If you like the idea of being in a special place, in the cool of the mountains and away from the rough and sunny beaches, the Elafos hotel is the right place. Opened in 1929 it still has all the charm of the time to the point of waiting for the appearance of Agatha Crishie for breakfast.

Housing in History

We loved this place because it is unique, romantic, special. We stayed at the bar in the past few years and we had unique, unforgettable winter moments. But it was different management. It was a lively place, full of people, young, dynamic, professional staff, eager to get into the game, which would have helped make the place special since we were all from the neighborhood. We came over here in the spring, a week before the Orthodox Easter, we wanted something at the bar, but even though there were no unique, unforgettable winter moments in the service. We waited more than we should and then we went away disappointed.

The Elafos hotel is not destroyed by the logs but by the way they manage it.

We stayed in room 111 which has a balcony you could play sports on, the staff are great and for a 3 star hotel it is fantastic. The evening menu is limited but the hotel are happy to direct you to local restaurants. The bathrooms are better than most 4 & 5 star I have stayed in.

A Mountain Paradise.

If you love old, Alpine ski hotels, you'll love this place! The place has an interesting history and is well preserved. The views are obviously gorgeous and there are interesting places to visit just up the hill or down the road. Coffee and desserts are wonderful, too.

Alpine ski hotel in the mountains of Rodos

The hotel is located in the middle of the profitis ilias forest, but from the looks and the surroundings it could also be in the Alps. Unfortunately we did not stay here, but we only stayed here for coffee and cake. The building makes a very neat impression from the inside and outside. The bar area seems to be from a long time ago and is very well designed. The staff were very friendly and the chicken is extremely tasty. The prices are located in the upper sector. This will not stop us from coming back, but it will not stop us.

Hotel in Alpine style

It's a very beautiful building from 1929 preserved in its time, a real joy to have a coffee on its terrace, nature all around like a hidden gem, to visit or stay for its peace and beauty of the landscape.

Super nice hotel in the mountains

We thought we were staying in this hotel for one night. When we looked on the internet the price was 66 euros. But it was too late to book because it was the same day. We went straight to the hotel. The reception was disgusting, the price was different and much more expensive. We had to go back and continue our search. This is the first time this experience has happened to us in Greece! If you want a reception then look elsewhere!

Disgusting hospitality

My stay in Hotel Elafos and Elafina was not exactly as I imagined it. During my three day stay my room was not cleaned once, despite repeated requests. 

Also, I was scolded by the manager after I reported that the toilet had become clogged. He said I shouldn't have thrown toilet paper into the toilet. How I could have known this, was not clear, because this was not indicated anywhere. The manager even threatened me with a bill for unclogging the toilet, if he wouldn’t be able  to do this himself. I've stayed in hundreds of hotels in Greece over the years, but I've never experienced anything like it. 

The hotel looks very nice from the outside and is situated in a splendid environment, but would benefit from some modernisation and a major refurbishment. 

To the most easily ac¬¬¬cessible rooms, one has to negotiate  a steep staircase with more than thirty  steps. The iron bedsteads have probably never been serviced since their installation in 1929. It all looks very tatty. The hotel appears to belong to a nearby village and it is unfortunately clear that the people who work there are untrained villagers, who had probably never seen the inside of a hotel before they arrived  there. 

All in all, a stay at this hotel cannot be recommended.

A   DISAPPOINTING STAY IN A DIRTY PLACE

But the quality of the living room wants the best, there is no cleaning in the rooms, there is no change of bedding, towels, and the dust collector at all I don't say) once a week of living brought a towel. Breakfast must be arranged by yourself, despite the fact that it is included in the price of the room (the usual breakfast is coffee and croissants) after talking with the only employee, arranged an omelette and bought products to make a casserole and then couldn't, poured raw milk on the sausage and please)))) Because of the small number of people living in the hotel it always closes when leaving and then it has to this employee)

The mountain hotel Elafos

Located on mount Profitis Elias, next to the Byzantine monastery.
It was built under Italian regime in 1929 and named after a certain species of deer (dama dama) that lives in the woods nearby.
It is not something you would expect in Rhodes.
We didn't stay here but the building was so unexpected we wanted to mention it.
