Thanks for a great stay, such a nice and interesting building and welcoming atmosphere. The location is the best, its some distance away from crowdy tourist spots and so close to the river from which you can bike to other areas in the city. I stayed a few feeks in April to May 2018, Tonbo is highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere!

A place one meter from the railroad tracks. The noise shakes the walls. A women's bathroom and an independent bathroom and a men's bathroom in the bathroom.

Not the top guy.

Although it is a little old, the guesthouse is very well kept and clean. We had a private room with two separate beds and it was quite good. Very nice staff, and the location is great. They can rent bicycles for a very cheap price, wich is really useful since the guesthouse is very well located so you can visit most of the city like this. A good guesthouse with nice common place for a cheap price, that I would recommend for travelers with little budget !

Great stay, great location 

Tres etroit et tres vieux. Pretty decent after a stay in the j-hoppers guest house which is of much better quality for the same price (for dorms). The house grins in the smallest corners, the wifi runs once on 2. Soap and shampoo are supposed to be provided but were not renewable for 2 days. The only advantage: its location is in Kyoto, in the center of the different tourist places (each has about an hour's walk from the house) I had the opportunity to stay in several guest houses in Japan, I wouldn't recommend this one.

not very satisfying

I stayed in Tonbo in December during my trip in Kyoto for a conference. This is really lovely guesthouse with nice staff. I like the common room and the kitchen the most :)
The room is small but really tiny and the location is just 5 mins walk from Demachiyanagi station gate 7. Oh If I came back Kyoto, I definitely book here again!

Amazing stay here

I experienced  lots of communication with  visitors and the owner,staffs of the Guest House,  I appreciate their  hospitality and the availability of cooking facilities and utensils.  Specifically  I would like to mention  the convenient public transportation nearby. You could go easily to the down town of Kyoto City, i.e., Sanjo,Shijo, and the High Lights of Sight-seeingspots, Kinkakuji,Ginkakuji, etc..
