We just enjoyed a really restful 10 day family holiday in shipload cottage. Everything was perfect from the comfy beds to the views out the kitchen doors. Martin was on hand at all times and his communication and attention to detail was outstanding. This is a great location for exploring the North Devon area but is nestled away from all the craziness of peak season summer. I would recommend to anyone. 

Lovely, fully equipped peaceful cottage

Shipload Cottage was lovely, equipped with everything. The garden birds were fantastic to watch each morning - bluetit, nuthatch and a woodpecker!

Perfect holiday!

This is a lovely quiet location providing an excellent traditional farm cottage holiday on the Hartland Peninsula. We had a great time and the cottage is just right for a couple. Lovely and clean and nicely equipped. We would certainly come back again.

Lovely rural retreat.

Barley Cottage is a lovely one bedroomed cottage, very well equipped with everything needed to make a comfortable holiday home. A secure garden for the dogs which was very well looked after, ample parking and very secluded.
It is in a quiet location just 2 miles from Hartland, the only sound is birdsong.
Nearby are so many walks, one is spoilt for choice, whether it be the coastal path, walking through the woods or taking any of the many footpaths around the cottage itself. There are hidden beaches and cliffs to explore just a short 5 minute drive away.
Hartland has 4 pubs all serving food; we ate Sunday lunch in The Anchor which was superb, their specials board is also very good.
The Hart was equally good with their offering of freshly cooked home made dishes.
If you drive into Bude there is an excellent beach cafe “Life’s A Beach” serving the catch of the day or meat dishes - excellent value for money and so fresh.
Overall we rated this the best holiday cottage we have rented, so much so that we have booked again for next year!

Brilliant Barley Cottage at Yapham Farm, Hartland

Best place ever. We keep going back.  Martin is lovely but not in your face as they say. Accomdation absolutely great, comfy bed nice cooking area. Dog loved it. So many walks on the doorstep if you don't want to drive. If you don't mind driving there's plenty of restaurants nearby.

Beautiful cottage in a lovely quiet country location. Absolutely loved our stay and can't wait to make a return trip. Comfortable, warm, perfect layout of this converted barn and we had everything we could need and more. Martin our host was always on hand if we needed him but was very respectful of everyone's privacy. Great location for beaches and walks. Highly recommend.

Warm, comfortable beautiful cottage in beautiful setting.

Although it might not be the best season to visit Devon in Jan, it was such an excellent experience for my wife and I to stay at Yapham..... We enjoyed the beautiful views, tranquility,  and many birds around...robins, great tits,  blue tits, long-tailed tits, linnets, goldfinches, wrens, 10 pheasants including two beautiful male pheasants, buzzards and more!! ..... We saw an owl fly away but were not able to take a photo.  However, I was lucky enough to take a photo of spotted woodpecker with my mobile.   

By the way, the general manager Martin was exceptionally warm and kind and the cottage itself was faultless!  We will be back in summer without doubt!

Tranquil, Beautiful, Comfortable and a Must for Bird Lovers !

My dog Rory and I stayed for Christmas. A lovely cosy warm cottage which is really dog friendly. idyllic rural setting providing peace and quiet, but still near to fabulous beaches and walks. The cottage had everything you need.

Idyllic cosy cottage in a rural setting

1. Wasps dead and alive in the bedroom and living room.
2. Mattresses have dust mites 
3. Mattresses have lost support and they cause terrible backache that you can only wish to go back home.
4. Sofa and armchairs have not seat or back support causing backache.
5. Shipload cottage is over cramped.
6. Skylight glass windows need to be replaced 
7. Smell of damp
8. Cushions lack of fillings
9. Spiders and wood lice crawling in the bathroom and living area.


Terrible

The cottages are situated in a beautiful area of the country and the cottages themselves match their surroundings.  They are well laid out, equipped and vey clean.  Barley Cottage, which we had had it's own enclosed garden which was just what my dogs need.
The cottages are managed exceptionally well on site and nothing is too much for the manager.
A wonderful experience.
