I spent half a night in September 2019 at the Providence Place Motel in Port Hardy - half a night because I had to go to the ferry depot early in the morning for the ferry to Bella Coola. Location: in the center of the small port city. Reception staff/reception friendly and friendly and helpful. Rooms (I had one in the EC) are spacious, convenient and attractive. Flat-screen TV, coffee machine with utensils available. Bedrooms comfortable - bathroom is large enough, necessary utensils available. clean condition. Since there is no Continental brake, something was overpriced; an adjacent (Greek almost) restaurant was closed.

For one more night, all right.

Lino instead of carpet in the room and pretty rudimentary rooms. However on the plus side the room I was in was quite large, the beds were comfortable and the price was significantly lower than other hotels.

Definely a budget choice

Stayed one “memorable” night in this church owned hotel. On a 65F day rooms were in the 90s. No AC, bot even a fan. Plumbing made it almost impossible to shower. Tiny soap was good for a single, short shower. Carpets were stained, some towels dirty. Spent an unpleasant and a short night. The hotel people were very nice and helpful, but could not be of much help. Love my $34 hotel in Mexico, which is cooler nicer and by far more pleasant.

The health department should close this hotel.

Keep away from this one.

The hotel is relatively central. In the building there is also a Greek restaurant Mikonos which is also locked up for breakfast quite early. The owners are Indians. There is also Indian food. There is a coffee machine in the room. It was there in the winter - it was relatively cold because it was poorly insulated and only AC. Old tube TV.

When I booked via Booking.com, I did not know what we would get when we got there.  However, given the price, which was very reasonable, I decided to give it a try.  I'll admit the "Place" does need more fine tuning but all in all it was certainly acceptable.  The staff was friendly and very accommodating, as they had to change our room which some idiot had smoked in.  Our room, bedding and towels were clean.  Maybe the negative reviews have prompted them to pull up their socks.

Give it a chance.....

We were staying only one night, getting in late and leaving early.  Thought no need for something special.
The place smells old and damp when you arrive.
Our room was not clean, years of wear and tear, dust and not sure sheets had even been changed in the one bed, so slept together in the double.

Check in was efficient and friendly.

This place is very old and needs a lot of updating people living in back in camper.
Chinese food garbage was in hallway all day. People seem to be living there full time as they were always in hallways. Rear entrance to lobby is locked.

Do Not Go Here

We booked two rooms on a reservation. Although both rooms were listed on my confirmation, the Providence Place Inn only knew of one room and had only one room reserved. Luckily, they were able to offer a second room short-term, but it was more expensive. My complaint that we now had to pay more was denied because they had only one room reservation in their system. The hotel already looked unattractive from the outside. It also looks in need of renovation. The rooms were dirty, especially the ceiling was completely dusty, the beds were still OK. The location is fine, free parking is available. But I can't recommend another night there. I wouldn't recommend that hotel any more.

A night in Port Hardy

It's all in the title. We don't come here by chance, but to wait for the ferry. Nothing luxurious but space and reasonable comfort. Furniture that dates, but easy to park.

Enough to wait for the ferry

The only positive aspect is the location, reachable within a dozen minutes of the ferry landing and very close to the centre. Furthermore, the reception staff were courteous. However, the structure is very old and would need heavy repairs: the stairs and corridors have a very old stained carpet and smell. The rooms would be spacious and equipped with a microwave oven and refrigerator, but they are also old and have an unpleasant stench that hangs on you (I'm not joking, I had to wash my pajamas).
