Been there in motorcycles with friends and wife.Warm welcome,breakfast very good made by the owner.Bed perfect and clean.from outside it may feel not confortable but once inside its awsome.the configuration of the living aera make ppl talk all together.This B&B made our trip in Newfoundland a very very nice trip and experience.I would deffinitly come back.

Creepy feeling here. I actually did not feel good about my wife walking in ahead of me without me. Owner looked and acted unprofessional, said yes he could confirm our reservation, without actually knowing either of our names yet (when all I wanted was to ask first of all if we were in th right place, as it is QUITE far from St anthony itself). When we asked him to look us up in his records & ensure this was a legit business, he got defensive. Another guest came to complain about something & we quickly left. Very creepy. Very.

Cash only -- and now I can see why

Breakfast was awesome! Accommodations were roomy and comfortable.  Felt like a ship with rooms along the corridor with communal sitting/eating rooms.  Bit out of town but not too far, easy to access points of interest, quiet.  Time to relax from travels. Host was friendly and helpful.  Wifi was ok and no TV in rooms.  Common area had TV.

Old world charm.

This is a place for those who wish an experience out in the expanse of NFLD splendour. Out back, the view of picturesque Raleigh across the water; out front, the endless panorama of tundra and far off hills. Yes, this place is quirky. The cash only thing can be a pain, but I carry actual money, so no big deal. The owner does it all, from managing the B and B, to carrying on with his renovations and developments, so he is somewhat scattered. But he was always sincere and helpfull. This is a lodge type of accomodation rather than a prissy B and B set up. Rooms are clean but don't come with expectations of cute, darling themed room decors and mints on your pillow. I have spent a great deal of time on the road and this is fine for me although my wife would have preferred a somewhat more upscale operation. To each their own. My type of person would be quite happy there. This is out of town, and you will either like it for this fact, or you will not, if you wanted to be closeted right in beautifull downtown St. Anthony. My review is a 3 star but only because there is no way of giving it a 3 plus, which is more accurate. It serves its purpose very well IMHO. I took more pictures around there than around the other B and Bs I stayed at on The Rock. I would go back. I couldn't choose Sept. 2019 in the review menu which is when we stayed there, not Sept. 2020, which I clicked to be able to submit my review.

Rustic location, dramatic views, good basic accomodation, would stay agan

This is NOT the Ritz-Carlton and it's NOT located at Half Moon Bay and if that's what you were expecting to get for a only few dollars, you'll likely be disappointed. 
However, if you came all the way through Newfoundland looking for a reasonable place to base your northern explorations, then this might be just what you are looking for.
My wife and I spent 2 nights here and were sufficiently pleased with our stay. The proprietor, Lyn, seems like a decent enough guy who enjoys Molson (according to his t-shirts), but he seems a little scattered at times. Perhaps this is just part of the relaxed Newfoundlander attitude too. 
There were, however, some quirks to our stay, but not enough to fuss about. There are two small TVs for guests. The one in the dining/community area is a modern flat-panel type connected to a satellite (or cable) system. The one in the back room is an old-fashioned CRT (tube type) TV console connected to a DVD player. There is a large library of DVDs to select from, but none seemed to be recent releases (though I did not look through the entire collection).
There are several burned out bulbs in the hallway and one in our room, but it's not enough to make navigating at night a problem. 
The hot water gets very hot, but while showering the temperature regularly fluctuated between hot and chilly. Fortunately, the fluctuation was accompanied by an unusual whining sound that would warn when the chilly water was about to hit. This would be my #1 complaint, but again, it was just a part of the experience.
Nobody can complain that this place is hard to find. It's on the only road there is. It's in   a wide open space at the top of a hill. The landscaping consists of big rocks and small rocks, but that pretty much sums up all of the north peninsula of Newfoundland. From the front the Wildberry Country Lodge looks quite plain. Perhaps the words "Country Lodge" evoke images of something other that what is there, but it is what it is. Like many places in Newfoundland (or any rural area), there are rusting hulks of old snowmobiles, pickup trucks, etc. located on the premises and this place is no exception. From the rear, the Wildberry seems to be a work in progress featuring some new construction, some old and some unfinished, but that doesn't affect a visitor's comfort.
Speaking of comfort, the beds were comfortable and clean. Bath towels weren't plentiful, but Lyn would gladly supply you with more if requested.
Having access to the entire kitchen allowed us to save on our food budget by buying a ready to bake pizza from the Foodland grocery store in town and bake it in the oven at our home-away-from-home.. 
Breakfast was plentiful and included a variety of breads, cereals and fruits. The coffee and OJ  were good. On our second morning, Lyn offered to cook eggs which we didn't expect.
My #2 complaint was that the wi-fi internet was inconsistent. The wi-fi would connect, but the internet connection would drop occasionally. Myself and another guest took it upon ourselves to reset the modem which resolved the issue for a while.
Lyn's insistence on cash payment seemed odd for any business of this type in this day and age, but according to a plaque on the wall, the certification for this establishment has been expired since 2015. That may explain somethings. As long as no legal issues arise, I don't care.
All-in-all our experience at the Wildberry Country Lodge was a positive one and we'd do it again.

