What an outstanding place to stay we had tent No6 greeted by Minnie on arrival who was a fantastic host nothing was too much trouble. The tent was very comfortable Elizabeth looked after us very well, food was excellant and the staff were always very obliging. Nelson and Jolene are a great asset to your staff always smiling and helpful. The game drives were brilliant Towalla made sure we saw everything, we did a walk one morning which was very interesting seeing everything from a different level. We would deffinately recommend staying here and hope to return one day.

Amazing stay 

After a two-day safari, we walked to the beautiful Valley Camp and were immediately greeted warmly by Minnie. The Valley Camp leaves no wishes open, the food is excellent, the tent is beautiful with a great view. Right on the first night, thanks to our guide Bernard, we saw a leopard. All the staff at the camp are very happy and do everything for their guests. A fantastic experience!

Dreamy location, fantastic food and staff

We have just returned from a combined holiday in Kenya - part one Safari and part two beach. The Safari was at Kicheche Valley camp with Minnie and the team looking after our every need. 

We were very fortunate to see everything we could possibly see, with the exception of Rhino's which are not on the conservancy. However we saw so much it is hard to list it all but highlights include, but are not limited to, 2 day old lion cubs, lions on a nights kill, with attendant vultures, hyena and jackals, Cheetahs, Leopards, one with a young cub, elephants in a mud bath and so so much more.

The camp is well appointed with just about everything thought out and available. The camp is not fenced so there is the change that animals could wander through, we saw buffalo, giraffe, zebra, Topi and Dik Dik plus others from out tent! There is a system to ensure you are safe with local warriors helping you move between areas of the camp if needed after dark - daytime is very safe.

There is a small shop on site which allows you to buy some locally produced items as mementos of your visit and provide some funds to the community.

The days start early and finish late but are punctuated with great sightings of the various animals, birds, landscape and anything else you or the driver can see. The camp provides high quality dining and supplements meals with various snacks and drinks so you are always well fueled and watered.

The people really make the experience one to savour. We believe that we were very lucky to have ben paired with Johnson our driver but also with the other guests who shared our car and/or dinner table. I have no doubt though that all the driver/spotters were brilliant as we chatted with them and their respective guests and nobody was feeling they could have had a better time.

Having singled out the tracker is unfair on all the others who made our stay so special. From Minnie through Nelson, Jocelyn (The mixologist!), Roy the chef and all the others (I apologise I do not have my notes to hand to name more but was very keen to sing their praises as a collective). Every single person went out of their way to ensure the stay was outstanding, they were friendly, informative, funny and great became great friends as a result.

So we would thoroughly recommend this as the camp to use for your safari, my wife and I absolutely fell in love with the location, experience and the people. The conservancy works really well and there are all the animals you could wish to see in their natural habitat.

An excellent safari experience with wonderful people

We spent 3 nights at kicheche valley camp at the end of September for our honeymoon. It is genuinely the most incredible experience and does not feel real. The safari was far beyond our expectations but even without the safari element, this place is nothing short of amazing. The team at kicheche valley are the nicest, most attentive, most personable people and we felt completely at home and settled in within hours. The service is impeccable. Special shout out to Nelson at camp and to our guide Twala whose knowledge and approach about the animals was second to none. We cannot thank you all enough for making our honeymoon so special. This place loves doing a wee surprise or special gesture but I wouldn’t like to ruin it by naming them- you just have to go! 
This experience is worth every penny. We were the only people in our group who hadn’t been to a kicheche camp before and they joked about it being addictive and that we would be back. They are completely correct. See you again next time kicheche valley! 

No review does this place justice- amazing!

This was an incredible experience. There were 6 tent cabins-actually very elegant and comfortable. There was gourmet dining. The staff arranged whatever I requested to do. I even travelled to Masai Mara and witnessed the crossing of the great migration. 
I felt like I was with family. Minnie was manager and Edward was Masai guide and driver. I was sad to leave.

Was like family

Minnie and the team at Kicheche Valley completed our stay at the Kicheche Camps in Kenya and like our stay at the other two camps made it a truly wonderful experience. A huge ‘thank you’ to all the team who all went ‘the extra mile’ to ensure that we had everything we needed. We would have no hesitation in recommending any of the three Kicheche Camps we stayed in as each offered a unique experience and a glimpse into the rich, varied and wonderful wildlife that Kenya has to offer.

