Drabstraat 2 Apartment

In September 2019, we stayed a few nights in Drabstraat 2, on the first floor, and were very satisfied. The apartment is spacious, nicely furnished, with a well-equipped kitchen. The hostess Ingrid is very attentive. The apartment is located in the center, near the corn market, so perfect for city explorations and also for excursions. With the tram you can travel about 20 minutes to the train station and reach from there from the convenient bridge (about 30 minutes) and Brussels (about 40 minutes). There are numerous shops and locations in walking distance, the design museum is just around the corner. It tastes especially good in Toi et moi, only 5 minutes away. In all: A recommendation:

Nice apartment, good location

We made Gent our home base while in Belgium and were very happy with our decision about the city and DrabStraat2.  We stayed four nights while we explored other areas of Belgium. We walked everywhere and enjoyed popping into little shops and found an amazing bakery, Himschoot, and an outstanding local mustard shop, Tierenteyn-Verlent.  While the apartment borders a very busy area along the canal, the room was very quiet.  One problem was it is above a wonderful chocolate shop that we could not resist stopping in every day we were there.  Great chocolates!
The apartment was quite large and included a gas fireplace that was cozy to curl up in front of on the chillier evenings.  The Kitchen had everything you could want to prepare meals.  We usually  ate lunch out and had bread and cheese and meats for a lighter dinner, but we did cook breakfast. Ingrid stocked the refrigerator with samples of local beers and water. We enjoyed tasting the various kinds and found a favorite.
The bed was very comfortable and the apartment was meticulously clean. We loved our stay here and highly recommend Drabstraat 2.
 There was an also an amazing linen shop across the street that I recommend.

Location, comfort, furnishings, all excellent

This apartment has an awesome location within steps from many things that we planned to see while in Ghent.  It was comfortable clean and well furnished.  The décor was simple and tasteful.  Everything that you would need to cook and serve a meal for up to six was in the kitchen.  There is even a chocolate shop right next door!  We stayed in the orange apartment on the second floor.  The bathroom contained a comfortably sized shower and included a hair dryer.  The bedroom was comfy and we slept very well here.  There is a gas fireplace to curl up next to in the evenings.  The coffee maker was welcome. Wi-Fi worked fine.  A very short walk up the street is a nice supermarket. A  wine shop was even closer. Parking is nearby, if you have a car  There is a pretty little park on the canal around the corner.  It was just perfect for us.  The only slight downside is that the narrow steep steps are a bit of a challenge with large suitcases.  We managed fine and we are over 60 years old.  But, if stairs are a problem, you want to keep this in mind.  As every reviewer says, Ingrid, the landlady, is just darling.  She went out of her way for us and made  us feel so at home.  The gallery for her stained glass studio is on the first floor.  This would be perfect for someone on extended stay for business, or as a base for a long vacation.  The tram stop is nearby.  We found an electronics store a 2 minute walk away to purchase a sim card for the phone.  The canal was just outside the door and the views were perfect.  This is right on the edge of the tourist area, yet we found it mainly pretty quiet, even with the windows wide open.  The Museum of Design is next door.

Home away from home

Really happy with this apparent located in the center of Ghent. Way better than choosing a hotel. There is a complete kitchen and there is a coffee machine. Internet is good. Small downside, was than we could slightly hear the food steps from the neighbor one floor above but this was no issue. 

Beautyful, cosy and central

Warm and helpful hostess, welcomed us personally. The apartment was very clean, warm and comfortable in an excellent location. Well worth a look rather than a hotel. Parking is 5 minutes walk away in St Michiels. Cannot recommend this apartment enough. 

Home away from home -  baby friendly

This apartment is not only ideally located right by the river and Graslei (and above a chocolate shop!) but is also really well designed and comfortable. We stayed in 201 on the second floor and it was exactly as pictured on the website. In addition, the owners are charming. Luc was outside waiting for us when we arrived and provided all the necessary information about using the appliances, which seemed brand new and included a fireplace – the latter a pleasant addition but not really needed as the apartment was very cosy. There were also has a number of guidebooks and maps. All the sites are close by and there is an abundance of restaurants within a few minutes walk. Highly recommended.
