Excellent family summer vacation! Best beach on a perfect lake! Fishing, boating, swimming! Quaint cottages, small campground, great family atmosphere! Perfect for both tents/RVs. Definitely a place to make memories!   

Fantastic family summer vacation! 

We stayed at Birch Cliff Lodge mid June as a quick escape following the provincial lock down.  We had originally booked it earlier in June and the management team, specifically Darlene, were so accommodating to change our dates when restrictions prevented us from visiting as planned.  It is a very cute place.  Our cabin (Everest) was very clean, well-equipped with everything you need, and perfectly cozy for 5 of us!  The bathroom could use an update but other than that we thought it was perfect!  We especially loved the screened in porch on the rainy nights.  The cabins are very close together, which we had expected based on reviews, so we had to be very aware of our noise level at night because our neighbours had small children.  Our cabin was a 30 second walk to the waterfront, Lake Baptiste, which was beautiful.  Overall, a great place to relax and reconnect with family and friends!!!

Mini vacation

We booked a cottage for our adult family for a peaceful escape to relax and recharge.  Birch Cliff resort did not disappoint! Beautiful location, spectacular lake.  The resort is very quaint and extremely well kept.  The staff are very friendly and always available for assistance if needed.  Our cottage was very clean and fully equipped.  Plenty of activities to do...or just sit on the dock and enjoy the beautiful scenery!  We will definitely return next year!

Perfect escape

I had a great few nights at this cottage location. My family and I were very pleased by their clean cabins. The kitchen was full of utilities that you’d need. The bathroom worked as well, only downside is the low pressure but it’s still not a complaint that would ruin your stay. We were able to rent a boat and enjoy our stay. I’d also like to mention that the employees were very sweet and professional. There is a gentleman who was helping us with our boat that wasn’t starting and had fixed it in 15-20 minutes. He was super friendly and was kind to everyone around him. Thank you! 

I’d recommend this location to everyone. Will definitely book as they are available once again.

Beautiful Views & Clean Cabins

We just had our second weekend stay at Birch Cliff Lodge ... and ... without a doubt we will return !!!
The clean updated cottages are rustic and cozy and the Property is well maintained ... plus ... the staff make you top priority and almost nothing is impossible.... just ask !!!
We used the dining room to host a dinner prepared by .. Alice’s Pantry  in Bancroft .. for my family ... the dining room overlooks the lake and it was spectacular... 
We enjoy the views and relaxed zen like atmosphere when we are there and are making plans for another weekend in the future .... 
I would encourage anyone to go to the lodge for as long as they could stay ... I can honestly say you will not be disappointed !!!!
Thank you everyone at Birch Cliff Lodge ... you made our weekend perfect !!!



Family weekend 

I was fortunate to secure accommodation here.  It was during the off season, just before the "rush".  The property is very well maintained.  I saw a groundskeeper raking the sand on the beach.  This is a cottage resort with camping available onsite.  All the cabins are rustic in appearance, but come complete with all the modern necessities.  Wifi, fast and reliable, is also included.  There are options for fishing and boating, and all the outdoor recreational activities you would expect, like smores around the campfire. The property is located close to Bancroft, ON,  so shopping and dining options are only minutes away.  The staff were all professional and courteous.  It is best to secure reservations during the off season.  I was informed that this resort was fully booked  for the entire summer.  However, there is still an opportunity in the Spring and Fall.  If you find yourself thinking about some place to stay close to Bancroft, ON and on the water front, then I would recommend the Birch Cliff Lodge.

Very pleased with Birch Cliff Lodge, North House cottage and boats.
Location of this resort offers amazing sunsets on Baptiste Lake shore (see attached pictures) and is right in between Elephant lake and Lavalley Bay
Lots of little bays with great fishing - very picturesque.

Cottages are very clean and come with everything needed, you only need to bring your own food/drinks/towels and enjoy the ontario awesome cottage country.
All the staff is very friendly and accommodating.

The grounds are well cared for, that includes the beach area which is combed every morning :).    We will definitely be back.   Thank You for a great trip!!!

Great Place for Everyone

Birch Cliff Lodge is beautifull situated on lake Baptist and the accomodation looked nice from the outside and had beautifull view over the lake, but....
- the toilet was blocked (could not be used at all)!
- no hot water in the shower (could not be used at all)
- spiders/webs everywhere (seems like we were the first ones to use the accomodation in a long time).
We reported the situation at the lobby but probably because of the Pentecost weekend the problems were not solved. Communication was very poor. So we had to use toilets elsewhere in restaurants and could not shower the entire weekend.
In the end we received a poor compensation refund of only Can$ 100.
A very dissapointing experience of what should have been a relaxed Pentecost weekend.

A beautifull place but dramatic facilities in the cabin

The resort and setting is lovely. My husband and  I went for three nights in October. We were the only ones there because they were in the process of shutting down for the season. The cottage was left open and key left on the table. The cottage was very clean and well equipped. We also asked to rent a boat which was left at the dock. The only saw one person one day by the dock who assisted us with getting the boat started the first day. Now the negative - For most of the time we were there it was stormy and a few times the power went out. At no time did anyone come to the cottage to check to see we were OK. During the storm a large tree fell across their road and we reported to them. The next morning someone did come and remove it, Still no one came to see if we were OK. Because of the stormy weather the lake was too rough to go out into most days. We did manage to go out 2 mornings for a few hours. I asked the property manager if we could get a refund for the boat rental and she assured us that they would send a cheque. To this day we have not received anything. I have made a few attempts to see if this was still possible and received no response. Conclusion - Lovely place but very poor customer service.

FAll Visit

We were very pleased with this pretty cottage resort during our stay at Shady Nook cottage for 2 nights over the Canada Day holiday.  The Shady Nook has a perfect location closest to the lake and its deck was quite private. The cottage (and the whole resort) was very clean and well maintained.  The towels supplied were very soft and fluffy.   All the staff we encountered were extremely friendly and accommodating. The owner was very pleasant and even working the desk when we departed.  

The Adirondack chairs on the lawn and in the covered sitting area beside the lake were very pleasant spots to sit and take in the beautiful views of Lake Baptiste.  The resort faces west and the sunsets were incredible.  Our family and friends who were camping at the resort were pleased with the campground and boat docking facilities too. We also enjoyed using the complimentary canoes on the lake. Cell phone service is good and the resort also has wifi, if you really need to stay connected.. The resort store was well stocked and reasonably priced and we were thrilled they carried Kawartha Lakes ice cream to serve with the cake for a birthday celebration during our visit.  It's wonderful to see a family owned resort, with a friendly family feeling like this still in existence.
