It's a hotel that gets you out of trouble with the rooms that have stood the test of time, but it's a clean and comfortable hotel, staff is attentive and will solve whatever you ask for right away, if you don't mind the highly recommended luxuries.

Hotel Bueno y Economico is located in the heart of the city.

It was an old hotel. The bedding on the bed, although it was well washed, was also dirty. The carpet in the room was stained. The service was very average. Even at the reception a woman with her English barely knew who we were. If you have to spend one night on a budget, you can stay. But after one night we decided to change the hotel. There is a better choice in the city.

The middle hotel

I got a big surprise when I had lunch recently. The price was reasonable and the food was excellent. They gave us fries, sauces and fresh bread with our lunch. The service was perfect. We loved it and couldn't bear the urge to go back. Try the steak! Don't be intimidated by the feds eating there.

Fabulous Mexican food.

What a nice surprise when I recently had lunch. It was reasonably priced and the food was excellent. Chips and salsa are given as well as fresh bread with our lunch. The service was perfect. We loved it, and I can't wait to go back. Try the tampiquena plate! Don't be intimidated by the federales that eat lunch there.  

Great Mexican food.

The only thing I didn't like was the neglect of the hallways of the building, the carpet in very bad condition, and the bad attitude of the receptionists who instead of attending us painted it on each other, that was really annoying.

Very good hotel.

The mainland breakfast doesn't include milk or cereal, nor does yogurt virtually give you just coffee and juice....the receptionist has no attitude of service.....no soda machines or anything...and they tried to pass me lists by charging me a $154 bill in 2,000 pesos when the exchange rate was $11.60 and I had to pay in cash and wait a week for my money to be returned to my credit card....no security guard in the safe....NOTE RECOMMENDING IS HOTEL

Very bad... careless, dirty, receptionist with a bad attitude and taking advantage of the exchange rate.

I spent nearly 6 months in this hotel, almost half of 2008. It was great to be there. Initially i was bored since most of mexican peoples dont speak english. Later with the hotel staffs it was great. Most of the staffs speak english & are friendly. Weekend parties in this hotel is great. Construction of hotel gives you feeling like a resort in the middle of the town. Walkable distance from downtown & Mexico-US border.

I loved the hotel very much, they gave me very good service, very nice rooms and very nice memories.

Very nice hotel.

We were told to stay at this hotel by the company that we were visiting. 

A 20 minute ride from the Brownsville Airport got us to this relatively rundown hotel in a tired area of Matamoros. We were instructed not to walk the streets at night, but frankly, I wouldn't walk them during the day either, there didn't look like there was anything to see or do.

The staff was fine but the hotel itself is rather grim. I ended up with a suite, which had a large bedroom and a larger living room/kitchen area. This was way too much space and really only needed a good bed for the night. It would be a real value for a family though.

The room was fine, AC worked, but eh view was a ground level view of an adjacent parking lot. I think it would be better to ask for a room on the inside of the building which would provide a view of the well-maintained courtyard.

Breakfast was included in the rate and eggs were cooked to order. Tortillas tasted homemade and I recommend them.

On the bright side, we didn't stay in Brownsville which looked like a time capsule of everything bad about the 1950s.

Given the choice, I'd go somewhere else

This hotel looks nice, but the woman at the front dest is the absolute worst at customer service. Her and the man working at the front door had a bad attitude and chips on their shoulders if I asked a single simple question. They made the stay there a very bad experience. All they cared is that you pay for their over priced rooms and get out. If you voice a concern or need any help they certainly will become snotty and useless as resolving your concerns or making suggestions towards any resolution. You couldn't pay me to stay there again. I give this hotel a negative -5 on a scale of 1 to 5. There are much better hotels in the area with great customer service. Nothing about this Best Western was 5 star as they claim!!!!
