We were at the hotel at the chapel on a weekend. The reception was very friendly and the rooms were decorated to the satisfaction of this price class. Unfortunately, the rooms are all quite small (the bathrooms too). There is very little WiFi. The hotel has a pizzeria on the ground floor, which also has an outdoor area, so that you can only think about it after 11:30 p.m. when the windows are open. The breakfast was simple and was served in a cold cellar. Some sausages were a few days old and therefore no longer enjoyable.

In the middle of the city, but very noisy.

We got married in Meiningen six years ago, and we were back here on our wedding day. We were in a mini-room in the back of the house. Okay, we happened to have a wedding party in the hotel's vault. We were personally taken care of by the hotel manager and were very impressed with the family atmosphere and the little attention. Unfortunately, there wasn't much left. We actually asked to get our wedding room back. Instead, we were in a mini-room in the back of the house. Okay, we happened to find out that there was also a bride and groom in the hotel, but the hotel employee was very impressed with the family atmosphere and the little attention. Disappointed

The location of the hotels is very central, in close proximity to the cathedral, the pedestrian zone, the castle, etc., but still quiet because of little traffic. A lovingly restored old house. However, quite small rooms, kitchen smell in the aisles and staircase. At breakfast, the most necessary was there, but also no more. No chicken, bacon, mirror sausage, sausage, etc., fruit. The owner makes a lot of effort for the guests.

Due to the very good location for one night (staff visit) but not for longer stay

Great location in the middle of the picturesque old town. Rooms clean - except for an apparently dead big spider on the ceiling... old building, no elevator, narrow stairs. Kindergarten or wheelchair? Forget it. Bed cozy, but very soft. Not for everyone. No minibar, so no option to cool things. There was water in a carafe. Actually a nice idea, where a glass carafe looks more valuable than a plastic one.

♪ For one night, all right ♪

There's a hotel owner at work with body and soul. You can see and feel it. The hotel is quiet, right on the Werra and 8 minutes' walk to the market square. My room was very large and had a very good bed. It was equipped with a minibar, TV but also nice little things like umbrella and shoe spoon. There were plenty of canisters, which unfortunately is not always the case today. Even the fountain was strong..... etc. The offer for breakfast was more like 4 stars plus level. I'm excited and can recommend the hotel.

Highly recommended

It was a nice stay, the location of this hotel is great, and the building is fabulous. But consider that the rooms are small (at least mine was), and the hotel itself is not very spacious. I was there in the summer, so the breakfast room was packed. There was enough space to sit, of course, but it's in the cellar, so the ceiling is low and when the room is full you can't help to feel a little bit uneasy. But it's not a big deal, I mean, it's a nice hotel and my room was cleaned every day so no complaints at all :)

Nice enough

Very pleasant hotel in the city centre. It is close to the main square of the city. The rooms are clean and cozy, breakfast is full) near the hotel is the main street with lots of shops. If you walk a little further, you will find a beautiful theater.

A cozy hotel

Small hotel on a square with fountain in the centre of Meiningen.  On the gound floor there is a restaurant which is part of the hotel.  The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner.  The breakfast room is on a lower level.  Breakfast was adequate but nothing special.  Our room was very small but reasonably well equipped.  The towels were rather old and scratchy.  Staff were friendly and helpful.

There are a lot of shops in the immediate vicinity and there is a supermarket next door.  There is no off-street parking so you have to make sure you don't overstay the limit when parking on the street.

The standard of this hotel was a little below what we would have expected for the price.


Centrally located hotel

A small hotel set in a small town that, although well off the beaten track (prior to the reunification of Germany, it found itself just inside the East on the road to nowhere), is both attractive and proud of its musical and theatre traditions.

On first arriving, enter the hotel through the restaurant on its ground floor.   The room key that you will be given doubles as a key to the side door to the hotel proper.   The hotel is arranged over the first, second and third floors of the building (in American parlance, the second, third and fourth floors).   There being no lift (elevator), be sure to ask for a first floor room if you have mobility problems.

If arriving in Meiningen by rail, walk across the Englischer Garten (directly opposite the station), taking the diagonal path leading leftwards.   This will bring you to Georgstrasse.   Walk down Georgstrasse and across the Markt and into Anton Ulrich Strasse, passing the town church on your left.   The hotel is about 150 metres beyond the church.
