We had the most amazing time at this resort. The rooms were great, the food was unreal and the staff were extremely accommodating! We highly recommend this resort to all families looking for a fun/relaxing getaway!

There was soo much for the kids to do! They had lots of shows/competition/slide and slides and stargazing events. Every couple of hours was a different event for the kids to join in on.

Big shoutout to all of the staff in the restaurant! We did not have 1 bad experience with Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner considering how busy it was for the staff. They were extremely accommodating and very friendly.

Overall, we had the most amazing time and will be planning on going again next year to make more memories!

The most amazing vacation!

Food was very good, appreciated the live guitar player on the deck on Friday evening and the kids programs. The room we had , Waterside, was very comfortable. Staff were very friendly and courteous. My one disappointment was the sea weed in the water, especially by the sandy area where the kids played. Could this not have been dredged in late May to ensure better swimming for the kids and adults. I really love swimming in lake water. The weeds were a turn off. I hope the management can look into clearing the weeds out pre summer. Many thanks

July w/e stay

This is the preferred vacation spot for my kids. They have always some fun activity to do, with or outside the Kids Club. Water sports, biking, hiking, or just siting by the lake, family friendly,  resort inviting for a nice weekend or longer stay. And the food….hmmm….Mom approved!  Always fresh and well prepared, compliments to the Chef. We’ll ba beck next year!

Always something fun to do

We were at Severn Lodge for a few days.
I've been going to Muskoka for 60+ years. It was very serene for Muskoka/Georgian Bay.
Staff were courteous, helpful and pleasant. Food and service was excellent.
We saw deer, beaver, blue heron, kingfisher, hawks, ducks, geese, etc - lots of wildlife.
Few motorboats. Water was calm. It was easy to get boats.
Room was clean. No bugs due to good screens. A/C if we needed it.
We're going back for a few days later this summer.


Wonderful place to visit

We visited during the Victoria Day holiday and stayed for two nights. Despite the staff being in the midst of preparations for the busy summer season, and some undergoing training, they were incredibly polite and made our stay delightful. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the wonderful dining experience, which exceeded our expectations. This was our second visit, the first being last October, and we have truly fallen in love with this place. We are already planning to visit again in the upcoming fall.

Great Place for Family

On August 5th I made a reservation by phone with Severn Lodge.  On August 25th I received a brief message from someone telling me my reservation was cancelled, no name was given, or a contact number, apology, or explanation.  This ruined my holiday as it was one portion of my vacation and I was unable to fill this hole with another comparable resort due to the short notice.  The assistant manager’s assertion was that I should be appreciative that they caught the mistake before I arrived to check in.

After contacting the assistant manager and general manager at Severn Lodge their best offer to compensate for what happened was a free lunch, a charcutier board in the room and “maybe” 10% off at checkout with my next booking.  I declined and reached out one of the owners, Jamie Hopkins, of both Severn Lodge and Santa’s Village who upheld this offer.  

I declined, it does not seem reasonable that I should pay for the company’s opportunity to win me back as a customer.  To me, their unwillingness to take a financial penalty for what happened that was 100% their mistake communicates this: “we do this kind of thing occasionally and don't care much if it happens”.  Why would they care if making such mistakes cost them almost nothing?  Under these circumstances I’m not willing to trust my vacation with this company and I’m writing this review to warn others of my experience with Severn Lodge and the parent company Santa’s Village.  They have shown a lack of customer appreciation or any value in customer loyalty and do not live up to their assertion to provide the “highest level of hospitality” as they state on the Santa’s Village Website.

I will not trust my hard-earned vacation with a company like this.

Note:  part of my trip was to stay at Deerhurst Resort where my reservation was honoured, customer service was excellent, and my check-in easy and friendly.



Severn Lodge - Very Disappointed

This was a return visit which did not live up to our previous experience a year ago The exception was the excellent food and wait staff and the waterfront is beautiful. 

 Evening programming was run by teenagers, children's programming was uncreative and same as last year.  The games room is small and limited in equipment, which was also out of order, though they had a new ping pong table.  It was very disappointing and we will not return.  Just seemed staff was tired and bored, not engaging the guests.  The teen staff basically hung out together, doing the minimum and getting drawn into presenting an inappropriate skit / dare that took time  away from the only scheduled activity our children were interested in - i.e. fishing.  We expected more maturity on their part in a leadership role. 

Hopefully the new owners will revitalize the program and actually bring in nightly entertainment, eg the magician from last year.  Evening activities should also be on the waterfront, which brings more people out, as it was last summer  Where was the organized camp fire and smores this year?  Hiring an arts student to bring more creative ideas to the children's program would be helpful.  If the resort wants return business, it needs to up it's game and have a more interesting and varied program every summer.  

We were also concerned about the way the waterfront was not adequately supervised, as we witnessed a near fight occurring between older teens and an adult on the floating trampine.  As a result the younger children were put at risk of being thrown off in the cross fire and we're not able to play on it for several hours while the teens ruled..

This year's score from us goes from a 5 to a 3.

Disappointing return visit

Severn Lodge really grew on us throughout our stay.  Of course there are always minor things to improve upon, but the staff were lovely to my entire family and we loved the water sports and daily entertainment.  The food was OK.  My 7-year old adored this place. 

Great for kids

We had an amazing family time and new friends made!  The children’s camp club was excellent!  The lake and surrounding land made the view spectacular and the city jitters go away was a welcome feeling of relaxation.  The food was delish and lots to choose from.  Often took more than we could consume.  Our time there at The Severn Lodge was just what I had hoped for to bring our family closer together and to enjoy the amenities.  Thank You to all the employees for making our vacation so wonderful…

Summer Vacation 

Great staff. Super place for family fun and relaxation. Excellent supper meals. Wonderful evening entertainment. Breakfast buffet was filled with home-made goodies. The grandchildren still dream about returning.
