I have loved the whole of Japan, and have never written a bad review before, but after staying a night here I feel disgusting. I have bed bug bites all over my body and hands. The capsule was stained and old. The toilets and washroom were in the basement and smelled of smoke. 

It is such a different experience to the normal Japanese capsule hotels where cleanliness and modesty are upheld. I'm really sorry to say that this was the worst place I stayed at in Japan. 

The toilets smelled of urine, the shower curtains were damp and collecting mould, and the floors were covered in carpets - very unhygienic. 

It is located very close to the station which is why I booked it, but the price does not reflect the service I received. 

The WiFi was dreadful and only worked on one floor, if at all. 

I really don't recommend staying here, you can find a much better capsule hostel for cheaper.

BED BUGS - don't stay here, it's disgusting

We made a booking to this capsule hotel on a recent visit to Japan and was the first place of our tour. The location was spot on - it is close to Tokyo main station. It inside of the building is old, but all the facilities are in a good condition. The capsule hotel is a good place for one to two nights sleep and the beds are comfortable. The hotel provides all the necessities and we had a great experience using this concept in Japan.

Interesting experience!

Although I was born in the 90’s, the 70’s vibes were very strong with this place. Sadly, along with the era aura, came the age. It felt particularly run-down and is in clear need of renovation, but it is what I paid for. I slept well, felt safe and was generally satisfied with the overall feel of the place, including the receptionist’s calm and warm demeanour. In terms of location, this capsule hotel was brilliant: being able to walk from Tokyo station was a huge plus in my books. When weighed up, I would stay here again. Don’t go if you’re the Donald Trump or Alan Sugar type...

What I Expected

This Capsule Hotel is good for a one night stay. 

The bed was reasonably comfortable but showers are shared. They provided shampoo, soap, face wash, toothbrush. The toilet is traditional japanese style toilet where you squat instead of sit. The amnesties, though slightly old is clean. The staff was also quite courteous and helpful. 

I chose this place as it was near both Tokyo station. It was a also a 3 minutes walk from exit 6 of Kyobashi Station. Being in the ginza area, the taxi passed by here a lot and thus I managed to get a cab to get to Tsukiji Fish Market and made it just in time for the auction.

Booked this as a last-minute emergency one-night stay. This ryokan is a genuine, old-school experience if you want to experience mid-20th century Tokyo. I was a bit terrified when I saw how old the facility was, especially the shared showers and the styrofoam-covered floors, but shower rooms are separated by gender and I barely saw anyone at the hostel. The toilets are squat toilets. Of all the hostels I've stayed at in Japan, this one had the most amenities—facial cotton pads, cotton swabs, feminine napkins, Shiseido(!!) toiletries and skincare products. The capsule bed was actually alright; the tv set didn't work and it did have a lingering old smell that didn't bother me too much, but the bed was comfortable and I had a good rest because my room was mainly empty. The WiFi only worked on the ground floor, I believe. Definitely an odd experience if you want to be culturally shocked and experience an urban ryokan. A bit pricey for a night, but I also booked this at the very last minute. Seems like a lot of Japanese people stay here for a quick overnight rest. Wouldn't recommend on staying more than one night, though. Good proximity to see Kyobashi/Nihonbashi nightlife and Tokyo Station.

Ryokan

The cleanliness left much to be desired!!The capsules had 5 cm of dust on them...ugly things! Bathrooms were dirty enough and smelled bad! I couldn't shower myself...but overall it's an experience to make!!!The capsules are comfortable even though they're a little small, they can be good for an evening!Good location, central and with so many restaurants nearby.

Dirty

For those visiting Japan, it is an experience to do, sleeping in the typical capsules. The First Inn however is not the highest of cleanliness, especially in the bathrooms, and comfort. The space between one capsule and the other is very small, there are few windows and as a result it is always very hot. To try a night.

Carpet capsules so bacteria nested, the beige carpet was black with dust, wear and dirt, bars to go up/down all rusty (I didn't even dare hang up) Toilets and dirty floor, sticky. Horrible common bathroom, mold, mushrooms, disgraceful black joints, moisture... We took two capsules and the TV of one didn't work.

What to avoid!

We're spending two nights in this capsule hotel, and we're having a really bad time. The capsules are dirty, full of work, and the sheets are in them. I don't even dare to cover myself with them. The showers are really the worst. There are huge mousse plates all over the place and all the pipes have probably not been washed for weeks. The hostess is doing the minimum, without a smile. And finally, there's a persistent smell in the rooms.
