We've just returned from Golden Sunset and already want to go back.. 

Coming from the UK, we flew via TUI airways as a family of 4, choosing to book accommodation & transfers separately as this offers more choice and can be a cheaper option. 

We've been coming to Thassos for 20 years, and in that time have stayed in a number of places and hotels, but have more recently chosen Skala Rachoni as it's more quiet and laid back. 

Golden Sunset has the most incredible positioning set back just from a quieter section of the beach with brilliant sunsets. The hotel itself is lovely and homely and is spotlessly clean. 

We stayed in the top floor suite, with our older teenage daugthers in a smaller mountain view double room. 

Our suite was large and offered a simple kitchenette so we could make our own breakfasts etc. The air con wasn't too noisy for sleeping, while the bed was large & very comfortable (the matress seemed brand new) 

Tammy the owner was AMAZING!!! nothing was too much trouble, while Ellie the cleaner ensured our rooms were spotless everyday by making the beds, taking out the rubbish and cleaning the floors. 

We Loved it.. and will defo book again for 2024!

It was our first time in Thassos and although we were a little worried about the location,  everything turned out to be ok: clean rooms,clean pool, good food. Our hosts were very nice and friendly people!

Very nice holiday, excellent location!

We were lucky enough to stay for 9 nights at the Golden Sunset hotel in Skala Rachoni. The hotel has one of the most perfect positions you could imagine with a lovely small garden right on the waters edge. We had breakfast every morning to the sound of gently lapping waves. As we stayed towards the end of the season we had the very clean pool to ourselves. Skala Rachoni is a great village for couples who want to be away from the bustle of big resorts. There are about 10 really nice well priced tavernas within walking distance that all had a lovely vibe. Regular buses travel around the island to other areas. Great thanks to our hosts, Ellie, Andreas and Ellie who made our stay very special. I would highly recommend this friendly hotel.

Fabulous holiday on Thassos

We were in Kavala at 8.30am. Taxi to the ferry is 20 euros. Taxi to the ferry is 4 euros per person. Ferry to the airport is 4 euros per person. Without a car. Ferry to the airport is as soon as we arrived. Everything is clear, fast, without reservations. Swimming is 45 minutes. Very nice. Everyone is feeding tea. Flight to the hotel's staff is at 5.20am. Flight to the hotel is 20 minutes. Flight to the hotel is 20 minutes. Flight to the ferry is 20 minutes. Flight to the ferry is 20 minutes. Flight to the ferry is 20 minutes. A magical vacation in Tasso

The hotel is nice, has a good location near to beach, rooms are cleaned every day. The pool is also clean and Andreas has good skills for cocktails.
The hotel,s stuff is very friendly and helpful.

A place to remember

Small hotel in Thassos. Small and not very comfortable rooms but excellent views.
Very small swimming pool and beach not proper for swimm.
You need to drive away every day to find a  ice beach. Also not many options for outing around the hotel.

Below expectations

What a fabulous 2 week holiday we had staying at the Golden Sunset hotel, Skala Rachoni on the Island of Thasos.  We were looking for a family holiday away from the crowds and somewhere we could re-connect as a family, after my son being away at university.  With a 19 and 12 year old, my husband and I decided, that we weren't looking for a hotel to provide entertainment or kids clubs, we wanted to do things as a family. 
After looking at many hotels the Golden Sunset ticked all the boxes. Small with only 12 rooms, on the beach and with a pool.  We choose 2 rooms one double with sea view and a mountain view studio for the kids, which comprised of 2 double beds and a small kitchenette, which was fine for preparing breakfast and light lunches.  There are some lovely taverna's for either lunch or dinner, our favourite being Gekas.  The hotel also offered breakfast and light snacks, but if you're looking for an English Breakfast or Fast food you won't find that at Skala Richoni.  What you will find is freshly cooked fish dishes and local delights, the wine was also very good.
The Golden Sunset Hotel is set in an idyllic location, within easy walk of the Taverna's along the beach front.  We sat on our balcony most nights with a glass of wine watching the glorious sunsets over the sea.  The hotel is spotlessly clean and Ellie, Andras and Tammy, did everything to makes us feel welcome and were very informative, with nothing being too much trouble.  If you're looking for a place to unwind, relax, reflect I would not hesitate in recommending the Golden Sunset Hotel.
To do tips, while you're there, visit Arriba Bar, chilled out and also perfect at sunset, watch out for the chocolate Tequila! Hire a car, drive into the mountain villages and visit the other glorious beaches.  Highlight of the holiday, a 7 hour cruise around the island, stopping at glorious bays and swimming in the warm, crystal clear Aegean sea. Our Captain Panos was informative and cooked the best seafood lunch, we booked this through Thasos sailing.  The hotel was booked direct with Tammy, paying a deposit by bank Transfer and the balance on arrival.  All worked well and Tammy got back to me really quickly, with any questions I had.   Will I return? Yes definitely.
