We had three nights at eh Ormsgill Inn in September.   Parking space available.  Receptionist efficient and helpful, carried my bags upstairs.  Room was spacious, clean with view over to the mountains.   Beds had plenty of pillows, clean sheets and very comfortable.   Bathroom was great as had huge walk-in shower with shower gel provided.   Breakfast was excellent and we had the choice of breakfast time up until 09.30.   Beautiful meal with plenty of choice.   Cereals, fresh fruit, and full English breakfast was delicious, hot and prompt.   Lots of toast, juice and water on request.  And tasty jams and marmalades.  Could not ask for more.
Hosts could not do enough for us at every stage of our stay.

A surprising Gem

Lovely stay at this very welcoming inn. Hosts were fabulous, rooms were very clean and spacious, bed comfortable had a great couple of nights sleep, breakfast very tasty. All in all a great place to stay and a good base for travelling around this area of Cumbria!!

Stayed with my grandsons 10 & 8 as we were visiting the safari zoo.
Was a little nervous on arrival as the bar area was full of guys who had clearly been enjoying a boozy afternoon.
We nipped out for dinner and were shown our room.
Wow !
I was really surprised it was beautiful.
Manchester City were playing that evening and the staff allowed the boys to sit and watch.
The boozy crowd I had been so nervous about were really friendly and chatted with me and the boys. They made us feel very welcome in what was obviously their local.
Beds were really comfy and we all slept well.
Breakfast was delicious.
I would 100% recommend 

Exceeded expectations 

We had a night in the family suite, and the owner couldn't have been more polite or accomodating. The rooms were spacious and clean, with the breakfast super tatsy. We felt really welcomed. If you need a budget stay, this hands down beats local big hotel chains. It's on the outskirts of barrow too, only 30mins to windermere.

Little Gem of an Inn/Hotel

Friendly, warm welcome from the staff.
Large, comfortable, clean room with newly refurbished en suite bathroom.  Comfortable bed and spotless bedroom.  
Breakfast plentiful and tasty. 
Would highly recommend !

Amazing value for money!

My family stayed here for one night as a stop gap between  a recent holiday break. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. Our room was a triple with a double bed for us and 2 singles in the other part, which meant it was ideal as our son is 15 and loved that he could have his own room with a door in between. The bed was very comfortable and there were biscuits, tea & coffee in both rooms.  The bathroom  had a great shower and the whole room was spotless & clean. The bar downstairs had a pool table and we were able to have a couple of drinks, play pool and relax after a hectic day of travelling. The breakfast was very tasty and all fresh ingredients. We were asked what we would like and we all opted for the full English. There is a menu on the table for other options. 
We had a great experience and will definitely be back next year. Well done to all the staff who made our stay  very welcoming.

Fantastic Place

We have been to the ormsgill many times for drinks when down visiting family but it was our first time staying in the hotel over night.
Have to say our stay was lovely , a clean and comfortable and friendly staff.
Beds are lovely and comfortable and unlike some places I have stayed I had a really good night's sleep.
Breakfast was lovely and the whole stay was very good value for money. 
We will defiantly stay on our future visits to see family and would highly recommend it to others.

Over night stay 

Found this on Booking.Com. Do not be put off by the exterior, this is a great hotel. A very warm welcome from Jim, then up to our room. This has recently, been extensively upgraded, again, do not be put off by the exterior; beautifully appointed rooms....I have had worse rooms in, some so called, four and five star hotels. Must state for the record.....THIS HAS TO BE THE CLEANEST HOTEL we have stayed in.....It's SPOTLESS! Great breakfast, cracking vibe in the rear bar at night too. Approx 1 - 1,5 mile walk into town centre or £3.40 in a taxi. To top it all off, secure parking to the side of the hotel is a bonus. Highly recommended, we will be back.

Cracking Little Find In Barrow

A little distance out of Barrow centre but within easy reach, the Ormsgill looks unprepossessing from the road into town. Inside, the bedrooms are newly refurbished, spacious, comfortable and 'stylish.' The new shower rooms are a delight. The host and staff are friendly and welcoming and the bar stocks the usual range of drinks (including good beer, I'm told) that you would expect in a decent pub, unlike many hotels. Highly recommended.

Deceptive exterior

Recently stayed here , hotel is in a somewhat dismal area of Barrow!, but as I was here for work not really an issue, nothing local to speak of as far as I could establish, the hotel room I had was recently renovated and really was perfect with one of the comfiest beds I have had to use in any hotel!.
However the rest of the hotel was not as modern but adequate.
The breakfast was more than sufficient and staff pleasant, I did not have any evening meals during the time I spent here so cannot comment.
Parking at the side of hotel was good although I suspect if the hotel was full this could be a bit iffy although on street parking is available.
All in all a pleasant experience!
