We booked a basement room (no window). The room was poorly ventilated as there was no air-cond. The hotel was poorly maintained, seemed like the owner has no interest in up keeping good service level. Avoid this hotel if you can or at least avoid room without window. There are plenty better choices in Beijing.

Poor ventilation and smelly

Stayed here for one night we were happy to stay in the basement floor as it was a cheaper deal, on arrival the staff were unwelcoming, we headed down to our room the first disappointment was when we were immediately met by peeling wallpaper and dirty floors. I attempted to move the bedside table to push the two twin beds together but there were clumps of dust and dirt behind it like it hadn’t been cleaned since it was put in there. There were horrible mould stains on the roof and when we attempted to watch tv or charge our phones we found 2 out of the three plugs weren’t working. It then got worse in the bathroom the tiles and roof panels were covered with mould and the shower curtain and shower head were filthy the tap looked like it hadn’t seen a cloth for a few weeks also, then to our disgust we found cockroaches crawling around the walls. We attempted to connect to the WiFi which we were struggling with so we phoned the information line for help but we were just hung up on and later when we attempted to ask for a taxi to be ordered they just shook their heads at us and didn’t even attempt to help us. We fully understood that we weren’t looking at a luxury room for the price we were paying, but even with a good clean it would have felt a bit better, we spoke to someone else staying in the basement floor and he was also unhappy with his room. The cleaner barged into our room even though we had the do not disturb sign on then spent 5 minutes mopping the bathroom floor and re stocking shampoo whilst we tried to explain we didn’t want this. We paid £30 for the room and we are now staying in a different hotel for £15 and it is a million times better for half the price would not advice anyone to stay here especially not on the basement floors!!

Cockroach Hotel

We arrived at the hotel with the reservation made and we were asked for 100 yuan guarantee per night and room. We gave the guarantee and on arriving at the room we checked the terrible condition in which they were. It was a room in the basement without windows, with humidity on the ceiling, cold, with the paper of the walls unfolded. We asked the receptionist to change our room and showed us another room the same. We decided to go without spending the night and the man at the reception did not want to return the guarantee of the reservation. We asked for more for a room on the 8th floor, as he was trying to do. After getting to know us better with a translator on the reception computer (only speaking Chinese) for one hour, we finally returned the lograms that guaranteed us.
