I spent a couple of days at Sylvester's Villa... and was really relaxing! 
Anthony is really nice and kind... a careful person... helps you when you need the most!
Breakfast is generous and very good! Easy to run into new friends!
Is located close to the main beach and close to Sea Rd, where you can find shops and nice restaurants and bars... 
Also the center of Negombo is not far away.. you can easily reach it by walk or renting a bike! 
I really recommend Anthony's place!

I stayed at Sylvester Villa for 4 nights and am grateful for a smooth transition to a beautiful country. 
My first 2 nights I stayed elsewhere and I was happy to change to Sylvester Villa which is located very nicely. 
I can affirm all the aforesaid, hot tea, Wi-Fi  and good advice from Antony and his lovely family. They are very helpful and caring people.

I stayed here with a group of 13 - 11 17/18 year old girls and two members of staff. We had a brilliant time at Sylvester Villa!  There were the usual problems in a tropical country with insects, but Anton did everything he could to ensure we were happy, moving beds, doors and fans as we requested. It was an ideal location for us, as there were 3 cabanas for sleeping, and the lovely garden area was great for relaxing. It was also enclosed - at the back of the family house, so felt very safe. We had a fridge to store drinks in and were given a large thermos of hot water everyday so that we could make coffee or tea. Two of the cabanas had air conditioning, and the other had ceiling and floor fans. The rooms were clean and most were quite spacious, with lovely big bathrooms. There were two shower heads in the showers - one with hot water and one with cold, so you could choose to have a hot or cold shower. I always chose to have a cold shower - very refreshing after being out in the sun during the day. I found my stay there to be very comfortable, and Anton to be a delightful host, who was always very accommodating. I would definitely consider using Sylvester Villa if I travel to Negombo again.

Great stay

I was one night just arriving in Sri Lanka to get used to and refresh the journey.It was off season (October) and I was alone in the hostel.The owner was very friendly and kind, his wife and daughter too.Very recommended, price adjusted.It is a bit far from downtown, but you can rent a bike.Close to the beach.

 Kindness and tranquility

Comfortable bed, van (airco if you pay extra), spacious double room and bathroom. Not really clean. Water is cold, not much pressure. Ask for toiletpaper and towel. No bin, only outside. Seats outside are great and gardenview even better.

I could use the fridge and get boiled water to make my coffee in the morning, but you have to ask (and if he leaves the kitchendoor open so you have access to your cold water). I read breakfast is included but it's not. He made me a plate with bread and fruit and could give him money later (strange...) 

The wifi doesn't stretch to the end of the garden where the rooms are, so he brings the modem. I had to request it stays there...

Within 5 minutes walking distance there's the beach and the main road for shopping, eating, tour agencies etc. 

Anton is willing to help with what you ask. Kind of had the feeling he pushed his buddies towards me to make business out of me (bike rental, massage, tuk tuk) but is also willing to arrange a 'good price'. I think it's inherent to the culture and can't blame the man for trying

No 24hr reception (like Booking listed) because it's a guesthouse ran by a family. 
If you are a solo traveller, it's not the best place to meet others. Also not for long sleepers because it can be noisy and he woke me up when I slept to long!  

Basic room, small villa

I stayed 2 weeks in this hotel, just 10 minutes walk from the beach and there are a lot restaurants close by. Rooms are tidy, garden is very well maintained and price very affordable. Suitable for backpackers and budgeted travelers. Staff are very attentive to your needs , they always check if you need anything and they are very helpful in advising you for excursions and highlights in the area . Lovely stay, very strongly recommended !
