Initially our booking was from 25 May 2017 - 28 May 2017, but we only stayed for 1 night. This is why, as we are foreign guest, we do not have any local phone number. Due to the international conference that will be happening in Xiamen somewhere later this year, I was told that they tighten up all the security, specifically, cyber security. There was free wifi in the lobby but not in room. There were 2 options, we either had to verify our phone number our room number. But the room number option was 'spoiled' thus we only left with phone number option. However, I could not access despite keying in my phone number. Then I came to realize that we will not be able to access if we do not have any local number. I asked them whether we can verify with our passport (there are hotels who provide that option, such as ibis), they said nope.
 
Next, I asked them if the hotel is able to call taxi for us, but they said they do not provide such service. They told us that flagging a cab is rather easy, I mean I would not deny that, but the next problem is that the taxi rejects passengers who are bound for walking distance destination. REALLY? come on man, for sure my brother and I can walk but we have elderly with us. We had enough and wanted to meet the duty manager and it was 11+pm at that point of time. Guess what, never in my life, I would imagine a duty manager to meet guest without putting on formal wear. To make things worst, he came with shorts, T-shirt and hotel slippers. We asked if he could solve the wifi issue and taxi services but still came up empty. All I got was yes, yes, we will do it in a few days. I was furious and said we would like to check out the next day, and he agreed and at least he promised us that he would organised a transfer for us to the other hotel. 

I am going to list a couple of staff that really went to the extra mile for us. Most of them were receptionist, they are 陈艺安，刘剑瑛，王青. 

***DoubleTree Hilton and Conrad in Xiamen, please keep a look out for these names as I can assured you that they really delivered exceptional service.

Not international friendly

What I like
1. Excellent location - walking distance to Zhong San Road shopping.
2. Many local eateries around 
3. A local day spa - Kaiser spa next to the hotel. Needs additional charges. Excellent if u need to check out and hang around for 6 hrs before the fight
4. Hard bed - I love hard beds - and this really suits me.
5. Wifi - free but can't stream movies

What I din like
1. The bfast is 100% what the local eats - I like it but it finishes too fast, not replenished.
