We’ve been going here for years but I’ve never left a review. Went this year with a big family group. The owners Fabian & Dana have always been helpful, friendly, and extremely accommodating for anything you need. This is a great value and experience for families with kids. You get away from the hustle and bustle of the beach side and everything you’ll need is within a 15-20 minute drive anyway. 
We will be back , obviously.

Camp Akumal is everything you would need for a home base while visiting the Yucatan.
Great owners, clean, and comfortable.  You can even rent a car with full insurance from then. 
Also provide plenty of information of the surrounding areas.  
Great no worries attitude.

Great Home Base

After staying at all-inclusive resorts for many years, we have finally found the perfect way to explore this area safely. Camp Akumal provides airport shuttle service, car rental with all insurance and a wonderful home base. You will get a sheet of detailed directions to some local beach clubs and cenotes that will impress you very much. You can eat out of cook in. BBQ on site with two pools! Love this place, great hosts. You will like it here.

Perfect location to explore the area or just relax

Camp Akumal is a hotel located in the middle of the jungle in a middle point between Tulum and Playa del Carmen. It is noteworthy the love and dedication of its owners to assemble the hotel. The rooms are comfortable with a very complete set of dishes. The hotel also offers car rental at affordable prices. Ideal for visiting as a family. To highlight the treatment of Dana, Nico and their girlfriend, always willing to provide a great service and quality information. I definitely recommend it.

An excellent base for exploring the Riviera Maya.

Stayed at the Jungle Hotel for 6 nights. Great place to enjoy a relaxing holiday and have the best of Mexican nature. The apartments are big and clean, the pools refreshing and the sounds incredible. Upon arrival we received very detailed information about the region, which we kept as a guide the whole week. Beautful beaches and cenotes close by. Kurt as a host was very friendly and helpful. Just go there and have a fantastic time!

Just wonderful!

We loved this placed because it is simple, yet well done with modern fresh design. The king sized beds were huge with super comfortable mattress toppers and the apartment had everything we needed. To stay here you need to be looking for a different experience than a luxury impersonal hotel that has wiped out all of the coastal mangrove, and be prepared to get in the car and explore the area given the advice and tips you receive. We went to a fabulous beach and fish hut, with hammocks and plastic tables and chairs where the water is calm and with good snorkelling all for no minimum spend which is rare with all of the private beaches about. The place was full of Mexicans, as not many tourists know about it😄. You get talking to people around the site which is nice. Do be prepared though, this is the jungle, there will be mossies, ants if you leave stuff about, interesting bugs, butterflies and birds, a few resident iguanas that like banana, and you may see some snakes even! It's lovely to sit out and listen to by the pool or on the terrace. We definitely hope to come back!

Get away from the huge resort hotels to this friendly place in the jungle

This place is the best place to disconnect as it is relatively close to the city.There is no supermarket nearby but going for something to eat is the excuse to go out for a walk.The place is beautiful, the comfortable parts have the basics to be able to have breakfast and make fast meals, the hosts very attentive =) always ready to help.I recommend Camp Akumal!!

Please don't let the words CAMP or Jungle give you the wrong impression. This is an impressive property oasis with shade and crystal clear pools. The suites are well appointed and very comfortable. Full sized refrigerators and kitchens well stocked with all you need to prepare and serve the meal of your choice. Two BBQ grills with plenty of outdoor eating space. You can literally be seated and ordering food within 10-15 minutes of leaving the property at a local restaurant. The hosts Kurt and Lyn are warm and welcoming. They have extensive knowledge of the area and are eager to share some lesser known treasured places to visit. This place is awesome! My wife and I had the best time ever and have been vacationing in the Riviera Maya for 10 years. We will certainly come back to Camp Akumal the Jungle Hotel. Give it a try, you will not be disappointed. We chose airport pick up and drop off, on site car rental. They have beach chairs and snorkel equipment. Everything you need to explore cenotes and the wonderful beach clubs from this centrally located location. Leave your worries behind and experience the peace and tranquility that this jungle oasis offers. The lights at night over the walkways are charming and illuminate the beauty of the foliage. Colorful birds, butterflies and iguanas will brighten your mornings as you enjoy a cup of coffee or hot tea poolside or swinging in one of the hammocks.

Outstanding Oasis! Pefect location to explore the area.

I felt compelled to write this review in regard to the owners of Camp Akumal.  While we ended up booking another more central location for our extended Mexican vacation, I greatly appreciated the time and effort that Dana took to answer my inquiries and to accommodate our needs. I am sure that she is a wonderful and caring hostess and that Camp Akumal offers a wonderful community atmosphere.
