good.  So we went to Apollo for fish and chips. The room was ok but not worth the money. The shower so dark and the toilet you could just about see what you were doing. We came back and about 9 o'clock the power went off! The lady did come round with a torch for us to use but we were so tired we just went to bed. The place has so much potential little chalet type rooms which we had and faced the sea and the road. So much could be done to make it such a good place.  But I would not recommend anyone to stay here. It's a no no!  Such in need of supervision and some business-like attitude. It does have a lot going for it but some TLC needed badly.

Oh No!

We were trying to find a place along the Great Ocean Road after midnight but so many places were shut or fully booked. The owner woke up and answered the phone at 2am in the morning and stayed up for us to arrive 45mins later. Despite us waking her in the early hours she was absolutely lovely. We decided to stay 2 nights. 
We were given a sea view room which was great waking up to in the morning.
The location is excellent for everything we wanted to do on the Great Ocean Road, including the lighthouse, the apostles and waterfalls. 
Price was very good value and all amenities are supplied. Comfy beds. 
Plenty of parking space for our car too which is always a thing we look out for. 
Thank you to the owner for waking up at such a late hour and letting us stay - it saved us a night of 4 sleeping in a car! Great way to have ended the last of our Journying in Australia.

Amazing location and hospitality

I can't leave Zero stars unfortunately - if I could this would be more accurate.  A truly, truly HORRIBLE experience!  This motel is putrid, disgusting and vile and the owner could not care less!  DO NOT STAY HERE!!! It is by far THE WORST accommodation we have ever experienced (including backpackers!).  

The room smelt strongly of mould and was terribly run down / in need of repairs & maintenance. (stains on walls, exposed cords/light fittings, cheap nasty furniture).  Tonnes of mould in the shower and the toilet leaked.  (When I told the owner, her response was "Why is that a problem?"!!!)  

But the best part was, we could hear a creature of some kind (a rodent perhaps?) in the room in the middle of the night......aaagggghhhh!!!!

My conversation with the owner upon check out was even more unpleasant than the appalling room.  She gets a zero for customer service, preferring to argue with me than apologise or even listen to my complaint.  A very bad decision in this world where online reviews are so important.  

Skenes Creek is a nice part of the world but steer clear of this hovel; trust me!  A tent would be a far better option if accommodation is scarce.

This motel is putrid, disgusting and vile and the owner could not care less!

My partner and just walked in and Joyce was a lovely host. 
The room was really clean and the view was AMAZING! 
She gave us a free map of the town and gave us good information of places to visit.

The place was affordable as well.

Lovely little Haven with an ocean view!

Arrived around 4pm to reception that was locked up. Had to drive around to find someone. Got told our room wouldn't be ready for another hour or so. Came back at close to 7pm to be told room still not ready. Hugely overpriced for an outdated room. Not a good experience.

Poor service, overpriced

A beautiful place to stay. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Staff went above and beyond to ensure our 2 day stay was comfortable. Awesome front door views of the ocean. Will definitely be returning in the near future. 😀

Holiday

25 members and partners of our Soft Tennis Group gathered at Skenes Creek Lodge for our fourth annual Christmas celebration. The sparkling sea on a summer's day matched the setting, the table decorations, pre-dinner drinks and the courteous attention. The pork and turkey roasts were moist and tender, vegetables and salad sides well chosen and presented, and seasonal deserts were well appreciated. Thanks Joyce for another great occasion!

A great corporate Christmas celebration

Visiting great Ocean road and after having a Wonderful day on the road, we tried to find one room for one night in Apollo Bay. This place was the only one available, 190 Dollar for one night is not bargain and Rooms are small and old fashioned. If you compare what room you get in a hotel in Melbourne for that Price, it is highly overrated. At least nice view on the sea and it is silent.

High price for small rooms, we stayed there for one night as no other choice

Very friendly hosts, comfortable warm bed, great hot and powerful shower and the meals WOW! The best lamb chops ever. Falling asleep to the gentle sounds of the ocean with no traffic noise. Also plenty of parking for caravans, buses and trucks etc.

A single night in this motel, rather cool or dry home, few services for a relatively high price (no WiFi, little equipment, only one tablet around the bed, no tablet in the bathroom, the soap smelled bad).
