A comfy place to rest after a long day on the Camino. Rooms are basic but clean and well kept. The hosts are welcoming and were very helpful when I needed to retrieve something I had left at a previous location. Loved the generous communal breakfast and the picturesque location by the river.

Beautiful location, helpful hosts

Small guesthouse (only one star, but you wouldn't say!) in Zubiri. One night spent on the occasion of the 'Camino de Santiago de Compostela'.

It's a super-mega boarding house!

Something better than a hostel, but little more. Tiny rooms, with bathrooms with no room to move around. In the cup you have to sit on your side, so as not to stumble over the sink. No place to put the suitcase. The breakfast, loose. Everything packed in plastic, straight from the supermarket (white brand of a well-known chain), except the bread, from the previous day. Next to the river. On the date we were there (October), a lot of humidity. There was no heating, at that time, all the wet clothes, and a strong smell of moisture in the room to be fought - along with the caías - with a strong ambient, which makes a totum revolutum of strong smell.

Along the way there are much better boarding houses and hostels.

I stayed 1 night at Pension Amets while walking the Camino. Fortunately, the host has a large sign on her house at the beginning of the village even though the pension is further on. Without the sign I would have had to work out how to contact her with only a US cell phone and very little Spanish. Even though it was early she brought me to the pension and let me check in to my room which is always welcome after a long walk. The pension is within a line of 2 story attached apartments and has 6 or 7 rooms plus a large common room with a the large screen TV, fridge containing beer and soft drinks and a huge dining table. There is also a kitchen and bookshelves that are locked which I am guessing is part of the coronavirus containment measures. There is a backyard with washing lines leading off the common room. 

My bedroom was very small, containing only a double bed and single dining chair but expanded a bit with a narrow balcony out the front. The only window was the door leading on to the balcony. The bathroom was also really small but adequate. As it turned out the bed was made in heaven - quite the most comfortable that I have had over the last 6 weeks of travel and I slept better than I have since leaving home. A couple of other rooms were also occupied by walkers and although the soundproofing wasn't particularly good everyone settled down pretty early so noise was not a problem. 

The wifi worked very well in the common room and the bedroom. Overall, Pension Amets was well priced and absolutely worth the money based on the super comfortable bed alone.

Helpful Host

Well maintained by the owners. Bathroom with bathroom and well situated. Beautiful bedroom. Very comfortable bed. After walking 28K is a very good place to rest and spend the night. They offer breakfast for an extra 5€.

Clean, tidy and well priced.

On the way to Santiago we stopped in Zubiri and decided to buy the Amets boarding house because a friend recommended it to us. The boarding house is about 40 meters from the rabia bridge on the right. The José y Rosa deal has been spectacular, like at home. Double room with bathroom with very comfortable beds and a very good breakfast with fruit, toast, coffee, stews, juice... And everything for 60€. We were advised on things to see and where to stop and even given us a guide to the road.

The best option in Zubiri

The couple who runs this place is the best.  My friend left her wallet with 300 euro, and they found a way to SHIP IT TO US at our next stop on the Camino with all the money intact. If that's not an example of the kind of people whose business you want to support, then I don't know what is! The breakfast is standard fare on the Camino for the standard 5 euro except that they make everything as you sit there, so your toast is still warm and freshly toasted, etc. To find the place, DO NOT LOOK AT GOOGLE MAPS.  Google Maps will lead you to the place you will sleep, but you need to check in first at a place that is literally right when you hit Zubiri from the Camino (couldn't be closer). Look left right as you reach the bridge to cross into Zubiri. There is another accommodation there, but in the same driveway, in the back, there is a sign for Amets. Go to the door, and the couple will greet you and take you to the room, which is around the corner very nearby. This couple was one of our favourite Camino encounters!

A cozy house in a small town with a lot of charm. my private room with everything needed for a good rest, with a garden exit, views of nature, the best way to sleep and wake up!! best of all, Rosa and Jose, both very attentive, wonderful people you meet along the way. it was an amazing experience and would definitely repeat my stay. thank you very much.

This is a quiet place, old fashionned but well equiped... 
Diner was good and only 12euros 
Breakfast was ok (miss eggs...)
I had to ask 2 for café
No sharing with the tenants 
Exceptionnaly apparently no hot water for all the pelgrins, rooms are very humid... 
So maybe there is better in Zubrini for 45e

We were welcomed by the owners, they were very friendly. Hotel is well located, great Wi-Fi connection, delicious bathroom. It's close to some restaurants and shops. Good, comfortable bed, no TV in the room.
