With nine rooms, large outdoor spaces, a swimming pool... and a comfortable but very carefully decorated and stylish interior, this palace, on the Ribeira Sacra, is one hundred percent recommended. How about if your house is the first thing that you give the key to the palace next to that of your room. And then there are the recommendations of the owner. Benito is a walking encyclopedia capable of recommending to you routes and activities on your days. It is not a guide, it is a historian trained as a restaurateur. And it is excellent in one way or another.

The owners, excellent hosts, provide you with all the information you need about what to do, what to visit, where to eat, etc., and they make no mistake. As for the facilities of the Pazo, excellent room, exquisite taste decoration throughout the establishment and a garden with a really bucolic pool. In short, there is no error possible when staying in this Casa Grande. The sum of perfection would be that they serve for evenings a kind of cold or fast dinner that avoids having to go out again by car to look for a nearby restaurant (which they suggest); after all a busy day, it would be appreciated.

Peace and tranquility surrounded by beauty.

A magnificent pazo located in A Peroxa near Orense, whose restoration is carried out with rigor and attention to detail. The interior combines furniture from the period with works of contemporary art. Proper rooms, distinct from each other, but maintaining a homogeneous decorative line. Very well-resolved and enjoyable common areas (garden, living rooms, gardens, swimming pool, etc....). Very good and varied breakfast. The unique pegas: 1) poor wifi and with continuous failures; 2) lack of knowledge and rigor service, continuously serving the guests (this circumstance restored the value of breakfast).

Monumental and monumental.

We stayed 2 nights at the end of a wonderful tour of Galicia. The house is gorgeous and with beautiful gardens set on the outskirts of Ourense in peaceful countryside. The photos really don't do it justice - the house has been beautifully and sensitively restored - Gill (one half of the lovely couple who are lucky enough to own it) said it took 10 years and we can believe that. The rooms and bathrooms are very comfortable - breakfast was delicious. You are really made welcome and feel you have joined a house party. The local restaurant Betys is very good - no pretensions but good food and a friendly welcome. Ourense and the stunning Gorge of Sil are close by. Ourense is a lovely town - lively and interesting.

Peaceful retreat close to Ourense

Benito and Gill act as hosts, giving advice on what to visit in the area.The decor combines traditional elements of the area with works by Gill.Both the interior and exterior are very comfortable and the swimming pool a breeze in August.The impressive breakfasts, especially the biscuits and homemade pies.

The cozy pazo is a beautiful place.

Gill and Benito, the excellent hosts, have managed to recreate in the Pazo a cozy, relaxed, stylish and very pleasant atmosphere... In the rooms, halls and lounges are furnishings and beautiful objects that reflect the origin and history of their families as well as some of Gill's paintings... In the beautiful garden stand out the Crucero, the Hórreo, the hortensias, the cypresses, the kiwi garden and the green Prado... The breakfast is extremely rich with local handicrafts... cheese panels, the kiwi and the marmalade, incredible!!... As you can imagine, our experience in this environment has been great!!... we have rested and enjoyed La Ribera Sacabera, Orense de Orense de Termas... and we wish to come back again... we are back!!

A wonderful experience in a Pazo...

The rooms are very comfortable, the living room with the fireplace is a great place to chat, the breakfast is fabulous, the attention of the owners is ideal and the whole pazo has an unparalleled charm both for the building and for the natural landscape in it.

Total peace 

This was our first stop on a week long driving tour of Galicia. After getting lost around Santiago we had an easy journey to Ourense. We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a very chatty lady who spoke a lot of Spanish which was all well and good but none of our party could speak the language. After lots of hand waving and a few words from our phrase book we were less than optimistic we had booked a taxi to take us to a restaurant at around 9 pm.  We were saved by the owner Benito who spoke perfect English and arranged for us to go to two local restaurants during our stay. He confirmed we had totally confused Teresa who thought we were rather old (and probably odd).
This is a really delightful place, beautifully decorated with lots of interesting art work.
Breakfast was excellent. The situation of the hotel is an oasis of calm not far from the main road into Ourense.

Teresa met us with a beaming smile and showed us to our pre-warmed  and comfortable room upstairs (it was so cold outdoors).  The house has been painstakingly restored by Benito and Gill, the friendly and thoughtful owners and they have put their own stamp on it with Gill's artwork. Our room was large and bright with a beamed ceiling and windows on two sides.The bed was very comfortable. Useful waste paper basket (often lacking). We spent time in the beautiful communal sitting room with crackling log fire - one of us fell asleep in front of it (not me!) - and we really appreciated the complementary teas, coffee - and something a bit stronger.  Breakfast was in a lovely room with another log fire and there was everything you could want to start the day including gluten-free bread and magdalenas (requested on our booking form). Por decir algo, as they say, the only think we missed was a surface to rest our suitcases on in the bedroom.  When you get to a certain age, it is uncomfortable to open and close them on the floor.  Apart from that there were lots of thoughtful touches including chocolates - and the contents of the top drawer in the bathroom!  We had a very comfortable stay and it was a wrench to move on after only two days.

The Casa Grande de Soutullo is gorgeous, with a castle feel, a huge park and very high-quality services. We were very well received by Teresa who prepared high-end breakfasts for us. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable, very well decorated like the rest of the casa. We loved it. Recommended very strongly.