A decent location at a fair price

Against my better judgment I booked here for one night despite the iffy reviews. We arrived at 6pm to find a crowd of a dozen members of one group waiting to check in, and the owner (or any staff) nowhere in sight. Some existing guests also told us horror stories about the place and owner. After waiting 30 minutes without a way to find or contact the owner, I decided to book another lodging nearby rather than wait. Now I’m getting emails from the owner demanding payment and no apologies for any of the experience - and in fact, all the emails you will get from the owner will be rude ones to remind you to bring cash (I got three such emails over the course of a month.)

If you want to stay in the hotel from The Shining, this is the place for you. Otherwise, avoid it.

Terrible place, don’t go

We made and paid for our reservation in advance through booking.com.   Had we not already paid, I would have probably chosen to go elsewhere after arrival.    There seemed to be a strange disconnect between the proprietor, Lyn, and whoever takes the money online for this place.   Upon arrival we were asked to pay in cash for our room, and I had to explain that I had already paid in advance.   This was met with some profanity and a lot of muttering.     Eventually, we were shown a small room at the end of the hall after passing by many  others that appeared empty.    At a loss, we said okay and stayed there.

The room was ultimately comfortable, though lacked internet during most of our stay.     We got up early and found some tea and cereal in the kitchen and helped ourselves to a little breakfast.

A bit off kilter.

We stayed here in late July . We came in early and Lyn was kind enough to let us pick our room and leave our luggage.
We were taking in the many sights in the area and the location was great for us.
It is not a 5 star place by any means. BUT, the owner (Lyn) was hospitable and told us many stories of moose and bear in the area.
We also met other travellers in the common room and it was a nice experience.
Our trip was 34 days from Ontario to NFLD in total and staying at different places is part of the experience.
I say: give it a try and step out of the box.
Lyn did his best being a one man show.
He explained that it is hard to get help in this more remote place. So he does everything himself.
Bedding was clean and towels clean. We had a great experience there.

looked rough from the outside BUT?

Despite the outside appearance of the lodge ( it is undergoing upgrades) , the inside was charming , & very clean ! The owner was very attentive and allowed us to arrive earlier than planned and leave our luggage and freshen up before we journeyed on to see the vikings. Upon our return we gathered in the common room for social time  and snacks. Breakfast consisted of a variety of choices eggs, bacon, pancakes, muffins, toast, bagels.... We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone. The owner, Lynn, was a gracious host !

Great Experience

We wanted to stay here, but then we canceled the booking. When we arrived there was no one there for the reception. Guests from the lodge opened the door and told us that the owner was somewhere in the house (cleaning). After a while we could look at our intended room. For 2 people it was definitely too small and the bed would have been just enough for 1 person. In another lodge such a room would have been offered as a single room. Unfortunately, nothing else was available. So we canceled our booking and stay elsewhere. What I would definitely like to mention is that the owner was very helpful and very kind in the cancellation and the search for another accommodation. Also, for the next room we would have had a reasonable distance away from Cheminée and a large area to escape from here, but this would have been far from where we were.
