First of all, the location of the hotel is not in the safest area. Though the police regulates the streets at all times, I did not feel too safe. That happened anyways to be the least of our problems with the (short) stay, as we - after we shut the lights to sleep - heard strange noises and discovered mice in our room. We had to leave and find another hotel. In addition to the smell of strong smoke and poor service, I would definitely not recommend this hotel. 

Mice in hotel room

We were looking for a hotel near Hamburg Hauptbahnhof and we found this hotel more economic than the other ones. Actually, if you will use the hotel only for sleep and you are a deep sleeper, this hotel is worth to stay. 

The hotel employees were smooth-faced and helpfull. We asked for an extra pillow and they give us more pillows.

But even we were one step up to the reception, the internet connection was horrible... Even if in corridors, the wifi signal was weak.

Also, the security is not so good as the position of the hotel.There were some clubs which have big fights in front of them.

Good position with bad hotel conditions

I had a card for Elphi (I waited indefinitely) and wanted to spend 3 nice days in Hamburg...and landed at the Hotel Nord!!! Although the name allereinste Unterkunft is almost an exaggeration. The furniture in the room corresponds to a ranzy barrel quality (furniture is fine, the flushed sink area is a single disaster). The living room must have been a double room earlier      , which was then for profit reasons (the small room is once divided by the wall), the gardains were dirty, so I thought that the bed was locked and not locked (the doors were locked, the doors were locked???), but the back of the room was shorter than the back of the room, but the back of the room was shorter than the back of the room, so as a result of the closing up of the bathroom, I had to go to the front of the house every morning to get a full day's worth of beds worth, so obviously... I had to say that, at the end of the night, I could not

I moved out early on my own...

A bad hotel, with a bad image, with a bad, small, dusty room, with zero taste and sensitivity in every detail, and the community bathroom, we don't even talk about, couldn't be smaller.

There is no reason to go back.

The dirtiest place I've ever stayed. There seems to be no cleaners here. I didn't dare to look in the community shower.

It's disgusting.

It is absolutely incomprehensible to me how an establishment in Germany in such a state has attained the status of a 3 star hotel. When we were staying, the facilities in the rooms were old-fashioned, which would be perfectly acceptable for the price if it did not smell terriblely penetrant to cigarette smoke. The stench has penetrated into all the curtains, mattresses, wallpaper, carpets and furniture, and even after hours of ventilation.

More entitled than any cheap hostel

We stayed here for two nights (Friday and Saturday). The hotel is nothing special but it's also not as awful (in my opinion) as the other reviews might suggest. I'd break down my experience as follows:

Positives:

1. Excellent location really nearby to the Hauptbahnhof (so great when coming from and going to the airport);

2. There's actually a lovely pub at the end of the road on the corner, heading in the direction of the Hauptbahnhof, which stays open til quite late and has a nice, friendly atmosphere. Tasty draught lager;

3. We had an ensuite shower and toilet, both of which were very clean. Decoration nothing special, but it was definitely clean; 

4. Bedroom also really clean, as were the beds and the bed sheets, and nicely ironed. We got 2 towels each, nice and clean;

5. Nice thick curtains which blocked out the light; 

6. There's shampoo/body wash available in the shower; and

7. Quiet at night - no disturbances. 

Negatives:

1. Don't expect good customer care;

2. Our room did have a musky smell, a bit like maybe someone had smoked there before, but can't be sure;

3. It's not 'pretty' - it's just a bog standard hotel with rooms. That's it;

4. The 'double bed' is actually two twin beds pushed together, so there is the separation between the two mattresses;

5. Be careful when booking as on the hostel.com website, as we thought we had booked two doubles for four people, but we had actually only booked one bed for two people. When we called the hotel in advance to sort this out, they weren't very helpful and *said* it was sorted, but when we arrived it hadn't been! Luckily they had another room free; and

6. You can leave your bags there after checking out (some hotels have lockers). However, just down the road at the Hauptbahnhof there are loads of lockers where you can leave your bags for 24 hours. A big locker costs €4 and a small locker costs €6. As an example of size, we fitted in the small locker a large bag, one rucksack and a small suitcase (like easyJet hand-luggage size). 

So overall, if you're just looking for a well-located room where you will be spending very little time, this hotel is fine, but certainly no frills! 

 No frills but OK

As long as you have only one goal in mind: sleep, you can do it. But for more? The single room looks like it was renovated several years ago - very spartan, bed is okay and clean, just an old sink in the room, on the side of the street, and therefore very loud and bright. You should have a solid sleep.

Unclaimed

It was supposed to be something very simple and affordable because we wanted to stay in HH for only one night. I thought 80 euros was perfectly fine for the location (5 minutes to Hbf). Reception: You can't just go in, but you have to ring and wait. The gentleman at the reception was hard to understand. When I asked him how I could pay, he replied annoyed that credit card payments still had to pay an extra 3.5%. Then another 30 euros in cash as a deposit for the room key and the TV remote. House: Walk-in. Muffig. Runtergeared. Room: Simple, but that was okay too. However, it was dirty and slightly smelled of mold. For one night portable. Toilet: On the toilet. Reversally. Everything in one day.

Inadequate

As a whole this was quite an experience, that I am not going to repeat, ever again! The hotel demanded a cash deposit of 30 euros for the room keys. The room smelled like a storage for dirty clothes. WLAN did not work in my room, the signal was too weak. TV was installed on the wall in the height of about 2 m from the floor. So, it nice to watch it standing up. Shower and WC were shared. The lights were broken at the shower, so I had to be showering in the dark. The hotel staff refused to answer my questions about how to find some Hamburg addresses and how to find the public transport going there. The German man working at the check in desk had no manners and he had no idea how be friendly nor polite! So, I got to be bullied and insulted while I was leaving the hotel. This is the hotel where the customer is not right! On top of this I was harassed by prostitutes each evening when I was returning back to the hotel. So, avoid this hotel like the plague!
