I stayed at the Swiss Hotel for two nights.
Hotel location within a short walk  to Byward Market and Rideau mall. It is a clean and quiet boutique hotel.  The room was  well equipped and had plenty of storage space  Definitely a great value stay when visiting Ottawa


Swiss Hotel stay

A great boutique hotel.  Very close walking distance to Parliament and all the eating locations, Byward market square.  Very lovely owner, personable, and polite and very accommodating. Room was great, very clean and served our purpose for a few nights stay while attending University graduation event.  Nice patio outside in the back to sit and relax.  The complimentary coffee in the room was nice, but fancy coffees at the front desk area even better, a nice touch in the morning.  I did like the double security at the front door.  Oh, and homeless in the area has nothing to do with the hotel.  We witness homeless in every city.  A hotel I would return to without hesitation. This review is from a new traveler to Ottawa.

A lovely boutique hotel - no issues

What a charming little hotel and just as charming and accommodating is the owner. Spotlessly clean and recently updated so it all feels like new. Out back is a patio with numerous plants that is such a joy to have coffee in in the morning, or to relax after a busy day. Walkable distance to Parliament buildings and numerous restaurants.  Would definitely recommend. 

Great stay at Swiss Hotel

Never ever stay here. I came home after the office shut down and was locked out of the hotel because the staff didn’t key my card right. Another Tennent let me in and then I slept in the hallway I front of the room I paid for. I’m glad I made it in because the unhoused out front of this hotel are drugged up and very violent. Never ever stay here. I’m righting this from the dirty carpet in front of the room I paid for. Waiting for the staff that arrive in the morning to let me in so I can pack and never ever come back.

If your looking for a clean, quaint, charming European boutique hotel, the Swiss Hotel is your place. Sabine (owner) is welcoming and sweet. Great location, walking distance to all the local attractions.

Clean, quaint and charming

We checked in here for one night on our round trip. The surroundings are very accustomed, but the location of the hotel is very central. We were in a few minutes at all the important spots of Ottawa and also at the bars and restaurant corner of the byward market. The hotel itself is run by a Swiss couple, we also had a nice and interesting chat with the boss, Mrs. Sauter. We also got some tips from her. We could park around the corner for a small amount of money. Unfortunately there is no more breakfast, coffee, tea and chocolate in the morning and you can sit very hard on the terrace with your own kitchenette. Our rooms were on the third floor and very modern... but we were in a very small, very red bathroom and we slept in a very nice, very nice kitchen, but we drank a very good coffee, thank you very well.

This is a great boutique hotel.

You can stay at a faceless big hotel or stay at the Swiss Inn and meet Sabina, the owner, and other guests while you sip your cappuccino or other hot drink in the morning. The location is very convenient and very quiet even on a night when there was a fireworks display not far away. Our room was clean and nicely furnished and the bed was very comfortable. We encountered some homeless people in the general area, but not near the hotel and always felt safe. There are five park and stay parking places for $12 a day.  We would definitely stay at the Swiss Inn again.

Highly recommended

We make several trips a year to Ottawa to either drop off or pick our son up at University.  Normally, we stay at a Marriott downtown, but it's not always affordable.

We were pleasantly surprised by Swiss Hotel.  Our room was clean and well appointed.  The bed has a big fluffy duvet and the pillows were exactly the way we like them.  

Our room was not particularly large, but that was by choice.  They do have larger rooms.  We just opted for a more reasonably priced one.  

We were able to get one room for two nights at the same cost of one night at the Marriott.  How cool is that?

There are only a few parking spots, but we were able to get a spot on the same street and parked for free.

The owner is lovely and was extremely accommodating.  Coffee and tea are included in the price and there is a garden out back.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel and we will, no doubt, be back in the fall.

Good Value

Great hotel and very friendly staff! Close to downtown, everything you could want for your stay in Ottawa! Staff were meticulous. Establishment was clean. Surrounded by a quiet community of houses. Five stars! *****

Amazing and friendly!

This hotel.is not even a 2 star. The price per night should be no more than $100. The location is unsafe with homeless people and druggies. On top of that, the noise in the morning woke us up. Bathroom is a cubicle with no counter. Please do not believe the reviews as we did. To the owners, stop trying to pretend this is a boutique hotel.  I wonder who wrote the reviews I booked based on......
