What could have been a unique experience staying in an authentic old house in the center of Montreal fell short for several reasons;
- the lack of a warm personal welcome (and yes the door is still tough to open)
- never met the owners, just our "host" who is a young student from another city, well meaning but not very talkative
- the general state of dilapidation of the furniture (several seats were either broken with missing legs or wobbly)
- below average breakfast (canned fruit salad, no jam for the toast, chemical tasting orange juice, luke warm water for tea - no thermos ?) though I will say the crepes were good and I won't mention the filter coffee
- total lack of room service, so I would not advise a stay of more the one or two nights
- erratic hot water, impossible to wash my hair
On a positive note, the location was great.

Run down and no charm beyond the creaky floor boards

Our Room at Jade Blue was clean and nicely appointed.  The bed was comfortable and bathroom towels were nice. Bathrobes were also supplied. The A/C was a bit noisy.  It is very convenient location for walking or using the metro. Linda, the owner, was very accommodating. We would stay again.

Convenient Montreal location

This was not a great experience. When we arrived  and we could finally check in we found the house not to be up to standard as far as cleanliness.  We rented the whole house in order to make our own meals  the kitchen was sticky, greasy and had left over food  in the microwave and oven. The stove top had a huge crack in it and did not look safe to use.   We had to create our own space in the fridge as well as clean it. The floor was dirty and some of the bathrooms had mold in the showers and looked like they hadn't been cleaned. We were not allowed to use the washer dryer even though  it said on the amenities list we could.  One evening some man we didn't know walked into the house with a key to the front door asking for the owner which made us feel unsafe.  When I spoke to the owner who did not live in the area she was upset and defensive. She did send someone the next day to clean and refunded some money but it was not worth the stress and the hassle.

Deceptive

This B&B was rated relatively well by both Tripadvisor and Booking. In fact, for a Frenchman, this B&B is too Anglo-Saxon... I'm not used to sleeping in the basement, or having toilet facilities crumbled... Breakfast is OK, on the other hand.

Disappointment

It's a good location, close to the show district and not far from the old town. Breakfast is varied and good. It's clean.

Well placed.

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights over the Canada Day long weekend in 2016.  Our room had everything we could need, including shower and sink, but the toilet was just down the hall which we knew in advance.  The room with the toilet is really a closet it was that small, otherwise I have no complaints!  The bed was super comfy and the hotel was in a great location.  We could walk to the old town, as well as all over the downtown and to nearby subway stations for trips to the Botanical Gardens and Olympic Tower.  

Breakfast weren't big but considering their prices I'm not surprised.  The staff were always prompt with the food and coffee/tea was ready as soon as we showed up in the morning.  Toast and cereal were always available as well in addition to the hot food.

I know other reviews have complained about certain things such as a "sketchy location" but you're staying in the downtown core of a large city!  We never had any issues with anyone.  And the neighbourhood was just fine.  Also, the key pad to get into the B&B worked fine.

Great location, Super Comfy Bed, Tiny washroom in Florence Room

Second time around was was even better than the first one . parking was just down the street, this time I had the medieval room with my private Jacuzzi inside the bedroom. The breakfast was a different type of home cooked concoction daily.  the bed was extremely comfortable, the The house is very historic built in 1870, giving it charm definitely coming back next year! 

Amazing second visit!

My wife and my 4-year-old daughter and I stayed two nights in this b&b in Montreal, which is a little naïve and bohemian, but we didn't regret it. The girl who welcomed us was extremely kind and caring. The rooms are very spacious. Our, slightly descending (yes so!), had two very comfortable beds, spacious spaces and a very nice bathroom with a hot tub. The breakfast was very good, especially the omelettes, with a wide choice. The location is central and close to many of the town's bars and restaurants.

B&B Bohemien

I booked the Louis XVI room for the night of July 19 last because I wanted to enjoy the Festival of African Nights to the fullest. I was received by Bettina with such warmth and a wonderful smile. Her generous listening, her concern to meet all my needs and her incomparable hospitality were very much appreciated. At lunch I had the happiness of meeting extraordinary people with whom I could exchange English and practice a little at night. I must say that I did not find Louis XVI in the dining room situation, as I was alone, I thought that he could join me in the room, but you know? I think I found my XVI corner at the Festival of African Nights.....hihihihihihi... When I could not find someone who could walk me along the same road and recommend me to the church without even knowing what happened to me.

What a welcome!

It's in a very, very marginal street, if you arrive at night it's hard to find because there are no lights or signs or anything, and there's no appetite to stroll around.