Kenyan Safari

Absolutely first class! Can’t rate this place highly enough! Accommodation was immaculate, comfortable and spacious. The staff were attentive, friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible. The safaris were absolutely brilliant, massive mix of animals easily spotted. Our guide Mika was superb with a massive knowledge of the Mara and conservation in the area. Can’t wait to return!! ❤️

‘Good Spotting’ 🦁🐆

Kicheche camps deliver an incredible combination of comfort, hospitality, and most of all game viewing. This was our (I travelled with my adult daughter) 3rd visit to Kicheche and the high standard set on previous visits had not slipped a fraction. We stayed three nights at Mara camp and three at Valley camp. At both we had wonderful experiences thanks to the amazing skills of our guides, the attention to detail and the all round care in the camps. I am posting the same review for both camps because there is very little to chose between although, if pressed, I would say that Valley was fractionally better mainly because it was a bit smaller and even more intimate. But I could, and hopefully will visit both again.

Kicheche Is The Best

It's easy for people who've never been on safari to rate a camp 5-stars.  They don't know any better.   I've been to the Mara four times in several camps and now I feel like I need to adjust all the other camps' prior ratings because Kicheche Valley truly is a 5-star camp offering a 5-star experience.

I spent just 3 nights at Kicheche Valley but wish it was much, much longer.  From the warm greeting from Minnie and her staff to my tearful goodbye, it was a perfect experience beginning to end.  Minnie and the team are so friendly and have a knack for anticipating every want and need.  I told Minnie as I left that I came back to the Mara to relax, restore and heal after a tough couple of years, and her team really helped me do that.  The Mara is my favorite place on earth and now Kicheche Valley is my favorite spot there.

Twala was my guide and he really delivered on the sightings.  It was nice that we had a few really great sightings to ourselves (a pride of sub-adult lions play-fighting for over an hour, two lion-buffalo encounters) and that we weren't following others based on radio reports.  Twala is confident and intelligent, he knows the Mara, his 'office', extremely well.  He also knows exactly how to position me for photographs, reading the light, the landscape and the animals very well.  That my photos are so good is in part due to him.  I wouldn't hesitate to request him on future trips.

The game in Naboisho right now is very lion-heavy.  I keep track and we saw over 80 individual lions over 6 game drives.  No leopards or cheetahs when I was there, but I heard there was one leopard others saw.  Plenty of elephants (one massive big tusker bull), plains game and birds.  For big cat lovers, particularly lion-lovers like me, this is heaven!

The in-camp staff are always smiling, greeting guests by name and eager to please.  Nothing was too small of a request, whether it was iced-coffee, Malawian shandy (thank you for my new addiction!) or an amazing vegetarian menu, I felt so welcomed and at home.  I especially liked that Minnie and team subtly recognized my solo traveler status and managed to make sure I never ate alone throughout my stay.

The tents are modern, well-kept, spacious and comfortable.  Having a fan in the tent, 24/7 power, outlets to charge camera batteries, endless water (no bucket shower!!) and really comfortable beds are all huge plusses in my book.  The in-tent toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotion) and the water cooler are welcome.  For those visiting in rainy season, there are wellington boots and umbrellas.  On cool mornings there are hot water bottles in the vehicles and ponchos should you need them.  There is daily laundry service; pack light and let them take care of that for you!

There are spa services available but I did not have time to enjoy those; my focus was game drives.

I have no complaints, no suggestions for improvement, just keep doing what you're doing!  I'll see you again soon!  :-)

My new favorite home in the Mara

Outstanding care and service all around!  We chose this camp as quiet (only 6 large tent lodges) plus the reputation for high quality guides and customer focus.  Also for the more luxurious huge octagonal 'tents' which are very comfortable for those who don't like being deprived of comforts and offer amazing views!  The whole team under the great leadership of Mama Rachel were fantastic.  Rachel was exceptionally welcoming, warm and caring.  She is so professional and knowledgeable and also a brilliant storyteller at meal times!  The kitchen team including chef Ali and the wonderful Joyce looked after us immaculately. The meals including breakfast out in the bush, lunch at the camp, sundowner cocktails and canapés out in the bush again and the full dinner each evening were lovely.  The camp is very comfortable and informal, with good decor.  The rooms are very large and have everything you need in a great layout.  The bed was extremely comfortable.  Seeing wildlife straight from the camp/your room too is very special.  Faith who provides massages has magic hands and it was a treat after hours in the jeep.  Our guide/driver Bernard for our 4 days there was exceptional and to be honest all the guides are among the best in Kicheche camps, above many others.  As a local man Bernard knows so much about the animal and bird life and we learned so much from him.  He was super sensitive to animals and got us close to them in a caring way.  It was peaceful on this conservancy with a lot of wildlife to see - often we were the only car with the animals and never more than 4-5.  We had 8 drives in our 4 days - spending 5 hours out in the mornings and another 3 in early evenings.  They will adapt too your needs and wants.  We had time to just sit and 'be' with the animals at close quarters.  There is a lot of wildlife in the Naboisho conservancy - lions, elephants, zebras, giraffes, hippos, every type of gazelle and many birds.  We saw many new borns too at this time of year. It is an experience we will never forget and to be honest we are already considering how soon we could go back!
