We have been to  Dalarna many times and stayed in many places, but this was by far the best. Built using old buildings that are completely modernized inside and new buildings with log exteriors that look old, our room was large and comfortable with a lovely view of the lake. Weekdays at this time of year (late September) are quiet. There was only one other couple there, so check in sometimes required making a call to get Mats to come down, but everyone was so friendly and helpful.

The essence of Dalarna

We had room 22, which is half a household, which you share with number 21 on the other side. The room is very comfortable and probably also newly renovated. The kitchen is equipped with everything necessary for 6 people, and here everything is very clean and new. There is a large refrigerator and three drawers of ice cream. The beds were large and very comfortable. In front of the house is a well-kept lawn with lawn that reaches down to the Siljan Sea. Ideal for children to play and run around. In front of the house there are also stalls and benches where you can eat and sit down until late at sunset. WLAN is also available for families to enjoy at the table and ensures that you can enjoy a good breakfast in the supermarket.

Beautifully situated and perfect for expansion

The hotel is truly a secret discovery offering peace and quite in a fantastic location. We had booked the Easter Package and room / suite 3 in the main building which has a fantastic view of the Siljan Lake and a bubble bath. The package included 2 nights with a 3 course dinner each night (wine extra) in the lovely restored restaurant. (If you can get the window table and enjoy the sunset of the lake - alternatively sit at the little bar and enjoy the view with a glass of wine or whatever is your drink. The service was friendly and extremely helpful from booking through to check-in, during our stay and check-out. A great place for a romantic weekend.

A Secret Discovery

Overall - one of the most beautiful and peaceful hotels I've stayed in. A nice view on the lake Siljan, a very quiet atmosphere and nice, spacious rooms.

We only stayed for 1 night, but I would recommend to stay at least 2 to relax in a very good way. The restaurant in the hotel perhaps was a bit pricey compared to the quality, but also you won't be left complaining, since there is nothing else around to chose from, and it was still quite delicious.

Quiet, romantic and beautiful scenery!

We visited the bistro at the Hotel Siljanstrand because the host was so kind to us after we were actually just curious to put our nose in the bistro. The location directly overlooking the Lake Siljan is of course a big plus point. The whole complex has been converted into a hotel since 2010, trying to preserve old and carefully combine with new ones. So is the bistro set up. Simply put, you could also say that the food is supposed to work.

A new star in the culinary skies of Tällberg?

Avoid Siljansgården in Tällberg if You want a comfortable night. This is a guest house rather expensive but with very low standard. The rooms is small and dark.
We are though most unhappy with the beds. When time for sleep we suddenly discovered that the beds was to short, like made for children. At that time in night it was to late to contact the staff to get another room. We didn´t sleep at whole night! We asked the owner next morning why we hadn´t been informed about this when we booked the room. Answear to that was that we should discovered the short beds when we entered the room and then changed room to another (of course more expensive!).
If You want to stay in Tällberg, Dalarna You should book one of the hotels instead of this. It costs just a few hundred (100-200) SEK more than Siljansgården but hundred times better.
