I made a reservation by phone 10 days in advance and when I arrived I was told that the hostel was full because a group had just arrived and they didn't have a reservation in my name. Then I searched Google Maps and from the comments I think it's quite normal that they do that.

Horrible service and place.

I arrived and although I had made a reservation they told me the hostel was full and that they couldn't find my reservation. I had called multiple times day of before arriving to confirm the reservation but their phone was disconnected. Horrible service, I ended up having to look for another place after arriving.

Do not respect reservations!!!!

You classify a scam online, they show you pictures of a bright, pleasant room, and when you get there they show you a hole without a window, no bathroom.

I booked a double room with a bathroom, when I arrived they offered me a hole without a window, without a bathroom.

The staff is super kind from the time you pick up your reservation until check-out, the girl who was at the reception at the time asked me for an Uber because I couldn't order it from my phone. The rooms have air conditioning that with the heat of Monterrey, are a relief.

The best hostel in the city!

The hostel is excellent, perfectly located in the old quarter, the attention is very good, always attentive to our needs, and the place has a very good atmosphere in general.

This hostel has the peculiarity of having the beds in 'camarote' style, so it provides a bit of privacy, the bathrooms/duches are divided for girls and boys, the kitchen is spacious and rustic.There is a small pool for the heat season and the wonderful is its location in the Old Quarter, that is, near everything (restaurants, bars, anthros, concert venues) and Yuri is very attentive and friendly.

I stayed here two nights and honestly can not figure out how any of these nice reviews were written. This was hands down the worst hostel I stayed at in a year in Latin America - sure the beds are comfortable with power sockets but don't expect to spell. First night there was a party right outside the dorm with loud music, yelling etc until 5am and karaoke. I kid you not - hostel staff were pretty much not existent for my entire stay except I'm pretty sure they were the ones drinking that night. No one by the door so even though there is security if the door doesn't close (or the password doesn't change) anyone can come and go - and then on the second night someone was going through all the things in the dorm brazenly whole people slept. A Japanese guy had something stolen. The person just would walk through the dorms and I actually woke up to him looking in through my curtains with his hands inside my bed!!!!! He then came back 2 different times being aided and watching me through the curtains. He was not a guest .... but no one was around to stop him. Also this night radio played all night outside at high blast so might as well have been in room (thin walls) but I wasn't sleeping anyway after all this. 

Very unsafe hostel - I honestly wouldn't even call it a hostel as they seem to get be running a space for themselves and leave whenever. Weird and horrible - you won't sleep here, so just stay somewhere else. Oh and the showers were dirty, never had toilet paper and were *cold* at all times. But really - thats the least of your worries. 

Loud, Unsafe, Weird, Expensive - Just avoid.

I was looking for places to stay on my visit to Monterrey and fortunately found this beautiful place as well as economical and it should be noted that even with affordable prices the rooms are very cozy with air conditioning, room access system with a (super modern) access key and the location is located in the Old Quarter of Monterrey where you can find bars, bistros, very picturesque alleys.

A visit to Matacanes and Monterrey

Since I made my reservation, Lucía has been super attentive. Already installed in the Hostal Karel y Lucía were very friendly. The facilities are very nice, clean and the place has what is needed for a good stay in MTY. It was my first time staying in a hostel, and it was really very GREAT. The bathrooms too, super clean, the atmosphere of the area is incredible, lots of party, options to go out to dinner and some good bar we will find near the hostel. On my next visit to MTY I will definitely arrive with you.

I love it!

It was by pure coincidence that I found Ikali and it made my stay in Monterrey an absolute pleasure! Lucia and co were incredibly welcoming, kind, friendly, and have created a lovely little hostel which feels more like staying at a friends place than at a hostel.
I couldn't recommend this place highly enough
