After a few hours' drive south, we found this hotel in Down. Although there is no reception, the bar asks for the rooms, and we had to wait a little while until the waitress had time for us, but that wasn't bad. The staff was friendly and asked if everything was okay. The room was very clean, the bathroom was small, but also clean, the beds were modern and very comfortable. We slept very well. The breakfast the next morning leaves hardly any wishes open. Good coffee, the cereal buns delicious, there was fresh fruit, yogurt, slices, even a stir-fry you could have had. Good choice and good quality.

Good value for money

The hotel has had its best years. The reception is located in the bar on the ground floor. Disappointing reception by a staff member. Rooms ok. Small bathroom with an outdated bathtub. Föhn was defective. Sleep was not to be thought of, as the bar's terrace was grilled until 2:00 a.m., we were singing arguments. Breakfast in buffet form was ok and varied. Free parking at home.

A restless night in the Downs

The smoke alarm is beeping all night. Bathroom + bedroom clean and convenient. A lot of car noise, construction noise from 7:30 a.m. Breakfast okay. Maarysol breakfast room very dirty, potatoes still under the table. Staff friendly. We had booked the hotel as part of a hiking tour - it wasn't a relaxing entrance...

Okay, but it's improving.

I haven't slept so well in a long time, the rooms aren't new, but very clean, the staff are very trying, Corona correct and still binding, thank you for the delicious breakfast and the extra milk for my son!

Very nice clean hotel

The hotel is not particularly attractive from the outside. The rooms are a bit unpleasant and simple set up. The beds are quite small. The bathroom is also very small. Our room was on the street and therefore quite noisy. Basically for one night okay. The price compared to other hotels of hiking without luggage arrangements is too high.

Medium size hotel

From the outside, the hotel is an ugly concrete box from the seventies, since then, obviously, nothing has been done on the outside façade. There is no proper hotel reception, which is located in the restaurant on the ground floor. The hotel entrance area looks gamely. In the rooms, some things have been done, but not thoroughly renovated. Cables have simply been covered on the wallpaper, cable cans are only necessarily covered, so that little children could get into the power distribution with their finger. The bathroom was newly tiled and equipped with an even shower, which leads to a very high flood in the bathroom at every showering, as in the absence of the shower rooms the doors were relatively lighted. Central location

The Hotel Stadt Daun is located in the heart of the town. The visitor is expected to enjoy a charming journey through time into the seventies. However, everything is very clean, the towels are changed daily. Friendly staff and a very generous breakfast buffet. Only the demand for 1 euro for the already available 0.5 litre bottle of mineral is cheesy.

City of Down

The pluses are its well priced the staff are very good and the food is great.  
Negatives its noisy at night if you are staying anywhere new the Bar you can hear the music coming from it upstairs into your room.  Also if you stay at the front of the hotel the smokers patio is below your window and you will get the whiff of cigarette smoke coming into your bedroom (i was on the second floor and it was quite strong).   But on a budget its a good place clean room and functional - all you need really.

Mixed review like many others but overall good

The hotel doesn't have a real front desk, the restaurant staff gave us the key. The room was small and the bathroom was outdated. We wondered where the third star of the hotel came from. The breakfast buffet was very good, unfortunately in the restaurant, which smelled like cold cigarette smoke.

A private hotel

It's a small but very cozy hotel, conveniently located right in the center with plenty of restaurants and cafes with national cuisine and delicious beer.
