We recently had lovely one night stay at this B&B. It was very clean and met our needs for a relaxing evening and a great night sleep! Eileen is a great hostess, very friendly and hospitable. A delicious hot breakfast was available in the morning. Eileen offers several options and cooks whatever you choose! This is an awesome place to stay. We will definitely recommend it to friends and we hope to stay here again in the future!

Amazing Host and delicious breakfast

Banberry House B&B has a great downtown location, and delicious hot breakfasts every morning, but our room (second floor at the back of the house) had several problems: The toilet plugged twice during our stay, and the towels smelled musty, even when new ones were provided. The bedding smelled like it had not been freshly  laundered, and the mattress pad and fitted sheet fit so poorly that they came off the bed two and three times each night. Upholstered headboards look nice, but are difficult to clean, therefore should not be in a bedroom that is used by so many different people.

Bedroom Needs Improvement

We really enjoyed our 3 night stay here!! Room was very clean, and the host Eileen was excellent. We got to pick what we wanted for breakfast either eggs any style, pancakes, french toasts or omelette. Breakfast was delicious every day!!

Only thing is that there is no AC, just a fan in the room, so it got really hot on our first night, even with the windows open. The other two nights, it was okay, the windows were able to cool the room enough.

Amazing host, delicious breakfast!

Fantastic location, good breakfast, comfy bed and pretty little room.  BUT...

Coffee is not good...walk to a nearby coffee shop for that.  Also, there is no fan or a/c (at least not in our room on the third floor) so if it’s a warm day count on a poor sleep.   With windows open, the street sounds interrupt sleep all night, yet it’s necessary for airflow when it’s hot.  Our guest room was at the front of the house so I would recommend requesting a back facing room.   Also, all of our towels (every day) including wash cloths and hand towels were musty with a gross mildew smell.   The owner needs to add a capful of bleach in her laundry loads at the very least and use her dryer on a full dry setting, because even our replaced towels were damp and mildewy.  I can’t stand that.   I just drip dried out of the shower.  Overall the house needs a deep clean.   The stair well isn’t kept up and the rug and corners are dirty.  I just killed a centipede in our bathroom...checking out tomorrow.

Great and not so great

Great location to downtown, can walk from the premises. Parking is at the small store across the street (careful, left turn is not allowed). Eileen makes the best breakfast and a gracious hostess, with lots of recommendations of where to eat. We were at the shoulder season (end May) so the place was not full. Breakfast was cozy, everyone knew each other (after 1 day) and was the best time to get hints and recommendations on where to go and see the bergs.

This Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance to St. John's downtown - great restaurants, shops and bars.  
Host, Eileen, offers the widest range of breakfasts ever.  Just name what you would like for breakfast - omelette,  pancakes, eggs (any way), french toast, granola!!  

Our room was comfortable with nice furnishings.  The downside - it faced Military Road - a busy street all day and well into the night.  If you don't mind the drone and revving of car engines then you would be okay in this room - #1.  Otherwise request another room.  We ran the fan on high to help drown out the street noise.

Great location, service and breakfasts.

We booked this accommodation based on all positive previous reviews a month in advance, and were really looking forward to our stay. However when we arrived late at night, after 12 hour flights, jetlagged and tired we were told that we are not staying in this property as it has been overbooked, that we have to go to their sister property. How can you overbook a property and not know it until the last minute, and not bother to inform your guests? I understand mistakes happen, but a normal practice would be to apologize and inform us in advance not when we arrive and have no choice. Having spoken to other guests at the sister property, it seems it is a common occurrence to be overbooked at this place. Luckily for us, the sister property was brilliant - RYANs MANSIONS - I would definitely recommend staying there.

Stayed July July 26 to 29, 2018 - Found this gem in the Newfoundland Tourism Guide. Glad we arranged our trip so we would have three days back to back - only wished we could have stayed longer. We were so impressed – from the main floor room with en-suite to the absolutely delicious breakfasts we were extremely happy with our choice. The location was perfect – walkable to the waterfront, George Street (pubs), the Rooms (museum), the Spirit of Newfoundland (dinner theatre), the Basilica and Convent next door, where you’ll find the marble carving called The Veiled Virgin, an exquisite piece. 
Eileen was there to greet us and once settled she helped us by making suggestions for a casual dinner near the waterfront.  She prepared made to order breakfast every morning – not just one selection but three or four, really whatever you could want – beautifully presented fruit cups to the full-meal-deal – eggs, done the way you like them from poached to scrambled, bacon and toast with a garnish of fruit.  Scrumptious.
We lucked into parking right out front of the building, although other guests had to park across the street.
Next time we visit St. John’s we’d opt to stay here a week but we know we’ll have to book far in advance – very busy summer time.

Great location plus!!

This bnb is a great location for accessing many restaurants in St. John's. The room was comfortable,great breakfasts and a friendly and welcoming host. The building is decorated nicely,clean and parking is across the street( tag is provided). It is 10 min walk( downhill) to several restaurants and 17 minutes to the St. George entertainment streets. We would gladly stay here again!
