This accommodation  is more suited to contractors,  we have stayed here 3 years running at first the cost was reasonable, but obviously, the cost has to rise as years go on.£65  for a poor standard  room ,we couldn't  flush the toilet even lifting  the cistern lid. How do you manage  to use the hairdryer when there is no mirror  adjacent  to the plug socket?  No mirror in the room other than the bathroom? Unfortunately  we will be looking elsewhere  for 2024 NY Eve

Disappointed 

Loud music in bar and could be heard from first floor room, 
Shower awful ie cold....no heating in room.
Yes cheap but not worth it.
Awful location .......quite scary .......staff were helpful to start but then did not care. 
Wrote a honest review and they did not like it,  so asked me to re submit as i told the truth.
Would not recommend two women to go on their own.
Nobody on reception on checking out, and  they lied to say there was.......so no one there to help.
Whole place needs refurbishment......very poor but i can say clean. 
Will never stay there again but the hotel owner has said would not let me stay again.......so no loss there........so their comments show how awful they were.
I have a right to speak the truth and let others know..

Awful stay and experience

Found the whole experience of staying here awful. So out dated, noise that went on all night, through to morning. No one seemed to have any respect for anyone else. Dogs barking, people shouting
Bathroom was mouldy and walls were dirty.
No breakfast was provided, nor could we find any staff on the morning we left. Will definitely not be staying here again.

I went to  Barrow with friends to watch a midweek football match my team were playing there and wanted a reasonably priced place to drop my stuff and come back to after a few beers and the game. The Ambrose did the job fine for us. The bed was comfortable, the shower was good and easy to work and the room clean. My expectations weren't high but I was pleasantly surprised, as a bonus after the game we came back to the bar and they had 2 pretty decent real ales on amongst the plethora of exotically named chemically manufactured fizz. It's not too far from the station though not in a very scenic part of town. They don't do food so went elsewhere for breakfast. If you want a clean, budget hotel as we did this place fits the bill, it's all about expectations.

No frills but clean and comfortable.

This was not what I expected. Room was dusty. Bed screws coming out . Cupboard  moving from side to side about to collapse.  No breakfast which was on many sites as a free breakfast.  Internet didn't work. We only stayed one night then left . It seems we can not have a refund as we handed the keys to the wrong persone at 8.30 in the morning. Would not recommend .

Miss

We arrived to say the staff were awful was a understatement. We then got to our room to say it was terrible is a understatement. Dirty wall , dirty shower . Furniture falling to bits . We kept out of the room as much as we could . There was no breakfast as it said there was . Then we got so new people in the next room . They were banging doors shouting this went on for hours eventually I opened the door and asked for them to have some consideration that we were trying to sleep. We we’re told on booking the hotel had been refurbished. We looked on the site and our room was no were to be seen what a surprise. Would never stay here again or advise anyone too

Terrible

Arriving at 12.30am the night porter never lifted a finger to even carry a paper bag up the flights of stairs; we were laden with heavy luggage plus the dog & dogs bed.  He showed us to our room and couldn't get away quick enough when he heard the noise coming from the room next door.  Having driven hundreds of miles, all we wanted to do was sleep, but they were still partying next door, so at 2.30am I went down to reception & told him to either move us to another room or tell them to stop the noise, he did the latter.  
There was no breakfast the next day, they don't include it, but still advertise that they do.
The whole place is tired and in need of decoration; torn wallpaper, stained bathroom walls, batteries flat in TV remote, extension lead to kettle didn't work.  
The following night a couple moved into the room next door with their dogs, who barked for most of the night.  The people in the rooms above complained as well; so another disturbed night.  I had to bang on the wall in the end!
There was never anyone on reception.
I was glad to get out of the place and would warn anyone from staying, particularly when it's more expensive than much nicer places in Barrow.

Not as expected

This hotel is a place od two parts. Part 1, the downstairs bar area is great, the staff are friendly and helpful, the drinks are reasonably priced and the inclusive breakfast is superb. Part 2, the upstairs accommodation. The rooms a small and in need of improvement. There are holes in the walls and stains on the carpets. The walls are so thin we could hear everything from the next room. 

OK but not brilliant

If your looking for value for money and a hotel perfect for dogs then this is the place. Good location being near a retail park with fast food outlets and a 24 hour supermarket. Own car park, large rooms and an excellent breakfast. Dogs got a biscuit on arrival and the staff were very friendly. The pub downstairs is lively in the evening but it didn't disturb us. There was even a small park over the road to walk the dogs in early morning and late at night. If you want perfect decor in your room and your going to exam the tile grout then this is not the place for you. If you want a great value hotel, dog friendly and a fantastic breakfast served by friendly staff then you need to book.
