This place has a lot more potential in it - we enjoyed our stay in this cozy little hotel but there’s a few things that should be improved. 

Overall it’s a nice and quiet hotel and the owner is helpful and kind. 
Rooms are okay, nothing to complain about considering the price with only one exception: the mattresses were killing us, worst ever sleeping experience in any hotel :-(
There was a daily cleaning service and towels were also changed every day, we were really happy with that. 
Breakfast was included, it was acceptable for the price of service, maybe a bit more variability would be better. To compensate that the atmosphere of the garden where you have your meal is lovely :-)
There’s a nice pool area in the garden but unfortunately we couldn’t use it at all as the water filter wasn’t turned on for a single minute - the water was foggy and opalescent 

Despite the above it was no regret to choose this hotel as it’s affordable, the surrounding area is quiet and beautiful but it’s close to the main road at the same time.

Not too bad for its price…

Despite all the love of Greek hospitality and warmth, we should be realistic in evaluating this small guesthouse! The host has been very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are very simple, very small, very cold and clingy (in April) and the very hard beds are only with a flat pillow and as a blanket with a thin sheet and a thin blanket (in the double bed 1 large sheet and 1 blanket for 2). We froze at night despite the long sleeping time. In addition, a closet without waste bags and a single small bathroom with quite old closets. Water must be kept running for a long time, but families will be served hot. But some basic conditions (for the next meal, please note) are very convenient for families to eat in a bathroom. But if you want to stay in a small room, you can always get a small bag of butter and butter, but if you want to stay in a small room with a small bag of butter and butter, but if you don't want to stay in a small room, you can always get a little more.

It's more like a backpacker.

The Varelis family runs a small hotel in Aechangelos, Rhodes. I have been there many times and have always felt very comfortable in the simple but very clean hotel. The family and friendly atmosphere make you feel always welcome there. The hotel is also very well suited for families.

Perfect for a vacation in Archangelos.

They were here last week. The house is in a quiet side street. The rooms are simple but clean. The breakfast was good for Greek conditions. The owner is more reserved but okay. The air conditioning for 5€ a day was very quiet. The bed unfortunately is very hard.

As described - OK

This was a last minute booking and so I was ready to accept what I booked. I had a lot of difficulty with Opodo (booking agent) cancelling my confirmed flights, so a lost day of holiday. I was going to make the best of the five days left and not complain.  

This hotel was not self catering as had been confirmed to me by Opodo and so for little difference in money I could have had a  better choice of any hotel in Rhodes for our family of five who now would have to eat out everyday. (Each meal was coming to over 120 Euros a time). The air conditioning listed was actually chargeble at 5 Euros per room per day. There was not 24 hour front desk service, in fact it was usually deserted so there was none of the usual tourist help. There was no approachability and we felt apologetic when we had to seek out Mr Varelis and report one room with a leaking toilet or when asking for the air conditioning control.  In fact the atmosphere was miserable. At least the rooms were clean. On about day three all the towels in one of our rooms were taken away and not replaced, we had each brought our own towels from home so it did not matter. I put most things down to the booking agent misrepresenting the holiday and we enjoyed making our own holiday. 

My teenagers' first day's excitement in the pool was a great disappointment with dead bugs and being unable to see their own hands in the murky water and being unable to find their water toys at the bottom of the pool.  So each day we chose to drive out to beaches.  With this hotel I do recommend hiring a car because of the distance the hotel is from the amenities in the heat and there being little else to do. (Our car hire was £350).  We loved The Water Park and Kallithea Springs.    

When we were leaving to catch the shops before closing Mr Varelis stopped us from behind front desk concerned about getting payment from the only booking information Opodo  had sent. So to avoid him worrying and waste no more of our holiday time I offered to pay and reclaim on VISA but he only accepts cash payments and as I had already paid I left him with proof of my phone numbers and address in case of problem as I told him I would be checking out early next morning because we were going horse riding for 7am.

On my return home I was shocked to find a message on my home answerphone from Mr Varelis, 
"You have taken with you four towels. Why? I feel very sorry. I will ask the travel agent to pay for four towels."   

I am livid. I never took four towels,  We travelled with hand luggage only and being mum mine was full with five sets of snorkels, masks and swim shoes so four secondhand towels are the last thing I'd want to carry in my bag!   I spent almost £4000 in total chasing five days of holiday.   Mr Varelis should not have left such a message without questioning himself. Where is his Greek wisdom? Quite simply he did not replenish the towels in the room and I am so shocked to be  accused. It borders on crazy. Do not spoil an otherwise happy holiday memory when there are far happier, better value for money places to stay on this excellent island.

Shockingly accused of stealing four towels!

We booked 14 days at the Varelis Pension for spring April Mail 2018 to rest and explore the island by car. We are still guests here. If you have the same plan, you are right here. A few minutes by foot and car to the center of Archangelos and directly on the central road Rodou/Lindos. A quiet hotel to rest if you are not on the axis. The host is immediately helpful and very kind. Breakfast is sufficient and satisfying. At my wife's special request there was also bread without yeast. What we have not got in any other hotel/pension.

Idyllic quiet guesthouse

We've been to Varelis several times now, and certainly not the last time! The rooms are simple, but are very clean every day (except Sundays). The host Manolis is very friendly and unobtrusive. But if you have questions, he is very competent and willing to give information. The breakfast is of course not comparable to a ***** hotel, but completely sufficient. If someone like An W. complains about the crowd, then he/she is to blame. Just ask the host, and you get a surcharge. Who can give up luxury, what Rhodes is interested in, is in the right place in Archangelos in Varelisnette!

The price-performance ratio is flat!

We were at the Hotel Varelis for the first time. Since we have been friends with a Greek family in Archangelos for years and we spend two times a year on Rhodes, we came to this delightful hotel by good chance. Yes, the rooms are convenient and simple! Why do I need a bedside table when I am on the axis all day long? The rooms are always clean and I don't need more than a bed, shower and balcony. Then breakfast: coffee, bread, cheese, sausage, jam and alternating with eggs or peaches or... is enough. There are always plenty of accommodations! Even greeted wishes are fulfilled after family meals, I just have to love and ask! I can't feel any more than a bed, shower and balcony! Then I'll be able to enjoy the best of all the delicious and delicious things I've ever tasted!

Relaxing

For at least six years I have been a regular guest at the Hotel Varelis. For the sensationally affordable price, I get a simple room with shower and balcony. Breakfast is always enough for dinner, especially since the friendly host Manolis likes to serve bread or coffee. Here he is certainly being wronged if you complain about the lack of wealth. I find Annette's comment shameless. The host is an educated, inquisitive man who likes to provide his guests with information about sights, traditions, as well as much about the biology and geology of the region. But my tip for people who want to know Rhodes is not a luxury and they need to spend their holidays by eating in a different way.

We spent 10 days in Varelis, breakfast is unbearable, there's bread, three slices of cheese or sausage, two packed marmalades, a slice of marmalade, if there's two pieces of cake, there's no apricot in the can.
