We have stayed at this quirky hotel a few times and it fits our needs perfectly for a clean, comfortable hotel. The rooms are a bit tight but very workable. The breakfast is minimal. A few pastry selections, meat & cheese, coffee, juice etc but it’s very small and seemed disorganized. It was very warm in this area and the gentleman was trying his best to get coffee & juice to guests. Silverware & plates were not to be found - fingers worked just fine. The breakfast area needs updating and freshening. It might be more of a value to stop at the patisserie around the corner. Yum! Location is very good to St Germain & Latin Qtr. 

Hotel Design

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights, at the reception they told me I was upgraded for free, what a great pleasure right? Well what a surprise when I take the room and I see the open bath...try to take your shower in an open bath, your head touching the roof and at the same time you are cold and putting water everywhere...The room is beautiful but not functional. One suggestion, do not get this upgrade if they offer it to you...ask for the biggest room available, you will be much more comfortable. Adding to this, the room was at the top floor and the lift does not go there...so if you have heavy luggage, go in the curved stairs and experience your upgrade room!

good service and clean but small room

Hotel is small and cute. Excellent location. The rooms are small but comfortable beds. Very clean. WiFi works well. Elevator is very very very small- but 2 people with small trolley fit (just). Staff friendly and breakfast looks nice though we didn’t eat there.

Great location - good value

It is a small hotel but with a very particular decoration, very well done, I would say, as it ends up transforming the small dimensions of its facilities into picturesque. It is worth noting the kindness of its staff. Regarding its location, I consider it excellent, as it is within walking distance of the Latin Quarter, the Pantheon and the Luxembourg Gardens, with bus, metro and train connections.

Stuff is super. The location is great.
The room is small.. pillows are a bit lumpy.. Breakfast is good yet the breakfast room is too small.. its so close to many good restaurants.. metro station is close

A boutique cozy stay

This is lovely quirky boutique hotel we arrived on Christmas Eve and stayed four nights. 
The breakfast was good a nice selection of pastries crepes and cold meat and cheese. 
The reception staff are friendly as are the housekeeping.
We had an issue with the DVD player on the tv which was very disappointing as we had brought Christmas films to watch on Christmas Day we did report this and it was looked at but they said they wouldn’t be able to fix it which was a shame but wasn’t a huge big deal. 
The area around the hotel is lovely and you’re in easy walking distance of all attractions.
All in all a great stay.

Christmas in Paris 

The 'design' in the name helps explain the quirkiness of this delightful hotel in Paris.

Hidden away on a quiet street literally opposite part of the Sorbonne university the hotel is very quiet - our room looked over a lovely courtyard - but just 100 yards from busy Boulevard st Michel. A quiet area and not overrun with students, apart from in Costa coffee, with bookshops at every turn. Just a short walk from the ever impressive Jardins du Luxembourg and seemingly very French and Parisian - as opposed to an immigrant area full of turkish, indian, chinese restaurants and shops.

The hotel entrance is slightly hidden and you squeeze through the door to a small reception area. Very friendly welcome and a complimentary map and insight into local area including recommended restaurants.
Only 3 or 4 floors in the hotel and a lovely curved staircase - but if you do take the lift it is VERY small so be prepared to go up one at a time! The rooms aren't huge but ours was fine and yes, had the stripey black and yellow wallpaper meaning that we did wake up to something of a barcode!
Very comfy bed, small area for hanging clothes but we did miss tea-making facilities - we are English after all. Apple mac computer for TV and internet surfing and good free WiFi. The novelty of having a computer in the room has probably worn off now that everyone has smartphones though.

Radiator in the room gave good warmth, which was handy with the freezing temperatures and snowflakes outside.
Only downside was the tiny ensuite shower room - small, cold (no heating, not even a towel rail) and a shower cubicle that was unable to retain water so floor seemed to flood at every showering.

We didn't have breakfast at the hotel as seemed a bit pricey and instead tried local cafes for this.
Hotel also very helpful in swift ordering of taxi back to the airport.
Would certainly consider a return visit.

Quirky times

I'll start by mentioning an excellent staff, of 10: attentive and professional. They have made us feel at home at all times. The hotel has an unbeatable location: almost everything and at the same time in a quiet area with restaurants and cafes. The facilities are one-of-a-kind, not lacking in detail, stylish and at the same time comfortable. Together, a 10. We would not hesitate to recommend it with the absolute certainty that we would make more guests happy!!! A great small hotel of the highest quality!! Congratulations to the team that manages it. The hotel manager a real charm and service like few have ever seen!!!

Inmejorable!!!!! What a great hotel:)

We were in Paris for three days and had a small, sweet room where the sentence was small but very fine. It was not possible to stand in the bathroom with two, which wasn't bad. Especially great is the location of the hotel. The nearest metro station is about 500 meters away. Also, there are already many sights to be reached on foot. A really nice neighborhood. The staff were extremely friendly and could answer all our questions. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Everything in a very nice, small hotel. I would book it anytime.

3-day stay in Paris

We left booking the room until the day of arrival via Euro-star, and there was limited choice by then, one of which was the Design Sorbonne, they had the small basic room on show via Booking.com, when we got there they also had another deluxe room for more Euro's of course. After inspecting the two rooms on offer, we felt the extra price asked for the larger room was not worth paying as it barely much bigger and they wanted 40-50 Euros for the 2 nights we were staying there. So we went for the smaller room, 5th floor room 51. Adequate room....just, you could get around the bed, but that was it, The shower room was tiny, when sitting on the loo, my shoulder was up against the sink and the shower was so small I could hardly squeeze into it. But it worked and we survived! The TV was also the computer, so you had internet access if you wanted it. The WiFi code everyday at noon, and to be fair was poor, the signal kept dropping out due to being overloaded i think. service was slow and I could not use my Ipad at times so I hot spotted off my phone and it was quicker. 
The TV had lots of Euro channels with 1 English channel.... CNN. so after 1/2 hour I was bored to death of the same rotating news. This was poor service after just being in the states recently where even the cheapest Motel had 100+ satellite stations and even the BBC. So this irritated me more than the small room. Being so small, there was no fridge, so drinks were out on the window sill to keep cool. 1 free small bottle of water for the 2 days. 
Breakfast was extra but discounted if we paid up front, and to be fair it was OK, hot pancakes pre-made by the kitchen server or cook your own eggs on a griddle. nice croissants and bread and some slices of salami and ham, plus cereals. 
The lift in the hotel was the size of two people, and noisy too, so if you had a room by the lift, I would not be happy. 
There were only 1 spare sockets each side for chargers by the bedside, nothing else in the room, 
Location was great, in the Sorbonne area and the Left side of the Seine, there were lots of cafes and restaurants nearby to eat at. Very close to Luxembourg Gardens and Metro train station (Blue Line B) which runs from Charles DE Gaulle airport thru Gare De Nord and on to the south of Paris, as it has less stops it moves across town quicker too. 
One night we went out locally to a Southern specialty restaurant and had a fantastic meal La Petite Périgourdine on 39 Rue des Écoles, 75005 Paris, France.
There are better rooms to stay in at the hotel, and depending on when you book the rate will be better, we paid 371 euros for 2 nights so it was not cheap but about normal for Paris. For the best deal call the hotel direct as they will do deals. 
Will we stay there again..... maybe, but they have to do better with the TV stations and provide fridges and a kettle/cups for tea making. Personally I think I can do better than this place and get bigger rooms for a better price elsewhere, not sure my wife is convinced though!
The bed was hard and uncomfortable, both me and the wife suffered and kept turning to ease back pain.
