Excellent view, very quiet place, close to the beach and with the best attention of all, is a place to relax and get away from the stress of the city, the place is very clean and comfortable, super recommended.

Terrific place to relax and unwind.  Amy the host is terrific providing us with great restaurant and beach recommendations.  The  room was great!  Spacious and great view of the ocean.  Breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and baked goods.  Coffee was pretty darn  good too!  We booked our next trip for February 2024!

Relaxation at its finest in unspoiled Mexico

We had a great stay at Agua Azul. The ocean view from the terrazzo is beautiful. Amy the owner is very helpful and informative ( and made great breakfasts!). Also: our room had a great mattress and pillows-which is a huge plus! : )
The B & B is near two beaches: one is a beautiful walking beach and the other is a nice swimming/snorkeling beach. ( The beaches are accessible on foot via  two fairly steep hills)

I stayed here in February 2023. I was traveling with a friend - I stayed in the Delfin room, she had the Orca room. Both rooms were conveniently close to the upstairs breakfast/common room and the downstairs pool. The stairs look much longer in the photos; the stairs up or down were much shorter and easier to navigate than expected.

As mentioned in all of the newer reviews, since Amy and Frank bought Agua Azul about a year ago, the best amenity at Agua Azul is Amy. She is like the human version of google. Ask her anything and if she doesn’t know, she will find out. Restaurants, markets, good cab drivers, fun things to do…and she is so laid back about Agua Azul that I felt at home. No long list of rules, no stalking oversight, trusting her visitors with an honor refrigerator full of the coldest beer we had in Mexico (lots of variety), soda, bubbly waters, hard seltzers. Red and white wines. The beers, sodas, etc were $20 pesos, the wines were labeled with individual prices. A box to put the pesos in was located next to the frig.

The rooms each had a small refrigerator. The doors had screens so they could be left open at night to allow the sound of the ocean in. There are no televisions but there is a really big bookcase full of fairly current books to read. Fiction, non-fiction, travel and nature guides, cultural information.

Amy keeps a list of important phone numbers on a white board near the front door. The list provided us with a great taxi driver, Nico. He was always prompt and helpful. He speaks quite a bit of English too. While some of the younger guests walked to Huatulco and Santa Cruz, these two aging people took taxis everywhere. Thirty minutes of walking in the heat would have been overkill for us. Taxis are cheap and plentiful.

Breakfast was included in the room rate. This consisted of various fruits, yogurt, granola, hard boiled eggs and assorted breads and pastries. When Amy could find enough oranges, fresh juice was also provided. And a giant pot of coffee. Amy turned us on to Yum Huatulco, a food delivery app. They had 15-20 restaurants listed, and usually showed up within 30 minutes (even though the app said 45). The food was always fresh and hot (or cold if salads or desserts). It was a welcome change from going out daily.

There is a condominium development about a 5 minute walk down the hill. They sell very limited day passes, but they had a pool and loungers on the sand by the small bay. The bay was warm and easy swimming, with very few people and no motorized craft zipping around. The $500 peso fee included $350 pesos that went toward food and drink. Waiters and waitresses provided good service. The food was really good. I will make it a point to use the day pass option more often when I come back. That same beach is also accessible by a trail through the jungle at a cost of $0 pesos. Amy has chairs, umbrellas, little ice chests and snorkel equipment for use. There is a small fee for use of the snorkel equipment, the rest is included in your room rate.

Agua Azul la Villa is tied with Sun Duda Villas in Xcalak as my favorite vacation location. Agua Azul is way easier to get to though and I can’t wait to return.

Way better than expected

We stayed at agua azul in nov. 22. The accommodations and neighborhood were really sweet! The beach access trail was a bit steep although my wife and i are both in our 70's.  The sunrises from our room as well as the amazing breakfast area were stunning. Amy was a great host answering my many questions and offering advice. we will stay here again.  Also, while there visit playa bocana -it's amazing.

Very pleasant stay

Where to start. Amy is an incredible host. She is there serving a wonderful breakfast-fresh fruit, sweet breads,yogurt,granola,coffee and boiled eggs. If there is anything you want she is willing to accommodate. To quote a wise (Mexican/American friend) “if you want a run of the mill BnB this is not it”. The scenery is spectacular from your terrace in the day and at night for star gazing. The bed was super comfy and as I was just recovering from surgery a request for extra pillows was fulfilled right away. The A/C in our room stopped working and was replaced while we were out during the day, this doesn’t even happen in Canada 🇨🇦 right now(everything takes weeks to get done) so we were very impressed. A few days there wasn’t hot water but it was warm and frankly it’s so warm in Huatulco that it isn’t an issue. Amy is a wealth of knowledge about everything to do while here. There are beach chairs and blankets, umbrellas and coolers. No need to bring anything from home. Having a mini fridge in the room was a bonus for purchasing aqua and cervesas even though there is a kitchenette in the common dinning area with beverages for purchase at a very reasonable price. We so enjoy our time here. Feliz Navidad 🎄 

Perfect vacation get away

My partner and I stayed @ Agua Azul Villas for a week and had a brilliant time. Amy was super helpful and accommodating providing loads of advice before we arrived to make our stay perfect. We arrived super early on the first day as we had got an overnight bus from Oaxaca City and Amy made sure the room was ready and provided and early check in and when we left even provided a late check out as our flight wasnt until the evening. The views from the room were insane and I would highly recommend staying if you are planning a trip to Huatulco. Its a 5 minute drive from the local town but you can easily get a cab in and out.  I've been dreaming about sitting in the hammock on our terrace since we left!

Beautiful and relaxing

We had such a great stay at Agua Azul!  Amy, Frank, and the staff are very friendly and helpful!  Agua Azul is located in a gorgeous spot in Huatulco. It’s close to a very nice beach, which we very much enjoyed.  It’s also only a quick drive from downtown and numerous surrounding beaches.

The views are amazing. The main room where breakfast is served was by far my favorite. It’s a large, open space that is perfect to enjoy the view. Breakfast was very yummy and consisted of fruit, pan, coffee, and orange juice. Our room was clean, and it had a fan and air conditioner, which was great for the extra warm days. 

Overall, we would highly recommend staying at Agua Azul!

Amazing Villa!

Very calm and relaxing! Amy was an amazing host! And very thoughtful! Delicious breakfast and always very informative and helpful with planning activities. Beautiful location and the beach nearby was amazing. Would defiantly go back! Loved Huatulco😎

Anniversary

We had an amazing time at Agua Azul. Amy is welcoming and generous. Both of our open-air rooms had sweeping views of the endless ocean and lush forests. It’s a short walk to a quiet, pristine beach. Our two kids spent hours splashing around and playing in the gentle waves. Amy serves fresh breakfast each morning and happy to help with travel plans. From Agua Azul, it’s a quick taxi ride to Hualtuco where there are delicious restaurants and quality handicraft stores. One of my favorite days was spent snorkeling at a nearby beach. I’d highly recommend staying at here!
