This is a lovely, rustic  B and B with an amazing host. The accommodation is on a quiet, very safe residential street just outside the city centre. There are some very good restaurants walkable from the house and Uber is very reasonable. It’s an ideal place to base yourself to do the falls. Ole is the most hospitable host you can ask for and we were the only couple staying there , he likes to use just the one room so he can really look after you which he did, in spades. The breakfast is nice and simple and he can recommend how to travel around and local restaurants - which were very good BTW..
Ole is the reason  El Refugio gets 10/10 reviews.

An oasis of serenity in Foz.

It's a small, very nice hotel with two guest rooms, the owner's name is Ole, and he's a very friendly and helpful Dane, and everything is really perfect here - drop-in service, breakfast, quiet location and only about 25 minutes to the airport.

A green oasis in the middle of the city

This is an absolute find!  Everything about the place is perfect and the host ensures that anything you need is there for you.  I've stayed in 5* + hotels that do not offer the same level of comfort and attention to detail.  Highly recommended. 

Location is close enough to walk to the small city centre, and the host will drive you almost anywhere, plus uber makes it very reasonable to also get about.

Facilities are superb, from the stylish entrance to the 'boutique style' room.  A/C was perfect and the garden was to die for.

Breakfast was also excellent.

It is also good to meet such nice people as Ole and his family - Thankyou.

Outstanding

Beautiful property in a quiet location, very comfortable. Ideally located for visiting the falls in Brazil and Argentina. We were made to feel very welcome by the host, Olé, who gave us very good advice and helped us with our plans. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Great property, excellent host.

We left with a couple of friends and the stadium was very relaxing, very peaceful and attentive. we were very happy and satisfied with the attentions of Ole, who treated us very kindly. it is a special place worth knowing.

A warm, quiet place.

Travelling to Iguazu falls, we stayed 2 nights in this house run by Ole, a gentleman who pays great attention to his guests. Nothing to do in the area itself and no public transport but Ole gave us a drive to Brazilian Iguazu falls and helped a lot with formalities to change currency and cross the frontier to visit the falls in Argentina. A great sens of service which made our stay perfect. The room was comfortable and quiet. Also a nice breakfast and a swimming pool in the garden. A high level of customer service.

A wonderful host in a lovely house

My husband and I stayed with a couple of friends at the inn for three days. The house is graceful, with a very good taste decoration, in which each piece has its own story. The best is the attention and hospitality of the owner, the Danish Ole. It serves a delicious breakfast with fresh fruit and plenty. The inn has the necessary comfort and is ideal for those who seek tranquility. We return with the feeling that we leave a little corner that has become intimate in just three days.

Ole showed us Foz do Iguazu and gave us tips for day trips/restaurants.We accepted his offer and let him take us to the Iguazu Falls on the Argentine side - this saved us money, time and nerves. He is reliable and stands at the appointed time at the appointed place. He let us explore the other sights with public transport. But before explaining how we reach the Brazilian side of the Iguazu water. We had a good feeling at all the enterprises. In his house you feel welcome. There is a very satisfying breakfast in the garden with fruit, bread, eggs, upsets, yogurt, tea, fresh cakes, fresh cakes... but every day, there is a fresh and fresh taste in the kitchen.

Living in the middle of paradise...

Everything in this hostel makes hosting an unforgettable experience -- from clean and comfortable rooms to the hostel's decoration, to the excellent morning coffee and the hospitality and grace of Mr. Johansson.

A few days you'll miss

Juan, the son of Ole picked us up at the airport, took us to the Cataratas (both sides), drove us back to the airport, and in addition to informing us of everything and more, one day we asked him about a supermarket and he offered to take us and even expected us to buy our things. The breakfast was very rich and abundant, with the owner always paying attention if you need anything.
