That is terrible. The smallest room I have ever been to. 4 stars you say? No way, oh noninono. 
I need to wash hands IN THE LIVING ROOM. Have you gone mad? The is no place even to be! 2 beds - and no free place. No place to open luggage. It is ok if you have none, but when both have - there is even no place to put it! There’s no air to breathe. And air conditioner doesn’t work! 90$ per night?!!! Seriously?

Yes, it is near wanfudzin street. But this plus is the only one. 

I booked for 7 nights. When I came and saw this hell, a decided to stay for 1 night as I came in the evening - but the staff began to tell me it impossible, there will be no money back, then - penalty. 

So you don’t want to come here again. Oh no.

Bad. Very bad. Location is good though.

The actual name in front of hotel is East Sacred, and the facade looks exactly as in the photos so just go right in, taxi will drop you on main road so you go into the little lane and walk about 3 minutes to reach. There's a lovely lobby in Chinese style, receptionist bit fussy with details and foreigners need to have date of entry stamped by Immigration checked. No elevator, you haul your luggage up one flight of stairs, room fairly large with sink of interesting design like old water mill trough outside bathroom. Bathroom modern fittings but water splashes all over the floor as there's no cabin, no floor mat either. However shampoo and body gel fragrant with essential oils, leaves hair bouncy and fluffy!
No fridge, open wardrobe where you can hang clothes adequately. Bed comfortable enough though there's only one rather flat pillow for each person. Cleanliness not tiptop, bit of dust over sheets maybe from construction in area next to our room. Housekeeping also not meticulous as used cups left unwashed and paper cups not replenished. However, there's free flow of hot and cold water in the lobby (a big plus for this hotel) and 2 bottles of water in room. 
Hotel also can organize Great Wall tours for you but bus leaves early 7am from hotel. 
Not that near the mrt, walk about 20 minutes through the very busy and touristy Food Street. Mrt to Forbidden City needs 2 changes of lines and one line is long and winding. Probably better to take taxi there but taxis not allowed to stop near the entrance whereas mrt stops at Tiananmen Square and you can walk to entrance to Forbidden City. 
Best thing about the hotel is the area with lots of small shops for inexpensive meals. We simply loved the little pau shop round the corner which blares out 'Jau chan, Jau chan' (Mandarin for breakfast) from a little megaphone, best pau, soybean and youtiao ever tasted at very cheap prices. They open at 6am so no problem if you need to go off early. 
Hotel also kindly keeps bags for you if you check out early. Not much or no English spoken.

Hutong experience in traditional style hotel

Staff were kind enough to upgrade us to a room with a larger bed for me for no extra. Room has all the essentials and is no more or no less than it needs to be. Location is close to a populated shopping street with plenty of food, clothing and retail options available. Train station is about a five minute walk and Forbidden City isn't too far of a walk as well.

Would stay here again.

Great Location and Great Staff

The hotel is in a great place  you can walk to the Forbidden City, the subway is also nearby. The taxi driver at first couldn't find this hotel and brought us to the Novatel Peace Hotel. When we arrived at the hotel that is pictured in the photo, we were told that our hotel is on the side street. It's a little scary to walk with your bags down the dark street, not knowing where you're going.. We booked the hotel directly (in any case, we thought we had booked), but the girl at the registration desk just laughed indulgently and she said that this booking was useless because it didn't apply to them. I still took a room (I booked a little on the Great Wall of China and was checked by MasterCard hotel) but the price turned out to be a little cheaper, but when they asked me to check it out, I said, I don't want to get a good room here, but I'm not going to pay for our service.

It's a nice place, but a little unusual.

This hotel has a great location being within walking distance of the Forbidden city and also close access to the metro.  The taxi driver couldn't find this hotel and took us initially to the Novatel Peace Hotel. Once we arrived at the hotel shown on the picture we entered and were told that the hotel was down the alleyway at the side. Pulling the bags down a dark laneway where your not sure where you are going is a bt daunting.

We had booked this direct or at lest we thought we had but the girl on the desk just laughed in a condensending manner and said the booking was worthless as it was nothing to do with them. I still got a room ( I had booked a great wall tour to meet me at the hotel) but the price was higher than the other quote and when I tried to use my mastercard she said no Cash Only.  Then she said do you want a receipt which we said yes only to be told she can't give me one. why I don't know.

the triple room was a little small but okay for what we wanted and served us a abase to get around beijing from.

I doubt I would stay here again as although the location is good the hotel itself is a little run down and the service is poor.

We stayed at this hotel in March this year for about 10 nights.
For the money you pay for it, this hotel is really nice. Very  good central location; there is a subway nearby and also a big shopping street. Please note, that the central sign with the hotel's name is only in Chinese. It's a good idea to have it translated before you go. Also, if you're going there by taxi, have a note with the adress and the name of the hotel in Chinese. English is not really a popular language in Beijing. The hotel staff aslo does not speak much English, but this could be compensated by its friendliness. We managed somehow to communicate and they even ordered a taxi for us the day we had to check out.
When we checked-in we had to pay a deposit of about 200 yuan, which we got back the last day. Leaving a deposit was kind of surprise for us but, on the other hand, we checked ourselves in at 6 am..The 24h-reception is a big plus!
Our room was clean and nice.It was much better than what we had expected. There is also a TV, but all the programs were in Chinese. 
All in all, a good choice if you're searching for a nice and reasonably priced hotel in Beijing.

for the money you pay, it is probably the best choice for a hotel in Beijing

i found this hotel on TA ( China site ). Of course, there were good and bad comments on the forum.

First,  i am facing some minor difficulties during the check - in process. I called them one day in advance to book the room, but upon my arrival, they told me they do not have  my reservation information. i asked them to re-check and gave them my chinese name.
They re-checked and finally solved the problem and gave me a room ( room 204). honestly, i am not very sure, did they found my chinese name ?or just simply gave me whatever available room, but they still  make it and allowed me to check -in 2 hours earlier. ( oficial check-in time is 2 pm onwards ). Another merit point, the staffs at front desk and second floor did a good job. they helped me to get a multiple purpose electrical plug ( free of charge ) for my handphone and camera. i am very happy and really appreciate this, cant imagine if these 2 most impotant devices run out of battery.. i will cry..

There is another minor problem inside room 204, the air-con is not working well. it is not cool enough and i had to opened the window ( slightly opened ) to let cooler air from outside coming to the room ( its about 13`C outside at night ). its ok for me as i am come from tropical country and the air-con does not brings me a hussle. Room is clean, No smells, bathroom is clean, sound prove is ok but you still can hear someone is talking when they were passing by the corridor or someone shut the door ( not very sure on the other floor )

i stayed 4 nights at room 204, and checked out on the following day in the early morning. But a friend of mine is on the way to join me on the late affternoon, again, they did a good job and reserved another room ( 2 single beds @ room 207 ) for me, i leave my luggage at the security counter and paid / check -in for the unprepared room first ,so that my friend could have some rest upon his arrival and i proceed to explore beijing city without wasting time to wait my friend.

Also, good location, just behind Wangfujin area, near to the WANGFUJIN subway station. easy to find food, Meishijie( food streets ) just a few steps away but close at 10 pm sharp, dont worry Mcdonald is nearby & 24 hrs. 

Overall, i am happy with this hotel, and i will stay there again if i have a chance to visit beijing.

it is ok if you are not too demanding

Excellent location but really a hotel designed for locals. Probably a little more upmarket than a backpackers. Didnt dare eat at the restaurant however many locals did. Rooms ok for the price, no english speaking staff that I dealt with however I was lucky as my son lives there and he can speak the language.
Close to some excellent restaurants and shops.
