A picturesque landscape, Casa da Eira overlooks the small village of Gondomil in Valença do Minho. I rented the home for my family to stay for a week to be close to all our wedding festivities. From the start, Fernanda and Germano were the most pleasant hosts we’ve met. They allowed me to tour the home prior to renting to ensure that there was enough space for my family. As COVID had changed our wedding plans, Fernanda and Germano were generous and flexible in adjusting our reservation. They were lovely to rent from and the attention to detail and cleanliness of this home truly shows how much they care for the property.

Each room is spacious and includes a private full bathroom, closet to hang/store clothing and put away your suitcase, and a sitting area. All the rooms are on the upper level with views of the village and walk out to a luscious, manicured lawn and orange tree grove. The lower level includes a sitting room with a television, kitchen, dining room, a half bathroom (toilet), and laundry room. The lower level exits out to the lower terrace where the driveway is accessible along with a large patio area and pool. An outdoor bathroom (toilet) is also on the grounds. Wifi is available on the premises, however, we did find it to be a bit spotty outdoors. Overall, we felt like we were at home and could not have asked for a better stay.

During our stay, we also hosted a welcome party for our traveling guests at Casa da Eira. The outdoor space was spacious where we had plenty of room for tables/chairs for guests to sit and eat, a space for dancing (including the local Portuguese Rancho to highlight the culture), and most importantly an area for a large BBQ to be placed to cook the food being served (we converted the covered garage as an area to serve food buffet style along with our DJ booth). With a clear sky surrounded by trees, this space was the perfect scene for an intimate party to celebrate and welcome guests to the country and kick off our wedding festivities!

A peaceful country home surrounded by nature

We've been spending a few days with family and friends for several years and it's already like our second home.The space inside and outside are perfect for enjoying and/or relaxing.There's no summer without German! :)

Second house.

We had a very relaxing stay in this beautiful historical building which has been renovated with lots of taste. Waking up in the morning and walking in the lush garden with plenty of fruit trees and enjoying a fresh orange juice which tastes like nothing you tasted before. The beautiful view over the swimming pool and the nature is breathtaking and the hospitality of the hosts is great. We felt very welcome and at home.  We had several hikes in the nature that is surrounding the house. The nearby cities Monçao et Valenca are great to visit with lots of nice restaurants and also beautiful hikes nearby with waterfalls. And going just over the boarder to Spain for a nice day trip. There are lots of things to visit in the area which makes it a perfect stay to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings 

Relaxing stay in a historical countryhouse

I advise those who visit this space to ensure that the breakfast announced is what is served afterwards. At the end of August 2019, we rented this space for 3 nights, being 5 couples. Now what is our surprise when they present us with the excuse that the usual breakfast cannot be served, which they present on the website, and they leave us a basket with a bread-shaped packaging, a dog's bread, half a dozen liters of milk, a pack of butter and a dessert of dubious appearance. This is for 3 nights, being 5 couples. Another bad situation is the kitchen cabinets closed to the key, almost bananas, giving a terrible electrical aspect.

A very high price for the quality of space and service!

It's an excellent year-round in Casa da Eira. It's an excellent group home, provides all the conditions for a good coexistence. It has central heating, a fireplace and a well-equipped kitchen.

End of year 2018-2019

For those who wish to rest and enjoy the tiny landscape this is the ideal place. family atmosphere, starring the couple, Mr. Germano and Mrs. Fernanda, always available so that we do not miss anything. Good location that allows you to travel a good part of the mine without long trips.

Sacred Rest

A place to come back and recommend to all friends who want to meet mine... the location makes it easy to visit the reference locations of the car and return on the same day, including even a trip to Spain, and in Casa da Eira, we have the nature, tranquility and sympathy of the couple Germano and Fernanda... to mention it is also a place of choice for birdwatchers with many species on the farm and around, as is the always spectacular watermelon...

Family, tranquility, friendliness, small lunches and birds...

A family of 12 people who found the Casa da Eira the best place for a family New Year's Eve. A well-equipped house with very good heating and a cozy fireplace for the cold winter days. Comfortable rooms with privacy and all amenities. The inexhaustible friendliness of Mr. and Mrs. Germano are the best welcome card.

Family Year Pass

My wife and I stayed at Casa de Eira last November, and were welcomed like family by Fernanda and Germano.  They helped us familiarize with the area and connected us with a bicycle rental company that set us up for a lovely bike ride along bike path by the Minho river.  

Every morning, we enjoyed the amazing breakfast prepared by Fernanda with local ingredients including home-made jam made with fruits from the house orchards that Germano takes personal care of.  It does not get better than that.

The house is very spacious and the rooms are comfortable and private.  Our hosts did a great job restoring it and making it comfortable for guests.

My wife and I can't wait to go back.

Incredible experience

If you like the nature, this place,  this house, is wonderful. The contact with an amazing zone of Portugal,  Minho is outstanding. 
The food, the breakfast and the house is unforgettable. 
If you go to the north of Portugal and want to stay in paradise, you must choose this place, between Valença and Monção. 
And all around there plenty of places to visit. 
The owners of the house are two wonderful persons.
