I would recommend this hotel if you plan to explore West Lake due to its good location. There are some bus station nearby to bring you to all directions. Taxi drivers are familiar with this place as well. This place is also near Hangzhou Botanical Garden so it will give you nature feel. You will wake up each morning by the sound of the bird chirps. The only problem is the hotel staffs don't speak English at all. So make sure you prepare yourself with some basic Mandarin for hotel stay.

The room is SO DAMN SMALL, but COMFY. Really like the blanket and pillow. I got the bunk beds and non-smoking room. The staff was really really NICE.  They can speak a little bit English and that was very helpful. However, this place is isolated, whenever I wanna use Uber they find it hard to reach this hotel.

Easy and not far to walk to West Lake although at the quieter side of the lake.  We had bunk beds, we swapped rooms because our window didn't lock only to later find someone else walk in our room as they had also been checked in there.  When this was resolved room was fine.  There isn't much room and the shower isn't amazing but fine for a night or 2.  Bit frustrating as not many of the staff spoke much English and they didn't have a map in English.  Calling cards were left along the corridor but didn't see anyone laying them down.  They had washing facilities but not drying so we ended up trying to hang up many of our clothes in the room.  Computers in the room but they are Chinese so hard to use.

Good location on the quieter side of the lake

Despite the fancy pictures on its website, Pod Inn actually offers extremely humid and small rooms with moisture all other the sailing and ... bed bugs ! And of course if the company of bed bugs were not enough, as a previous poster mentioned, you can rent the services of a prostitute (a small card is slipped under the door of your room in order to advertise for call-girls).

Quite honestly, this has been my worst night ever in a hotel. 

The bed linen and the towels seemed however quite clean, but I would never recommend this place, no matter how cheap it can be ;) (please stick with 4/5-star hôtels only in China!!!)

Unhealthy place to stay

Located on the edge of the lake and beautiful parks, it can't be blamed! This hotel is really badly maintained, even though the outside looks splendid. On the floors the carpets are unflattered and rooms (they don't seem to know the vacuum cleaner here...). The rooms are small and the walls are rooms; the painted papers are in the process of being taken off. The bathroom is equipped with a transparent window and your spouse can kindly admire you when you are in the bathroom in a slightly personal position. That said, the management is very cautious and you distribute the card door if you are missing a small company shitty! The room is all the same and the addresses are changed.

Really not terrible!

Budget accommodation, great location and good staff, but the rooms are rundown and a bit yuck. 

This place really is budget, but for the price and location you just can't beat it. It's really cheap and so close to the incredible gardens of the West Lake. You can hire bikes from the hotel, making it easy to get around and see the beautiful area. 

There's a few food options nearby, including a KFC and Starbucks and local restaurants too. You can buy fresh fruit from a small shop outside and it's pretty easy to hail a cab. 

The rooms are really dirty and stink of cigarette smoke. The towels look like they've been around since 1972 and been used by 5 million people. They're really ratty. The floors and walls are dirty. Every night a card for a local call-girl service is slipped under your door, complete with provocatively posed girl pictured on it. The bathrooms are tiny and gross. Do not touch the shower curtain. BYO air freshener.  

The staff are really nice and really helpful, they are just lovely! The hotel is really affordable and, if you're staying for 1 or 2 nights, it's definitely do-able. You will survive... just don't touch anything with your bare skin and be sure to bathe in hand sanitiser. 

Honestly, if you're on a budget, it's your best option. Just approach it with the mindset that it's a private-room in a hostel and you'll be fine.
