We went for a day's walk to San Felipe and decided to stay somewhere without any references.We Googled this place, we called it by phone and by half an hour we were already installed and enjoying the swimming pool.You really feel at home. Beautiful spaces. You notice that there is a lot of love put into this house converted into a rural hostel.

A pleasant surprise.

Made a reservation via Booking.com for this property back on 18/3/18 with confirmation details and payment schedules by which I was happy to pre-pay, if that was the case to guarantee booking. On 2/11/18 received notification from booking.com that the hotel wanted to cancel my reservation. When I contacted them to arrange payment they emailed me saying: 
"Preziada Giselle, lamentamos no poder recibirla, el hostal estará completo ese día, por eso solicitamos la cancelación de la reserva. No debió entrar la suya, disculpe las molestias..." 

It seemed nice property from the website, but they can not be trusted with reservations, particularly if you arrive to Chile from long haul flight during Christmas period with nowhere to stay. Shame on you Hostal Rural Santa Maria!

Unreliable

A very peaceful place where everything seems to come out of those custom books that talk about our Chilean countryside, the house is the most attractive with its comfortable, spacious rooms, with small windows that highlight the years of the house and its colonial characteristic in large part adobe, the decoration is beautiful! everything very special and with a good taste a perfect blend of country, old and contemporary. By day the pool is very nice, and at night it has a kitchen that helps prepare some food or a quincho to make a roast I occupied the kitchen and made my coffee whenever I could in a quiet and familiar atmosphere, asado I did not, but I lived like other guests who enjoyed and travelled through the city.

It's a lovely place to visit.

We had the opportunity to visit this lovely and cozy hostel over the weekend.We were a group of friends with our children, a total of 12. Goya and Ivan are lovely, they make you feel at home. There is plenty to do in the surroundings, especially tours to the Viñas cerquita. The rooms are lovely and very comfortable. I highly recommend it for relaxing, reading, enjoying the swimming pool in the summer, but also a warm atmosphere in its varied interior spaces.

Welcome to visit with friends and family.

The truth is that if you really want to rest and be grateful and be treated well, you have to take a walk around this corner. You can access a Hot Tube looking at the stars and with a fountain in your hand or simply enjoy the pool or if you just want to sleep, it's your choice. There's a very nice quincho to make you an asadito (that you have to share with the tonka a beautiful dog mixture of doberman, super interested).

The secondary parts of Buenos Aires.

I loved it, very nice the place especially the outdoor dining room and terrace, beautiful, very friendly the people and hostesses who work there, I come very grateful and hope to return.....I recommend it 100%.

It's a wonderful hotel located in the village of Santa María.It has antique furniture, a nice swimming pool for the summer, a fireplace for the winter so you can chat with a little wine in a relaxed atmosphere.The rooms are large and with a very spacious and restored bathroom.Everything super cute and clean.I highly recommend it!!!Delightful breakfast!!!

A cozy hotel with a lot of history.

Deep in the countryside just north of Santiago, and close to the highway across the Andes to Mendoza, we found this gem of a rural accommodation. It is not a 5-star international hotel chain place, you will be disappointed if you expect such, but the absolute opposite: a small, pretty basic private accommodation with some of the most warm and forthcoming hosts we have met through years of travel. Carmen Gloria and Ivan will do their utmost to make you feel welcome. From little extra treats here and there to expert advice on where to go and what to explore.

Mind you, there is no theme park around, no fancy restaurants, no extraordinary museums or such. The attraction is the easy life in the countryside itself, their lovely garden and great pool, and in the surroundings quirky villages, fantastic boutique vineyards and lush valleys against the backdrop of the Andes peaks. 

We had booked for three nights, and afterwards regretted we hadn't stayed for at least a week.

Outstanding hospitality

I hate writing this review but feel obligated. The owners Barbara, Victor, and Carmen-Gloria are lovely people, and when you stay here you feel like you are honored guests of their family, which in a very real sense you are. There is a very attractive pool in the back of the property to relax. We were sitting by the pool on a hot afternoon and they brought us a glass of cold water and a bowl of delicious fruit as refreshment. If given notice, for a very reasonable cost they will make you a simple dinner complete with pisco sour which you can eat in a lovely outdoor setting by candlelight. Breakfast is fine.

So why the low rating? Despite the name of the place, it is not in the country but on an unattractive street in an unattractive town, a few blocks from the main square.  If there is an attractive aspect to Santa Maria, we missed it. We did not feel encouraged to explore the area. Santa Maria itself is difficult to find, even with a GPS, and it takes longer to get to Route 60 than a look at a map might suggest. The owners were strangely reluctant to give detailed directions to the property, even when asked by email. There is no wi-fi available.

The public areas of the property are well maintained, and give the feeling of an old hacienda. Our room, however, looked like it needed a good scrubbing and painting. It was very dingy looking. The door to the room was mostly glass, but there was no curtain, so there was no privacy or way to shut out the light. The hot water tap was not hot and the cold water tap did not work at all. They eventually fixed the hot water but not the cold. Even without these problems, accomodations are very basic. I wish I could recommend this place, but by U.S. standards unfortunately I cannot.

Lovely people; unattractive location; substandard accomodations

We stayed one night at this family driven hostel, and we feelt like a part of the family straight away;) They wee so welcoming and nice, they even invited us out to a bar with them. Keep in mind that they don't have have dinner service, but there is a empanadas place just a 5 min walk away! 
I woul definetly choose this as my place to stay next time I'm in the region!
