I stayed in the hotel with my sister for an extended stay of two weeks, at a special offer price. The best thing is the location - a short walk to the central Wangfujing Street and a 10 minute walk to Dengshikou subway station on Line 5. That said, it's tucked down a hutong (alley) so you may have some initial problems finding it and the same with taxi drivers.

I wouldn't stay there again and would recommend staying in another hotel to make your trip more comfortable. Why? 

-The hotel increased the price of our room when I checked in, despite us agreeing several weeks before to a set price.
-In a two weeks stay our sheets weren't changed once, even when we went away for a few days to visit another city.
- And because the room was damp with no windows, and it was July, it wasn't that comfortable. Sheets always had a damp feeling when you got into bed.
- The room had mosquitos which isn't unusual - it's just annoying having to buy your own repellent when other hotels will supply it for you.
- Our rubbish bins weren't emptied every day. In fact often a few days went by before they were changed, despite us putting the overflowing bins out near the door. It was always a fun guessing game - had the cleaners come to empty the bins?
-Same with the bathroom bin.
- In the beginning the maids brought one small replacement toilet roll, but it ran out at the beginning of our trip and it was never replaced, so again we bought our own.
- The towels also weren't replaced, even in a two week stay.
- Two members of staff speak VERY BASIC English, so good luck getting them if you want to ask anything.
- The hotel family seem to hang out in the lobby/foyer all the time. Which would be nice if they were friendly and said hello as you walked to your room. We just didn't find them that friendly or welcoming.
- There must have been a problem with the bathroom because after two minutes using the shower the room would be ankle-deep in water. Then it would run out of the door. It would take ages to drain away and so the bathroom was often just left flooded.
- Because we stayed for 2 weeks, we had A LOT of stuff. And the room was untidy. But that doesn't excuse the maids making a visit (wow!) and cursing in Chinese while they 'clean' your room. It's bad form to look down on your guests and criticise when they're in their room isn't it? This is the final straw that made me dislike this hotel.
- The staff weren't quiet about talking and working, even if right outside your room in the early morning.
- When we left the hotel we asked if they had the number for a taxi. They said no. Really! Unhelpful to the end! So we just took our bags ourselves and were fine.

To sum up: good location, but that's all, and you could do a lot better. If you end up staying, be brave and try the restaurants down the hutong - great, cheap food although no English spoken.
My sister wanted to check out early and go to the nearby Sun World or Crowne Plaza, and I wish we had gone somwehere else. It would have made our trip more civilised, more comfortable.

Choose somewhere else to make your Beijing trip happy

I was torn between 3 stars and 4 stars for this hotel...I'd have given it 3.5 stars if that was an option! The hotel was in a fabulous location - close to the department stores, Wangfujing Snack Street (a must experience!), the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square and the bar area of the city but the hotel itself, wasn't that great. Aside from the helpful, smiling staff, the hotel rooms were quite dirty with stains on the walls and even on some bedding. The hotel didn't seem overly safe either as the hotel rooms were in a separate section from the reception area and between the two buildings was an alley way that connected straight onto the little street...there was no security guard there to make sure stragglers didn't pop into the hotel. We stayed in a triple room as there were three of us which was a plus to this accommodation as well. The bathroom didn't have a separate shower area and the shower itself was quite old fashion and dated just as the rest of the room was. We got over everything because it was cheap, in a great location and because of the helpful staff but not sure I could recommend it as a hotel but more so as a hostel...with dirty walls! Just try not to touch too much! :P
