Very good hotel, impeccable rooms, very nice staff and very attentive. Plus, breakfast is varied and very plentiful. Plus the restaurant room and terrace on the 4th floor gives a beautiful night view of the Potala. I highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent hotel located close to the old town, not far from the Potala

Very good hotel for Tibet, the room and the bunk are quite decent, the Indian restaurant has excellent dishes, the breakfast is very good and very varied and most certainly the terrace overlooking the Potala, at dawn it is splendid.

A Beautiful View

The Dekang Hotel is well-located in Lhasa, just south of the Barcor (making it an easy walk).  The rooms are very clean with very modern and up to date bedrooms and bathrooms.  Another big plus is the rooftop restaurant which looks towards the Jokhang...nice for morning shots during breakfast.  The restaurant serves excellent Indian food for dinner and the breakfasts were also excellent.

We had only one negative; the smoke in the lobby.  This should be a no-smoking zone but it isn't and it is irritating.  Because of its location, it is near the city center and traffic noise can be an issue, especially if you leave your windows open to enjoy the fresh air like we did.

Nicest hotel we stayed at in Tibet

Warm welcome from all the small-care staff, luxurious room and bunk on top, upgraded by returning to Lhasa in succession with a view of the Potala.

Excellent price and location close to Potala and Old Lhassa on foot

Exterior view unattractive, but very modern and well-arranged rooms and restaurants, spacious rooms. Resto: terrace with superb views of Potala - to try: Tibetan pizza. Capricious elevator! Not far from the historic center.

Good plan.

I stayed in this hotel for three nights.  The room was actually great, with a good shower, very comfortable bed, very quiet, and spacious as well.  However, in the lobby of the hotel, staff were SMOKING.  It was awful.  I hate smoke and had to breathe second-hand smoke every time I entered the lobby.  They also had some incense or something else burning in a pot and the entire lobby was filled with smoke.  It was very unhealthy and unpleasant.   In addition, there was a board behind the counter in the lobby outlining exchange rates for different currencies and stating that this service was available, but they refused to change any money until I argued and argued with them.  They stated that in the past they had offered that amenity but did not any longer.  I told them that they should take down the sign that said they offered an exchange service with the different rates.  They eventually exchanged a small amount of USD for me.  With both good and bad features, I rated this hotel as average.

Hotel ok but NOT NON-SMOKING

We only had an Indian  dinner at this hotel, not very original, but quite good. The decor is beautiful, with lots of ornaments reflecting rich Tibetan culture: the hotel and its restaurant have quite a lot of character,The service is quite good and the staff speaks decent English.

Excellent restaurant recommended by our guides

I stayed in this hotel 4 times during my last year's trip to Tibet. Staff were very friendly. The rooms were big and beds were comfortable. The buffet breakfast was excellent and the hotel is located in a walking distance to Barkhor Street and Potala Palace. The strength of WIFI reception varied in different part of the hotel though. I also had a dramatic check-in for my 4th visit. The hotel was fully booked on that day and staff were a bit disorganised. The first two rooms I were given actually already occupied by guests and I had a shock to walk into the 1st room to see the TV was on with clothing spreading in the room, and walked into the 2nd room to find someone else's luggage standing on floor. I had to drag my luggage back to the reception twice from different floors. The receptionist decided to go with me for the 3rd time in case it was again not an empty room. Finally, it was an empty room but bathroom was leaking. I had to take it since no spare room left.  BTW, the balcony on top floor provides a nice angle to film Potala palace from distance.

A memorable hotel

The Dekang is on the edge of the central part of the city.  It  is about twenty minutes by foot to the palace.  If you like to walk, depending on the traffic, you can get there faster walking than using wheeled transport.    Very good value for the cost. 

Nice, small hotel

I stayed 4 nights at the DEKAN Hotel offers a good service: clean and comfortable rooms equipped with all gadgets for 4 stars(boiler -te, coffee) toothbrush, room snacks etc. Good breakfast and services in general. We were a group of 12 people and all were satisfied. We also requested to be able to have dinner the first night (though in the afternoon) good and abundant food The hotel is about 15 minutes' walk from the historic center of Barkhor. And you can (once acclimated after a couple of days) you can safely walk in the evening to see the Potala lit up a nice walk of about 25 minutes. WIFI GRATUIT in the area that also reaches the 3rd floor
