My wife, Joanne, and I, while searching online for accommodation in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia, stumbled on a "motel" called La Casa Nostra. The obvious concern Joanne had,  you might say, was the organized crime insinuation in the name. I explained that the name of the motel translates to Our Home not Our Thing as the La Cosa Nostra signifies. 

That said we were drawn to this place mainly because instead of traditional motel rooms La Casa Nostra "motel" is actually a series of well appointed villas, each with an ensuite toilet, bedroom, kitchen type sink and counter space, motel frig, microwave and small patio. 

There is no actual stove so that it fits into a motel category. If the kitchen were to be fully equipped, it would be an apartment and not meet the zoning requirements.

All that said, we had an excellent experience, for which we have to thank the manager, Vicky. She was diligent, friendly, and very professional. 

There is a barbecue and laundry room (complete with washer and dryer) right in the middle of the property. Vicky has coins available at the desk if you don't have pocket money. 

Kangaroos are in the backyard, and an excellent tavern is just down the street.

As two people that have travelled much of the world, this is the best "Motel" and manager we have ever experienced.

La Casa Nostra / Our Home

We have stayed here a number of times travelling up and back from Victoria en route to Cairns each winter and always find our accommodation very clean and comfortable. Good quality sheets and towels.   The units being spaced widely apart and having carport attached feel so much nicer than a Motel after a big day in the car.  So far off the road, traffic noise is not an issue.  

The best motel by far

On trips from Brisbane to Townsville, we rarely stay in Rockhampton as we’ve found the accommodation terrible. Casa Nostra has completely change our minds. This was definitely the best motel room we have ever stayed in and we highly recommend it. We booked a Queen Studio for 2 nights and it was so spacious.  Very new and shiny, extremely clean.  Loved the kitchenette equipped for 2 and while is doesn’t have a sink, the vanity in the bathroom is big enough to make it easy to wash dishes.  The bed was amazing comfortable and really good quality linen.  The towels were good  quality too.  While situated on the north of town and away from the CBD, there are supermarkets, shops and eateries close by.  Also handy for a day trip to Yeppoon   It was very peaceful, we enjoyed sunset on the back patio watching the birds and kangaroos.  The shower is a generous size, great hot water and water pressure but just one small suggestion, a the addition of soap holder would make it perfect.  Will definitively be recommending Casa Nostra to people as a top place to stay. 

A really great place to stay.

By far one of the best motels we have ever stayed in. Practically brand new, very modern, clean, spacious and comfortable bed, great shower and bathroom, kitchenette, even had its’ own carport.
Excellent staff and set away from the road in lovely grounds.

Travellers paradise

If I could give 10 stars I would, very clean, spacious don't have a bad word to say about this Motel.
Managers are fantastic and make you feel very welcome. 
This is the only Motel I've ever stayed at that provides for all your needs. Highly highly recommended. 

Very highly recommended

Very quick and easy check-in is also possible at 7 p.m. in the evening. We had a small cottage that looked very inviting when we opened the door. Everything is very bright and modern. You are reminded with a note that you have to pay for everything that you damage and leave everything clean and laundered. Here is what you can say at the second glance: then the provider has to check and correct this even after the guests leave, we found very inviting utensils in the drawers of the kitchen. Also in the refrigerator there was a shelf floor and the holder of the bottle in the door, which made it impossible to put things in the kitchen. Unfortunately, even in the kitchen, there was a large packing box and there was not enough room to store them, but unfortunately, there was a large and large packing box, but there was no room to store them. Unfortunately, there was a large and spacious bathroom, but unfortunately, there was a large and spacious storage area.

It's a nice motel

Room 20......on first glance this motel offers a lovely room with nice outlook of countryside but when looking closer, the amenities are not great. The cleaning leaves a lot to be desired as under the bathroom vanity unit was dirty, skirting boards dirty, toilet, outside the bowl, was dirty. There was cheap hand soap in a different container for washing body, hands etc and in this age of covid it doesn't seem hygenic for dishes to be washed in a shallow sink used to wash yourself and clean teeth. Such a shame for this motel not to be up to standard as outward appearances are lovely. For the cost of this room $150 per night it really was a letdown. We were not told by management that there would be no change of towels etc on Sunday and placed ours on the ground for change and then had to go and ask for new ones. I understand shortage of labour but we still pay the same nightly fee regardless. We were very disappointed and next time would opt for a different motel.

Not worth the cost

We stayed here on our way to Townsville and on our way back.
The unit is spotless...stand alone accommodation in spacious grounds with your own carport.
Vicky was lovely to deal with and great customer service.
Will recommend  without hesitation.Vicky suggested we eat at the Parkhurst Tavern down the road and we did on both trips...excellent.......so first class accommodation and somewhere to eat down the road...Winners all round.!!!!

The best place to stay.

What a great surprise. This place looks so good on the web, it's nice to see the real thing is even much better. Compared to your everyday motel, the Casa Nostra Rockhampton is 5star plus. Separate villas (duplex some) are really new and modern. Quiet and well back from highway. The best travellers motel we have ever stayed in over 50 years of travelling. We stayed here a couple of weeks ago travelling north. Now going back south and it's terrific to be back today for a few days break on way home. This is real folks.

We stayed here for one night during our road trip and would be back again anytime. Beautiful, quiet, brand new, clean, spacious, modern and private complex. Easy and friendly check in. Would highly recommend it. Plenty of parking in own driveway for car and trailer.
