Hubby and I had booked the Dairy for 5 nights.  When we arrived we welcomed by our hosts who explained about the shower & heating etc, they were very helpful and were not far should we need them.  Our stay was lovely, we had a patio outside (if it wasn't for the weather we'd have used it, thanks storm Ciaran!), there's lovely view across to St Nectan's church and the sea beyond. The Dairy had a well equipped kitchen, a lovely warm shower/bathroom.  The lounge had a comfortable sofa, with a TV, dining table and a coffee table, there was also a supply of DVD's & books. Up the stairs to a very comfortable king size bed with a walk in cupboard with hanging space. We were given a bucket of apples from the orchard, which I made a apple crumble with, the apples were lovely.   We found the Dairy was a very good base for local areas, Hartland Quay is worth a visit and St Nectan's church is interesting. We also ventured to Boscastle & Tintagel village & castle.  There is a hot tub on site to book, but that's not our thing so didn't make use of it.  We would highly recommend Cheristow Farm Cottages, and would very much like to return. 

A lovely stay at Cheristow Farm Cottages

Quiet surroundings, great views and good walks. If you're after somewhere remote, unspoilt yet with modern facilities Cheristow farm cottages are definitely worth looking at.  We stayed in the Milking Parlour- two comfortable bedrooms, a kitchen with a view and a lovely log fire in the sitting room.  Annie and Vicky are kind and considerate hosts - really welcoming and lots of helpful advice about places to go and things to do. 
 

Relaxation, escapism and lots of fresh air

Wonderful attention to detail and great communication. The accommodation is very clean, fresh, warm and waste has been recycled for a long time now. Hot tub and sauna a wonderful bonus. Great getaway location.

Wonderful, clean, warm, quiet place to stay

Wow what a gorgeous set of cottages stunning location, superbly clean and tidy ,everything is accomadated for lovely little play area with picnic tables which our 9 year old twin boys are loving wish we could stay longer oh and the added bonus of a sauna and jacuzzi loving life .

Absolute Gem.

The cottages are in the remote and peaceful Hartland Peninsula in North Devon. The owners were so friendly and helpful throughout our stay, advising us of all the best local walks and pubs. They provided excellent walking maps of the local areas. The cottages are about a 20 minute wooded walk to the village of Hartland, with its shops, cafe and 3 pubs (we loved The Hart Inn).

The South West Coastal path is about a 45 min walk away (or 10 mins in car to Hartland Quay). The scenery on the coastal path is stunning. It’s quite tough walking, but worth the effort for the views.

Clovelly is only a 20 minute drive away (beware of the slippery rocks, my wife slipped and broke her ankle 🥵)

Any trail runners, I managed some great runs from the cottage to Hartland Quay, then up to Hartland Peninsula and back the cottage (around 7 miles of hills and views)

Great Stay in an idyllic location

Very quiet and relaxing stay in pretty environment.  Vicky and Annie were super friendly and helpful.  Great for coastal walking, sea swimming, and cycling.  Hartland is a nice village with essential amenities.  We stayed in Granary cottage for a week.

Lovely part of Devon

We really couldn’t have been happier with our time at Cheristow.  

Lovely hosts who go out of their way to help in any way possible, really attractive holiday cottages (we had two - one for son and family, one for us, both in the same courtyard) which are very well kitted out and beautifully appointed, plus glorious quiet countryside all around.

If you want somewhere to go in this part of the world that will charm you, look no further!

Just loved Hartland point, our hosts and the brilliant accommodation

Our family (mum, dad, 18yo daughter and 15yo son) stayed in Milking Parlour for five July nights, a getaway from lockdown. Seemingly in the middle of nowhere after navigating those narrow Devon country roads, the cottage was lovely and well appointed.  Annie was very welcoming and full of information and advice. A great setting with a view of the church in Stoke and the sea beyond from the patio garden, it was a perfect spot from which to explore the area.

We managed to pack a lot in: cycling along the Tarka trail, boarding at Widemouth bay (twice), a long walk around Hartland peninsula including the coast path, kayaking, SUPing, walking and running at Tamar lake, a visit to Clovelly and a couple of runs/walks from the cottage including into the village, maybe a mile away.

Some of the nearby pubs in the village were still finding their feet with the distancing rules but we had our first two meals out for months at the Wreckers Retreat at Hartland Quay. Fantastic. We’d missed all that.

We all would highly recommend. Thanks



Family short break

I spent three weeks off season in one of the cottages. It was very comfortable with all the essentials and a wood burner. Annie, Quintin, Vicky and Ian all made me feel at ease and we’re ready to give me any help and advise I wanted as well as giving me privacy.  I was researching wether I would move to North Devon. The walks around the farm are next to none and in wild rainy weather the cottage provided a very comfortable base to return to. As I was having a lengthy stay I brought with me a few personal things (table cloth and blanket etc) to Give me a sense of being at home. You can buy quite adequate supplies in Hartland village and there are a good choice of pubs. I had a great stay. NB. I traveled in Feb/March 2019 I have only just worked out how to use this site and date of stay was not available.

Three week off peak stay

Stayed here for the valentines weekend and was the perfect spot. The cottage was inviting  and cosy. The scones on arrival were a lovely personal extra. We did have issues with the TV but think that may have been due to the storm, although access to Netflix or some other option than digital tv have been nice. 
The cottages are located rurally but we took a five min drive to the quay and found a lovely pub to spend the afternoon in, with gorgeous views. 
Use of the hot tub  and sauna made our  stay especially exceptional. Would recommended Cheristow farm cottages for a romantic gateway.
