Location is outstanding and with that there are all possibilities to have a nice experience and vacation.

Room was nice and there should be A/C or cooled air in every Room. That was something what was left to see. It wasn't so warm that it would needed. Allthough at the night it get very warm.

And the Bathroom in the Room was very nice and renovated. Only there were no fridge and the pillows weren't so good for my neck and back.. 

But all the corridors remind me some sort of rehab center. They really need something to get to this date.

And the service...

We have a package with summer theatre tickets.
After I bought it about 4 months ago, I got am email which included a voucher. When we got our calender clear, I asked how we could reserved our vacation.
With email or call, they said. So I told the date When se would want to Come and When we would want to go to the theatre.

They answered that all is ok, they have informed the theatre.

So When we go straight to the theatre, they told usbto pay to the hotel.
Everything went fine in there.
After the show we go to the hotel, and at the reception the lady asked did you went straight to the theatre, she had printed our tickets to the theatre already.

Well, nobody weren't told that we should get the tickets from hotel before the show...

Also the receptionist didn't told where our Room is, where the breakfast is served etc. We got a notice where were told all the times what is happening in the hotel. 

Then we go to eat at the restaurant and it was quite unclear where to go. 

There were a sign what told wait here to be seated. 
There was much older People and they didn't know where to go and what to do, so the lobby was crowded. 

We got a table quite soon, and wanted to go out. 
We got the menus and number sign with us to go to the table. 

After a while the waitress came to ask what we would want to order. 
We heard that the hotel uses foreign studentsat the kitchen and waitresses. She has not so good Finnish language but we made our order. 
In the menu there was only couple of things to order. 

There were daily fish and daily Meat which wasn't told anything else. We asked about the Meat and understooded that it should be pulled Bull. 

So we ordered and waited. 

There was a lack of waitresses and maybe in the kitchen because the waiting Time was quite long. 

One funny thing was heard from another table, when a Customer asked a waitress what would you recommed. She told that the Fantasy-pizza, because you could choose the toppings 😄

When we got our dishes there were mashed potatoes some carrots, lingonberries and the Meat. 
They all looked and tasted like they have been in fridge, maybe melted and frozen again. 
The food was not Hot, not enough warm. Carrots weren't peeled, but it didn't bother. 

Food was ok, not nice, not something that you would pay 27€ per dish... 

We waited in our table but with the lack of waitresses no one came to ask is everything ok or do you want dessert or More drink. 

We took our tablesign and go to cashier and told we want to pay. 

We go to the beachrestaurant and eat there a little bit More so we didn't have to go sleep with hunger. 

When we go to sleep I bought some refersments because I know I need something to drink at the morning or if I wake up at night. One 0,5l Coca-Cola or  something Else they sold was 4€!

I have never faced that kind of robbery with soda. 

Also there was a sign on the reception, where was told that you should pay when checking in. That was ok, but the checking out then could be only leave your cards in this box. 


Less than expected

Hotel is good/average, no airconditioning so it gets really hot in the lobby, restaurant and rooms. Kids 5+3yo enjoyed the stay, plenty to do for them. Beach is nice and has some beachtoys there, inside pool + sauna are nice. Rooms are average, nothing special but not bad either.

There's no airconditioning, so if it's really hot outside it's pretty close to unbearable to be in the rooms/lobby/restaurant either.

Food is absolutely garbage. If you have special diet/allergies you may want to be extra careful with what you eat, the staff doesn't seem to be on top of their job. Staff seems insufficient in numbers and in expertize/experience, management doesn't take feedback well but instead blames everyone/everything else.

If the restaurant was better i'd consider, maybe, i would give this hotel better review but when there's literally no other option to eat in proximity, you're left with this monstrosity they have the audacity to call restaurant.

0/10. Won't go back.

Food is baaaad

It's better not to be attracted by the great location, the complex of all the rooms that resemble a sanatorium and have come to an extreme age, too simple and unattractive even for Finnish conditions. The worst part is breakfast besides the room in which it is served.

Sanatorium

Breakfast is good. The rooms overlooking the sea have no balcony, so it is not suitable for smokers. The view is very great. The room has a hair dryer, no water cook. You can make a fire on the river - there is a fireplace. There is also a boat hire. You can only send postcards to Finland from the hotel (they only have domestic postage stamps). Negative: shops are very far away (about 20 minutes walk away). The view is very expensive. Souvenirs shop (20 m from the hotel, Kulta Kiulukka Bar) and exhibition in the hotel (over rocks; entrance is free). The view of the lake can be very interesting.

It's a great hotel.

We spent five nights in Kivitippu. Our room for two people was light with view towards lake Lappajärvi. Beds were comfortable and overall the room was clean. Food was basic finnish food and service was excellent. My son spent time doing sports while I was enjoying the beatiful nature. Good money-value ratio.

Spa and sports 

Great place to visit. Quite new hotel, Beautiful lake and neighbourhood. Wonderful church and churchyard. In summer it is good place to have fun in water and in winter you must go and ski on the frozen water. In summer time you can also visit Halkosaari and summer theatre.

Hotel Kivitippu and Lappajärvi

The room was nice with great views to Europe´s largest impact crater lake. The lake is mysterious. At the hotel is an exhibition of rocks and asteroids e.t.c. Breakfast and buffet were good. There could be coffee maker in the room. We enjoyed very much about summer theatre In Halkosaari near the Hotel (Great Finnish singers Kivikasvot).

Nice and clean hotel by the Unique lake Lappajärvi

Had a wonderful stay by the lake Lappajärvi. Scenery is out of this world! Rooms have been renovated and furniture all new. Only complaints we had is the pool which is from the 90's. For a hotel pool it is still ok but wouldn't call a spa. The sauna and showers were also renovated.

Excellent food in restaurant, menu is quite short but delicious! There is another restaurant about 500m away if you want to try something else.

Golf course is very close, we don't golf so can't say anything about it. You can hire canoes and SUP-boards if you are into that.
