Tulipa is perfectly positioned to see the best of Old Amsterdam on foot. Whether it's the old masters in the Rijksmuseum, including Rembrandt's Night Watch, the Anna Frank House (make sure you book in advance) or the Red Light area it's just a stroll away. And our host Paula and Jan could not have been more accomodating.

Fantastic location to explore Old Amsterdam

We stayed late August and were not disappointed. Dropped our bags around 10AM as the room wouldn't be ready until 1PM so just had a wander round for a few hours.

The Grand suite was absolutely huge, in fact if I'm honest maybe too big for 2 but not complaining! 
Breakfast is available if you want it but we didn't try it as we didn't want to set an alarm.
Loads of places to eat and drink within a five minute walk, restaurants and bars everywhere nearby and all tastes catered for. 
Great public transport system in Amsterdam so getting about is no problem but we walked everywhere, even into the centre (Dam Square and Red Light District) which took about 25mins.
The room was very clean and well laid out, the only downside was the bathroom being a bit small in comparison to the huge room but this wasn't a problem.

Would definitely recommend this Hotel / B&B to anyone who wants a peaceful break whilst being very close to all the attractions Amsterdam has to offer.

Thanks to the owners for a great stay and we will be back!

Great location, lot's to do nearby

We spent an amazing week at Tulipa and could not have been more pleased with our stay.  Jan, Paula, and Steve were wonderful hosts and the whole experience was seamless - from booking, pre-arrival, arrival, and our stay.  We stayed in the ‘large suite with canal view’ - the room was very large, the bed was comfortable, and the view was fantastic.  The location is top- notch.  Walking distance to prime locations and many nearby restaurants and shops.  Easy access to/from airport via bus. Breakfast was available each morning for a small additional fee and it was tasty and lovingly prepared. We LOVED our week in Amsterdam and would stay at Tulipa again if we are lucky enough to return. 

Wonderful experience, beautiful room and view, fantastic location 

Tulipa was easy to find, excellent location, right near the American hotel.  It's on a quiet street that taxi's can only go on with a special pass.  Even though, we had given them our flight information, no one was there when we arrived.  We rang the special nest bell which must have told them we were there and after ten minutes, the daughter of the owners arrived to let us in.  The owners were away and it would have been nice in the email correspondence if they let us know ahead of time that someone would arrive in ten minutes because we had an appointment to get to and it caused us undue stress.  The room was up a very narrow, steep staircase, but it was large, with a high ceiling, a beautiful chandelier, and a balcony right on the canal.  It is actually across the street from the canal, but it feels like you are right on the canal.  It is very quiet, we only saw one other family staying there.  The other daughter served us breakfast which was very delicious, and she was very nice and spoke English very well.  They apologized for being away the day before.  Overall, the place felt old, carpets and decor were not updated.  There was no safe in the room and the linens were not the best. The bed was OK, it had a thin pad over a hard mattress.  Overall a peaceful, relaxing stay.  The balcony with a table and chairs on the canal made it wonderful, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Overall, a comfortable B & B

Perfect location with literally all sights in walking distance. Still relatively quiet as the street is accessible for residents only.

No need for bringing your own car anyway, the tram station is very near by. Just dump your car at Bos & Lommer P&R (dirt cheap if you follow the instructions for P&R parking - EUR 1/day). Hop on the tram no. 7 towards Azartplein and get off at Elandsgracht. There you are!

The room we had (right entrance, ground floor) was extremely spacious while the bathroom was tiny. Windows towards the street and the backyard.

Breakfast costs extra but offers great quality at a more than reasonable price. Gives also great opportunities for a chat to Paula, Jan, their daughter and her husband. All fantastic people with very good insider advice for things to do or avoid.

The rooms are not cheap, but we found it OK for a place like Amsterdam and the quality offered.

We'd come back for sure!

Beautiful place, fantastic location and all that topped by its people

went as a couple for two nights. At time of booking, the breakfast was not available, but we were later told it was reinstated. Cost E15 pp, competative with other local restaurants. However we took our own breakfast bars and got fruit locally. Very friendly reception, given map and explanation of local area. Our room was at the back (we had requested quiet room) and was large, with wide bed, very comfortable, wardrobe with fridge, Tea and coffee making facilities. Asked for milk, willingly provided. The en suite bathroom was also large and well equiped. Well positioned, easy to walk to Anne Frank's house (must book about 2 months in advance) and the city centre. Also went on a trip to Kukenhof gardens, well worthwhile.

This was in such a great spot and the rooms were huge.  Beds were really comfortable and the place couldn’t be faulted

The owner was great and was very helpful.

Would stay again if we were in Amsterdam as it was near everything but also away from the red light district and other busy areas

We are a family of 4 with 2 girls 7 and 10 when we travelled. We are well travelled and like to experience the real parts of towns and cities

This was part of a trip to Belgium and Rotterdam where we stayed with friends for most of it.

We had always wanted to visit Amsterdam so we went for a few nights

Perfect Location

We adore Tulipa and try to stay here every time we visit Amsterdam! (Keep an eye on the dates for big conventions as they will fill up immediately--everyone knows how good they are.) Wonderful location, quiet yet very close, easy public transportation for Centrum as well as concert venues right down the street, etc. We have only ever stayed in the same suite, overlooking the canal AND the garden* but have also checked out the other great rooms.The friendly common area offers ongoing tea.coffee and a great selection of travel guides, etc. You can print out boarding passes here--they also have free internet. Paula makes a superb multi-course breakfast with a wide range of dishes on offer. We are spoiled silly with her food and service--many restaurants could take a few hints from her. Paula and Jan will also suggest places to visit, routes, lesser-known features of the city (a regular flea market in the Jordaan, for one). You cannot go wrong staying here, folks!
*Just a word to the wise: "Our" fabulous, comfortable suite is reached via 37 narrow stairs--but superhero Jan will carry up the luggage! It's another 15 stairs up to the magnificent bathroom with its huge tub, separate shower, and lovely vanity/sink (with very nice toiletries), so we try to avoid midnight visits, lol.

Three visits so far!

I have just recently returned from a two night stay at this B&B with my three year old son. We had views of the canal which coupled with three extremely large windows made for a beautiful display. The room was absolutely huge with everything you need and the retro decor was something to behold. It was all beautiful and kept in excellent condition and the room was incredibly clean. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I’ve slept in, in a while and the pillows were amazing. 
Location was perfect with a short walk along the canal to the trams/buses/restaurants and everything else you needed. 
All in all, an amazing way to spend my birthday!

Beautiful B&B

We stayed for just 3 nights and you cannot wish for a better location!!! Tulipa is so happily situated on a quiet street along a canal and within a comfortable walking distance to museums square and Dam square. The concierge app that Tulipa is part of is absolutely great. It shows you great places to visit, recommended places to eat at and also has an interactive map that allows you to navigate around town without wi-fi. Book a canal view room which has a cute balcony with a table and 2 chairs to enjoy a fabulous view while sipping your complimentary nespresso machine coffee. The room is spacious with a a comfortable bed - we had a king size, and a very generous size bathroom with shower and a tub. I wish we had an opportunity to stay longer! Go and check yourself!
