We came together for Christmas. We lived on the 4th floor. The room was two separate beds. The pictures showed the rooms being cute. The rooms were really spacious. But: the dead bathroom, shower, toilet. Everything is old and stuffed very much. The boxes. Although they're melting. The mattress is hard, the laundry is clean, but... stuffed like what?) The walls, of course, are cardboard. The neighbors sit on your bed and talk to you)) Paranoia: that someone is constantly watching you from the mountain of rubble on the floor. The ghosts of the residents?)

They expected more.

Squallido. The staff only speaks Russian and despite being warned of our arrival, they didn't find us, leaving us in the cold and with our backpacks for half an hour or more. There is no way to communicate and they don't even try us. The hostel is horrible and the room is big so it warms badly. The night was very cold and the bed is the most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in, all broken and with hard springs in sight. It destroyed my bones. I don't advise you, the location is good and next to the subway but you can definitely find better with the same money.

It's terrible.

The Hostel was dirty and disorganized. The rooms we (mostly) clean but shabby in a way that is unacceptable even for a budget hostel. The stairwell is used for smoking by the staff and everything reeks of cigarets. The staff (who do not speak any english) are unfriendly and unhelpful. There was a worn sticker on the door that claims "Best Hostel of 2006" by a long defunct travel site. Given that the maps and posted info are also out of date this place is just very neglected and old. 

The location is great and the place is cheap. That's about all the place has going for it.

Worn out and dirty

We stayed at the hostel before leaving for Egypt from Borispol airport. We liked it. Clean, neat, good location, excellent wi-fi. We had a separate room for the family. On the floor it was quiet. The entrance to the hostel itself is, of course, scary, but the room is quite decent for this price.

A decent hostel in the center of Kiev

The big plus of the common room here is that it's only 5 places at the same price as the one offered for a place in 12 or more local hostel rooms of the same level. Of course when people are smaller, much more cozy... In the room are nice beds, a closing closet for upperwear, a safe for personal items, a large table with chairs.

It's a good hostel.

It's a hostel with good location. The personnel is really friendly and helpful. We had problems to get a taxi to a place 1h outside Kiev. So the owner of this place took us and drove us all the way and guided us around. He showed us some amazing places. It was one of the best days in Kiev and it's because of this guy. So the personnel is really good. The Hostel is an old hostel, but still it's very calm and u can have a good night sleep. It's a hostel for people who want's to see the city and not stay at the room all the time. It's worth the money. 

Friendly and happy personnel 

Spent one night there. The place is quite tidy and well situated. Staff is friendly and supportive (e.g. I did not know how many nights I'll have to spend in city and the administrator agreed to "roll-out" my reservation on daily basis).

Perfect value for money in historic part of the city

Pros:
Really good location (5 minutes from Kontraktova square metro station, 10 from Podol district and some 15 minutes from Andriyivs’kyi descent). Also, there are bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets in the neighborhood.
Staff was nice, friendly and helpful.
Nice, cozy and quite place.
Big rooms.
Good security (lock on the building entrance, on each floor and rooms).
Overall good value for money.

Cons:
Building is quite shabby and could be a bit cleaner in general. Stairway is dirty and  battered, but the rooms were quite clean so it's not such a problem.
Showers/toilets could be a bit cleaner.

Offers good value for money

I was here few years ago, but I still have in memory wounderful time witch our group
had there. Kiev is a beautiful city. People are friendly, vodka is cheap. Hostel is good quality, clean and good comunicated.



For party people

The best hostel in Kiev. Quiet center, 5 minutes from the metro. It's in a residential house. Quiet and cozy. There's Wi-Fi, it's working perfectly fine. The bathroom is clean. Neighbors can't hear. The kitchen is on the first floor, next to the reception. So you won't smell the cooking. The only nuance is that it's going to be hard to carry a suitcase on top of the girls, so ask for help.
