A nice, cosy place in the heart of Kyoto traditional district, where you can experience local life and walk to a lot of nearby tourist attractions. This Ryokan is very aithentic and comfortable at the same time. The attention and service is excellent so definietly a great place to stay !!!

Great traditional japanese hostpitality experience !

From the cutest and most beautifully maintained 120 year-old ryokan to the amazingly hospitable owners, this is simply the best. Great location a stone's throw away from everything. We loved our time at Gion Morisyo.

Authentic perfection

This is a beautiful traditional Japanese Ryokan run by the loveliest family. We really enjoyed the experience of staying here & would highly recommend it. The room was a good size & futons were comfy. There is a curfew of 11pm & probably not the best choice for those wanting to party late or who are loud (the walls are paper thin). 

Wonderful!

A lovely small house with comfortable rooms in a great location.  The couple who run it are warm and very helpful.  My husband had hurt his back so they quickly switched us to a room downstairs which, though colder, was perfect.  The bathroom was modern and they ran a wonderful hot bath for us in the evenings.  She booked dinner and even walked us to the restaurant nearby.  Very highly recommended.

A gem in the heart of Gion

The inn was incredibly cozy and our hosts were so welcoming and helpful! 
We were travelling as a family of 4, two per room, which were large and intimate. With spacious rooms, tons of storage space, half-bath, and two full bathrooms, we were set for 3 nights! 

The location is perfect if you want tor really get to know Gion. Although very close to popular sites and shops, the inn was on a very quiet and residential street! You could really get to understand what the neighbourhood is like as a local! Only 1 block away is a large street with markets, grocers, speciality shops, confectionaries, bus routes, etc. 

Beautiful paper screens, woven bamboo tatami mats, two zen gardens, and a homemade Japanese breakfast were only a few things that made this ryokan the most incredbile way to introduce ourselves to Kyoto. 

Our hosts were so helpful, very kind, and spoke English quite well! They recommended some beautiful restaurats, which they personally escorted us to, helped us make the reservations, and were very mindful and considerate of all of our eating limitations (vegan, vegetarian, lactose free, gluten free)! 

We highly recommend this beautiful inn to anyone travelling to Kyoto.

Wonderfully Relaxing

Unforgettable for staying in a real Japanese house, with fouton, walls of rice paper, cork and wood grates, sliding panels for light modulation; unforgettable for the kindness of the owners, for the typical breakfast and for the precision in every detail.

A memorable stay

El ryokan Gion Morisyo was a wonderful experience, a unique experience on our trip to Japan, staying with this family that made us feel at home. El ryokan is wonderful, with all the amenities and a lovely Japanese garden. The breakfast is delicious and served with all the love. Recommended one hundred percent.

An authentic experience in Kyoto.

Excellent Ryokan the hotels are lovely the location is perfectly quiet neighborhood but bus station nearby many restaurants the room is traditional and spacious: part night and part living room breakfast is delicious either Japanese or Western stay perfect!

It's a great Ryokan.

I had the pleasure of staying three nights in this beautiful ryokan. The place is beautiful, the large room, with tatami, divided into two parts (night area with tatami and living area with low table) plus a small veranda. The landlords are very kind and easily comfortable. The location is perfect: the downtown neighborhood, very central, but at the same time in a quiet street, so there is no problem with confusion. Absolutely to try.
