Stayed for 2 nights,with our dog. We have never stayed in a more dog friendly room. The distance to the beach/ walks os so short from the B&B, and they are amazing. Breakfast was lovely. If you need a dog friendly place,this is for you. Staff were so accommodating. 

Great dog friendly B&B 

This is such a great little place. The owners and staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, a bonus to the beautiful doggy's who were so well behaved and happy to come over for belly rubs and head scratches. We were only staying overnight with my parents in the accessible room and my husband and I in the deluxe double. The rooms were clean and spacious and the showers were really amazing - great water pressure. The only thing that i feel would have been of benefit would be another plug socket - there was an extension cable but it only reached as far as under the bed so charging mobiles was a little challenging. Other than that we were happy with our stay, you cannot get a better location! The breakfast was good quality and plentiful - and my mum loved the ice cream. Would have received 5 stars, but due to the renovations happening (that we were unaware of until arrival) during the night you could smell wet cement (musty dampness) from the work being done. I am sure when the new rooma are complete it will be beautiful. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we will be back again. (Not the place if you are not an animal lover, but great for those who are, or have dogs themselves as they are very welcome.) 

Pet friendly great location

Great B&B well located by the sea in Minnis Bay, Birchington on Sea, Kent. Lovely breakfasts and food, very friendly host and staff.  Good value, very clean and comfortable rooms. Open 7 days a week and great promenade walks.

Obviously, our room in The Waves was being refurbished and not yet finished so that it was a bit of a makeshift solution. The ceiling lamp was a naked bulb without a lampshade, the smoke detector was still wrapped in plastic. In the small room that is meant to be a walk-in wardrobe (??), there was no lighting at all. Moreover, there were no hooks – neither in the room nor in that wardrobe – where to hang the jackets. We had to ask explicitly for clothes hangers and a waste paper basket, and a bin and a toilet brush were obviously not meant to be part of the standard equipment in the bathroom. Unfortunately, the heating failed several times (in March) and we constantly had to contact the owners to remedy this deficiency. The TV set did not work. We connected the aerial ourselves and installed the TV channels. Also, the room might be o.k. some day for 2 people but is definitely way too small for 3 adults, as a folding bed had been cramped in for us. Accordingly, due to the resulting necessary shift of the double bed we could not use the sockets (nor one of the bedside lamps). - Parking was available in front of the room's entrance.
Breakfast was served in the café; it was sufficient and o.k.
Positive mention must be made ofthe extremely friendly young service staff in the café.


Bit disappointing

We must have stayed at The Waves in Birchington (Kent) over 20 or 30 times by now.  It is convenient for our family visits, but most importantly, it is very snug, and the owners and staff are all enthusiastic about helping and making sure you are comfortable.  The rooms, currently under renovation, are very tastefully done, extremely clean and frankly just what you need when you are travelling half way across the world.  Highly recommended.  Great breakfasts too!  We will be back, to quote a well-known phrase.  Sharon & Dan HKG

Our compliments, again

We had a family Christmas lunch for 16 at waves yesterday. This is the 2nd year Steve and Jane have organised this for us. The food was delicious and plenty of it. The table was laid out beautifully. Thanks to the whole team for all your hard work.

Christmas Lunch

We stayed here for an overnight break in May with our granddaughter and we couldn’t have asked for more. The hotel is lovely and clean, the rooms  are so comfy and spotless. 
Location is amazing, so close to the lovely beach across the road. 
What made it more special even was the staff, so friendly and helpful. 
And even down to the fact that three weeks after coming home I realised I may have left a dress in my room and I phoned up to see if it was possibly handed in,  and they found it straight away and they were so happy for me to be sent it and didn’t even talk about any charge for the postage.

Waves- Lovely experience with the most friendly staff

Stopped here for breakfast after a dog walk. Menu was expensive for a cafe breakfast, so expected it to be decent quality. The food was delivered to the table, and there was literally a tablespoon of tinned mushrooms on the breakfast. No cutlery was brought to the table and I then had to walk inside to get some and was offered some wooden cutlery… I asked for some normal cutlery which I was given after telling them I don’t wish to struggle to eat with wooden flimsy cutlery. Over £22 for two poor quality breakfasts and two drinks and poor service. I will not return here and I’d advise people to not come here unless you want poor quality food and poor service and expensive prices… tinned mushrooms…. Who even does that?

Tinned mushrooms on a breakfast? Really?

Lists start on a few positives, the staff serving were friendly and attentive the toast was actually buttered ( not provided with a frozen butter pat) and the sausage on the breakfast was a good quality and tasty. That’s about where it ends.
We all ordered different size breakfasts and all of us felt the breakfasts were very poor:

The eggs were very over done hard dry and cold
The bacon was dried out as if cooked yesterday and cold
The mushrooms were cold uncooked and looked like they came from a tin, none of us could eat them.
The beans were a very low quality, tasteless and , you guessed it cold.
The tinned tomatoes cold.

Over all probably one of the worst breakfasts any of us have had, plus it wasn’t cheep £9 for the large which elsewhere would be a regular.

My recommendation, definitely skip breakfast at Waves !

Very poor Breakfast

We had a family Christmas dinner here last night and it was lovely. The cafe is easily accessible, in a nice seafront location, with lots of parking. We were made to feel so welcome by the hosts, and the service was excellent. The portions were very generous, at a great price too. The gateaux I had for dessert was delicious, I just couldn't finish it because I was too full! They have beautiful dogs who joined us after our dinner; the children in our family fell in love with them and took loads of selfies. They also got to play around on the piano next to the bar for a bit of fun. We had a great time and I would definitely visit again.
