In my 40 years of travelling worldwide, first time I was forced to pay RMB 550 for the Bedsheet..
 Reason: I sprained my calf muscle during a visit to Suzhou the previous day. I purchased the popular Tiger Balm and applied. Next day, the hotel said that the stains of Tiger Balm cannot be cleaned and I have to pay RMB 550. Cannot imagine that stain of tiger balm cannot be washed away. (Picture attached)
Nobody understands English. The guide was supporting them. Only protest I could do was to take the bed sheet from them and quietly pay.(by the way, the bed sheet was cleaned in one go at washing machine at home)

Not a  friendly hotel

Stayed here for two nights recently in September 2019.  Clean and comfortable room and toilet. Breakfast was ok but should have more international varieties.  One disadvantage is that staff hardly speak English.  To explain that we were looking for warm milk or tea was a very difficult task. Otherwise no complaints.

Comfortable hotel

2 stars hotel. Not good inspiration of travel agency to have accomadation on this hotel. The hotel is max 2 star with dirty rooms,carpet burned by cigarets, bad smell .May be it was my bad luck to have this kind of rooms but including other tourist claim same problems,so it was a general condition of this hotel.Not recommend it

DIRTY HOTEL. NOT RECOMMEND IT

Good hotel, confortable rooms, quiet location.
Staff is friendly if you manage a conversation with them (very-very poor English), local stores can be found nearby, good to buy water, beer etc. Surprised to find out that tap water is not suitable for drinking in China and the hotel provides half a liter bottle / person / day free of charge.
European breakfast available, still quite poor (mainly egg-based) and the good coffee is a luxury dream. Normal (not sweet) bread and salt do not exist.
Rooms are quite large and confortable, windows can open very limited and the high level of humidity can be felt in the rooms also.

Comfortable stay in Shanghai

Spent two nights here. The basic comforts were provided for . The lights however were so dim and there was some  strange way of switching them on and off!!
Besides this point , we were comfortable, ample plug points, room had space for arranging luggage, breakfast was hearty.

We stayed here with a group and there was renovation going on so one entrance was blocked and we had to use a second entrance, the Front Lobby is small when you have a large group not enough place to seat the guests whole you check in, we had to handover our passports as per the Hotel policy. It was returned to us a day prior to our departure to Beijing.

The rooms are average sized and with the basic amenities, the bathroom also was a let down the lighting was kind of dull even the rooms seemed  dull and dreary.

Breakfast area was a huge but the spread catered only to the Oriental crowd Indians were in for a very limited options of just cornfkakes with milk, bread butter some jam and fruits, I requested the hotel if they could provide some better choices they served up some green leafy kind of soup which no one liked and we had a few pastries that was not enough to go even one round, I was informed by my Local Guide that all hotels in China dished out only the similar breakfast which did not cater to any Indian tastes, well a lot of Indians are visiting China I seen at the Shanghai Airport so the Hotel Industry should look into catering even to Indian tastes.

Luckily we had our  lunches and dinners at some Indian Restaurants that was a life saver. Breakfast was a huge disappointment and to add to it no one really could speak much English and communication was a huge barrier.

The Staff were smiling and courteous so that was one point to them. The major concern was that though we were all on non smoking floors the entire corridor smelt of stale smoke and I found the other Nationalities who were staying there were way to noisy and could be heard laughing and talking very loudly in the corridors till late in the night. Were they arguing or just talking loudly I will never know.

We checked in with Veena world group. We were given double bed for 2 adults and child.
The breakfast was not provided in the cafeteria. They gave us packed breakfast which was mainly dry bread items. Only two bags were provided. We needed to follow up a lot to get the third bag

Terrible breakfast

So so kind. Rooms are clean just like rest of China. Keep one translator ready to communicate with the staff if you aren't mandarin savvy. Breakfast is OK. Plenty of dining places nearby but none of them are that great. Have a nice stay.

Not a place you will remember for ever

I stayed here for 2 nights in July last week in 2017 for a family trip to China with Thomas Cook Holidays. Since Thomas Cook representative did all coordination job, we never had any problem.
There was some problem with the AC, which they repaired. 
Break fast was good, but they could add 1 or 2 Indian dishes whenever big Indian group visit.
