We had a lovely family lunch with excellent service! The food was delicious and the staff are so friendly. They ensured we had a great time! The location is perfect and a walk along the loch was delightful. Easy parking with lovely little cobbles adding to the character of the hotel.

Had a lovely meal yet again, fantastic staff on hand to answer any queries about food , drink , the area , were lucky because we only stay a bit away so pop in frequently.
It's always warm as the fire is on its so cosy.

Dinner

The inn was undergoing renovations when we stayed there but that did not affect us too badly. The room was fairly small but comfortable. The stairs are quite steep and could be a challenge for people with mobility problems. Location is great at the end of Loch Lomond.

Really disappointing stay. No food, beer was awful. No atmosphere anymore. Upon arrival after a long tiring drive we went to the room which had no view and overlooked the bins and bar staff were emptying glass bottles right under our window, so noisy. Stuffy, hot room. Breakfast was underwhelming, undercooked sausage, raw tomato, hard egg yolk and jerky-like bacon, stale mushrooms. Everything was so expensive. It used to be really good and good value.

Gone downhill rapidly

Beautifully situated- struggled to find initially as not signed inn keepers lodge. 
Disappointed with the room for money we paid stained carpets, stain on sofa bed cracked and peeling paint on walls sofa bed could feel every spring on it- kids struggled to sleep.

Stayed here for two nights at the end of a NC500 trip 

I was very disappointed with the first room we were offered - it was a little noisy as it was overlooking the main road but the main issue was the horrible damp smell in the bathroom which was horrendous 

After complaining the manageress seemed to indicate it was a known problem with this room when it rained …. This is not a cheap hotel so if this is a known problem I was surprised they put us in this room in the first  place 

We were given another room which was much better …although still a little noisy with an extractor fan outside .. but it was clean and well decorated 

The bar area was traditional and full of charm 

The evening menu was very good - staffing was very friendly and attentive 

Breakfast was very good too  - with a good selection of food with an excellent selection for vegetarians

Overall, although there are many positives about the hotel the experience with the first  room is disappointing and the cause of the dampness needs to be investigated and corrected asap (and have also been mentioned in other reviews too)

Disappointing - damp room!

A fantastic location. Staff were brilliant in their hospitality and service. Food was very good. The menu is not extensive. My room did require a little maintenance, ie walls needed a bit of touch j up, The WC flush handle definitely needed fixing. However wiuld stay again without hesitation.

A excellent stay

We stayed in Room 2 and the views over River Leven and Loch Lomond were stunning....stunning!! Room 2 has a corner aspect so you get the best of all views. However, the room itself needs some attention as the shower room is smelly (damp/fousty) and carpet needs a clean so a bit over-priced. However the food is lovely, the dining/lounge area is really pretty and olde worlde, but what makes this place is the staff!! They were so nice, so friendly and so helpful! We ate there on our first evening in the restaurant in Balloch House, and we were happy with the food - really good value for money. They cater for vegetarians but not vegans. The vegetarian breakfast was lovely but no usual fare (sausage or vegan bacon) but i enjoyed it anyway! Beetroot features a lot (beetroot cake, beetroot hummus...??)

Room so so, staff very friendly and helpful

We had a great stay at this beautiful lodge. The staff was exceptionally attentive and friendly. The restaurant as well as the pub are cozy and the food was great. We will definitely come back again! !

Lovely hotel, great landscape, great staff

While the location of this hotel is very good, we found the room uninhabitable.  The room is musty and smelled of damp.  The shower tiles / grout are covered in black mould.  Bedding, carper and skirting boards all has numerous stains on them.  The room is very tired and resembles in no way the pictures on the hotel website.
